I know some of us have been waiting for years for Lifeline to return to its old glory, and it seems we will be meeting the characters we know and love once more.

I know some of us have been waiting for years for Lifeline to return to its old glory, and it seems we will be meeting the characters we know and love once more.

Sad news: from what I could gather, the company that first made Whiteout (Eipix) has gone defunct. According to an email received by a fan,

So what’s the future of Whiteout? It’s difficult to say. 3MG isn’t affiliated with (what was formerly) Eipix, so they don’t really have jurisdiction over Adams’ story. Hopefully someone can reach out to re-release WO2 in a non-microtransaction-addled format, or write another one entirely, but as of right now, we just don’t know. :(

Lifeline Universe App Preview

A preview of the new Lifeline Universe App which is on the google play store in beta. There has been an immense lack of information from Lifeline HQ about the gameplay of the app and iOS users can’t access the app to take a look at the VERY different format compared to the original Lifeline games. 

The app is run on microtransactions with premium choices which cost extra money, some of which are crucial for the plot

The chapter format requires each chapter to be bought/rented individually

You cannot rewind except to the last checkpoint (without paying money)

You cannot look back at the completed chapters you played through

You have to spend more money to replay a chapter from the beginning

Everything is in fast mode with timers and ads for waits

There are no ratings (such as Teen for Flatline) for any of the games, even with ones that should have them and content warnings

All chapters come with spoilers in the descriptions

Many new games are in visual novel (or Episode) style format rather than the original text-based system

Bad Astronaut will cost an estimated $10 USD to play through ONCE with all premium choices (and is in this new VN format)

The recent tweet/post/etc about the “final chapter of Lifeline” is about putting the 3rd chapter of the FIRST GAME onto the app, not like a finale of the green series which the tweet heavily implied.
