this is what i’ve been working on in what i mentioned writing, i forget if i said this what im writing is post-canon and kaneki and ui talk a little in it, so this will help me write thank u!!! (but for safety reasons i should ask u to please leave my attic. u can’t keep listening to me talk.)

i think in post-canon ui would still be a little ruminating on the past kinda? like when he meets kaneki he’s still remembering haise, and i think he’s a little scared because like. dangerous and powerful and stuff . i think ui sees ghouls as unpredictable and violent by default, which is obviously a mistake born of prejudice on his part . (im thinking this is his thought process around :re chap 150 particularly and that’s why he doesn’t even accept the proposal to fight with ghouls: everyone accepts it for him and he just lets it happen)

ui is the shiniest prime product from the academy because of that anti-ghoul prejudice he has, that’s why he was perfect as a CCG investigator, and that’s naturally what biases him against haise/kaneki

sorry that deviated!!! as for post-canon (i’ll start with after chap 178), i think ui has a lot of unlearning to do . spending time with ghouls, getting to know them, finding that they aren’t who he thinks they all are

i don’t think that process wouldve start with kaneki . in his eyes i think he sees kaneki as like end boss of the ghouls in tokyo, like kaneki would be top 1 most wanted ghouls and ui is scared of him but not in the traditional screaming and crying sense, i think he’s very intimidated though

ui’s ghoul journey for lack of a better term would probably start with kimi and then nishiki . i think they’d get along well and i just think it’s plausible that he and kimi would’ve met once or twice, and kimi is someone who has kinda been through that process before

once he’s gotten to know several ghouls, acclimatised himself with cafe :re and things like that, it’s inevitable he’d bump into kaneki . i think ui would’ve taken a back seat in the TSC’s manifestation because let’s be fr he needs a holiday . i also wouldn’t be surprised if there was some skepticism towards him after all of the furuta stuff

i think the person to ask him to help and join the TSC, maybe a few months after everything happened , would be kaneki . they’d probably bump into each other in :re (i’m biased but ui and yomo would probably chill the freak out together, and take too when he visits!!) and kaneki would be liek small talking and then drop the TSC bomb on him

ui would totally be like “i need to think about it and then get back to u” and then avoid kaneki like the PLAGUE. he’s such a fucking chud … but when they catch up again i think ui would accept

thats when i think they’d start getting closer . i know kaneki isn’t the leader of either the TSC or united front but hes the coordinator guy and i feel like everyone goes to him for the most part cus hes literally Kaneki.

i feel like kaneki had a specific idea for the TSC and united front respectively and he kinda knew who he wanted in what place: when ui accepted his offer to join the TSC i think he’d have been a little upset to be the deputy head of the academy rather than. u know. the head . i don’t think he’d be nearly as upset as he might’ve been when he was in the CCG, i think he’s come to realise that’s kind of silly, but he’d still be slightly disappointed though he wouldn’t say anything

i think kaneki has a somewhat solid understanding of ui and that’s why he gave ui an academy position . kaneki can empathise with what ui has gone through and that’s why he chose to give ui a less physical (if that’s the right word) position, because damn ui needs a break from killing shit! the way i see kaneki is as someone really observant and considerate so i think he put a lot of thought into the TSC as a concept .

after ui is hired in the TSC, i think he would complain a lot in the break rooms . i can see kaneki visiting to see how he’s acclimatising and ui just starts going on and on and on like he’s already been working there for years . that’s the way he bonds! they’re bonding!

kaneki and ui are a good pair because kaneki will tolerate ui’s complaining but always try to offer a positive outlook, and that’d help ui be less. you know. NEGATIVE ALL OF THE TIME

i think they’d hang out outside of work too . i can see kaneki being a very sought after person obviously but i think he’d make time for everyone, so maybe one night every fortnight he’d go with ui to wherever ui wants to go (usually a bar let’s be fr) and just listen to him

i think ui would be a bit pissed off by kaneki’s perceived saintliness but over time he’d come to learn kaneki’s imperfections and they’d get on better then . wow ui u sound like a fucking asshole bro

as for post-179, u will not catch ui babysitting ichika im afraid . yes he deals with students all day for hours but babies ? toddlers ? stop. you’re scaring him. do you see that spot in the distance that’s him running the hell away

i think he would be closer with kaneki after chap 179, ui would’ve settled into his job and kaneki would be less protective, for lack of a better word, of him and so they’d have just a normal friendship . i think kaneki would help ui chill the hell out and be less angry all the time and ui would try to help in return by bringing stuff to kaneki like snacks for ichika and even one time a bottle of blood wine that he felt very uncomfortable carrying but he was like “ur a dad so u might want this i know i would”

