Apparently, it's necessary to keep repeating this to this fandom all the time because some people – especially on Twitter and TikTok – still haven't grasped that this story is NOT about the original Hikaru, so here it goes, I'll repeat it: NO, the feelings of our 'Hikaru' are NOT a reflection of the feelings of the original Hikaru. The feelings of 'Hikaru' ARE HIS OWN! 'Hikaru' is a being in himself, he has his own feelings, he loves Yoshiki because he, as a monster, came to love Yoshiki for everything Yoshiki represents, and that's it. This is said NUMEROUS times. And it wasn't just off-screen. In the manga and anime, we had the beach scene; it's impossible that you were asleep when that scene happened. You only listen to and read the subtitles of what's relevant to you, is that it? Besides that scene, the author has said this many, many times. At some point, you'll have to understand that this story isn't about the dead human; this story is about the monster. It's about how this monster discovers humanity and falls in love with a human. It's a story about how this human comes to love this monster back precisely because the monster represents everything that's different from what he's known! (Because yes, in case it wasn't clear: Yoshiki doesn't love 'Hikaru' because of the original Hikaru. Yoshiki himself has said this at least twice in the manga; if you on TikTok and Twitter read properly, you'd already know. Yoshiki decides that 'Hikaru' is his home for its own sake. He decides to go after 'Hikaru' for what 'Hikaru' is, for the monster that 'Hikaru' is, and not for anything else!). I don't understand how so many people can hate the monster 'Hikaru' while reading a manga about a monster and a human learning to love each other. So here's my reminder: stop distorting the story, stop distorting Yoshiki's feelings, stop invalidating the character of 'Hikaru' just because you can't accept that this is a story about monsters and humans and NOT a story of human/ human.