but yeah. i think they’d be on good terms and happy and fun and smiling! i honestly think ui would mellow out a bit more getting into his thirties so he would be a little more relaxed and less uptight LOL so he’d be good at getting along with all these people

not tsukiyama tho. ui would have gay beef with tsukiyama and i don’t mean the good kind of gay beef i mean that they’re catty as fuck to each other and hate each other and they don’t even kiss

ok here we go

i think it’s kinda obvious ui is a little jealous of haise. in :re chap 38, ui is dismissive of haise’s mask operation idea: fura even says “aren’t you just opposed to sasaki being successful?” and ui insists “he’s… dangerous”

i think success definitely plays a part in ui’s jealousy. ui was an associate special class at ~25, and haise comes waltzing in and is later promoted to that same rank at only 23 . obviously ui is a special class by the time the two interact, but if we do the math haise would be more successful than him by the time he’s 28, too .

ui is bound to be jealous of that: he wants success for himself because he wants recognition, he wants to be something and i think that plays a part in why he aids furuta, as well as his craving for acknowledgement, particularly friends

furthermore, i think ui is jealous of haise’s relationship with arima. we see ui recognise haise and arima’s friendly relationship in volume 1, not to bring In a meating… into anything but it’s obvious from that small interaction that ui sees those two, interacting amicably, and even sharing a hobby. ui admires arima and saw himself as arima’s protege, too, so it makes sense he’d be upset that arima is behaving so differently with this more successful, younger and even new type of investigator .

i think this is shown best when arima and ui interact briefly in :re chap 45, where ui is relaxed and even has a brief inner dialogue “A former superior is about the only person you can relax in front of…”

this suggests some kind of anger because haise gets the undue satisfaction of seeing arima relax, where arima still seems rather aloof in front of ui, and leaves abruptly, making ui seemingly feel dejected and put out, he even kinda looks like he’s pouting lol

i think part of ui does genuinely think haise is dangerous, but it’s more of a danger to himself and his social life than his life because of the ghoul of it all . i think ui is scared of being replaced and he thinks he sees haise doing this, ui doesn’t have the self worth that tells him he isn’t about to be swapped out by someone so different from him

i don’t think he distrusts haise though, he clearly knows he’s competent as an investigator if he’s scared of him, and ui also chooses to trust haise during the rose extermination

the rose extermination develops their relationship too, i think ui had a strange sort of fearful respect for haise when he sees him like eating the kakuja in :re chap 57, its kind of like ui sees that haise can do things for himself instead of others and i think that’s a trait ui can admire and tries to have, but i think he struggles to put into practice

i think that, after the rose extermination ‘fails’, and ui’s reputation depletes, i think he feels a kind of resonance with haise, who was looked down upon for being a half ghoul with a perceived lack of control: now ui is seen as someone who can’t truly control a mission or see its success

after haise leaves the CCG, i think ui tries to keep some kind of professionality (:re chap 100), but he clearly struggles when he has emotional ties . i think he had hope for haise and is disappointed by what happened

on the other hand, i think haise liked ui! its hard to say haise’s exact opinion of him because i think haise was friendly with everyone and also he kinda had lost his memories so hes busy with that but i think haise seemed to respect ui, esp considering he went to ui to ask about the mask operation!!!

as for headcanons, i think they’d be good friends if they ever did get close

i think haise would be rather motherly in regards to ui’s smoking, me and my friend spoke abt this recently (not ui specifically but haise) and how haise would totally give candy cigarettes to his smoker associates just to see their face .

i can imagine ui being like “why r u giving me this r u trying to rot my teeth” and haise being like “ur already rotting ur teeth im just making it sweeter” and then doing fingerguns

i can see them doing karaoke together and going out to bars until haise has to help ui home at 2AM😭 although part of me leans towards haise having a specific bedtime . he would totally come get ui if ui should call though

when urie was a teenager he was one of those 14 year olds who drinks like 1 monster at 2AM and then acts crazy and he still has a bad habit of drinking energy drinks late in the night when he shouldn’t be . i feel like there was a point where he started disliking water for a while and that’s when it got serious for him so he started drinking as much water as possible to reverse this

i feel like urie has sketches and paintings of his friends and teammates, not even in a romantic sense but his teammates are unique and he likes to see how his personal feelings abt them translate onto the canvas, they’re also just there and convenient 😭 shirazu and saiko probably once went on an ‘excursion’ to ‘investigate’ urie’s room and found them, giggled about them, got emotional, and then never brought them up ever .

takeomi! i like takeomi i ship him with urie. i have definitely said that before am i the repetitive man be honest

takeomi is very good with children, if he wasn’t an investigator he could totally be a childminder or something because he is just good with them . he is good as hell at their pretending games and even better at their sporty games, but he always lets the kids win and is generally just tolerant of them . also with his super strength of it all they can cling to his fingers without hurting him and he can peel them off of him when they need to go home . he also manages not to hurt them because he’s gentle and cutie core... despite this i don’t think he’d have kids of his own because he likes going home to relax at the end of the day and i think the clutter would stress him out

another thing is that i think he’s generally pretty neat, i feel like his work briefcase has organisers in it and shit for all the stuff he needs, like he always has whatever he needs in whatever situation he’s that kind of person . he is the kind of guy when u don’t have a pad or whatever he pipes up like U want a tampon or a pad bro i have both . he is so kindly and nice

i fele like despite his niceties takeomi isn’t non-confrontational, not that he’s argumentative but if someone says something he disagrees with he will gently press, ask them why they think that and tell them what they think, but he’s always respectful af and patient . he never gets angry unless somebody hurts someone he loves and shit awww

i think he and his dad are very close and probably went on ‘boys trip’s a lot when he was younger, i’m thinking fishing and birdwatching. they probably still do when they can make space between their busy schedules, and takeomi makes sure to make a lot of time for his dad after iwao is injured by furuta, as well as bringing iwao home cooked food and stuff . despite iwao’s advice to find a girl who can cook i think takeomi is a competent cook and he likes making snacks for his friends when they need support or anything

saiko aka MY TWIN! i’ve discussed saiko’s social media habits on here before iirc so i’ll try not to focus on that but just know her account has 500k+ both posts and reposts within a couple of years .

YES her hair is from miku. i know very little about miku but SAIKO COPIED MIKU. saiko doesn’t like leeks though and it annoys her to no end . she’s definitely cosplayed miku before and sings miku songs around the chateau and the other quinx get annoyed and she’s just like ^o^

saiko spends all of her money on figures and relies on the others at the chateau to keep her afloat . yes it’s a little selfish but nobody minds . well they do because shirazu always goes ‘SAIKO DO U SRSLT HAVE ANOTHER OACKAGE OH MY GOD’ and urie gives her dirty looks when he takes her various boxes to her room

i think after urie had his whole arc and he chilled the f out yo he and saiko could totally bond over the figures though . urie would appreciate the artistic skill that went into making and modelling them and saiko would be like ‘isn’t she cute ^^ her name is blah blah blah blah’

i think saiko and urie would bond a lot when they’re older, urie would find himself surprisingly charmed by some of saiko’s hobbies (i think he’d also enjoy the anime’s and games she likes, if just for the art), and saiko would cheer on and motivate his art a LOT . urie open commissions and saiko orders 1000000 different anime girls

To share one, well less headcanon more AU thought. You know the Hachi and Ayumu the dog bee duo? How Hachis lower face is all but ripped off, I had this one thought that Ayumus upper face to eye area had indeed also taken damage and it impared her seeing enough that she chooses to hide her face scars with her own hair. Since to her it's like barely covering. So near Blindness I suppose I'm saying.

Hide - Bisexual . i think he has a preference for girls but i think that stems from the fact that kaneki is the only dude he’s ever had eyes for, whereas he can separate girls from kaneki enough to think they’re cute if that makes sense, but with guys he’s like ‘ugh he does x thing kaneki does’ ‘he has the same x as kaneki’ and so on

Touka - comphet lesbian… i feel like she convinced herself she had a crush on kaneki because she knew it was the thing to do and she was in severe denial of her likeylike of yoriko . she knows if she was in a romance manga she and kaneki would totally go out, yoriko would tell her as much, so she tries to adhere to that and. severely fails. i feel like touka has some internalised misogyny that makes her think she can’t go for soft girls because she’s a tough girl, shes one of the guys! yoriko helps her come to terms with her femininity and they skip off into the sunset tralalala

Chie Hori - chie is not interested in a relationship until she is very very old! she has places to be, she doesn’t want to have to drag someone around. if she ever got a partner, she would want them to love travel and maybe even have a career centred around it like herself . i think she might be bisexual or omnisexual, but she’d prefer non-men because men can kind of be creepy regarding her appearance . tsukiyama is more than enough men in her life

Yoshimura - he’s always said he’s straight but i think he did a little experimenting in his youth, realistically he’s probably omni or something but comphet 👌 he has so much love to share in the world

Urie - urie is gay but in extreme denial. he wants to carry his father’s good name and the only way he sees fit to do that is by having children, and the only way he sees to do that is by marrying a woman and having her bear his children . i think by the end of tokyo ghoul’s narrative he would’ve discarded that opinion and accepted himself for who he is rather than always striving to be something more
