Very long, very messy and badly structured analysis on the new Sonic Channel story part 1
It's probably mostly just me but there seemed to be a lot of rather shippy subtext in the new Sonic Channel story.
It literally states Sonic 'loves' the view of the ARK and the moon, he goes out of his way to go watch it and waits for it all night, when it specifically represents him and Shadow and is also a metaphor for their relationship - the artificial one with a broken past, and the natural one that shines over everything, only running into each other every now and again, but the times they do are significant. And the movement from pointing to the astronomical event to pointing at Shadow. He's pointing out the symbolism of it all, and there's some genuine thought in that moment as well.
Plus the fact that he doesn't tell Shadow why he's there until it actually happens, and why he had a saddened tone the first time Shadow Chaos Controlled, and why he starts following him around rather than just leaving him alone. It genuinely seems like after he saw Shadow was there he wanted to actually show him the ARK and Moon passing each other. Because that event clearly means a lot to Sonic, and he wanted to actually spend it with the person it represents, and the person who it will also mean a lot to, seeing as it not only represnts Shadow's past - the ARK, the place where he was born and lost everything, but it also represents the present - the relationship between him and Sonic, and the future - this event will keep on happening, and the "moon" will continue to watch over him. Given all of this, and his self-depreciating attitude about how he doesn't matter as well, it's no wonder why Sonic was disappointed when Shadow left. Not to mention how it states Sonic is relaxed while talking to Shadow, obviously connoting that he is enjoying spending time with him. Like this is probably all a massive stretch, but from how I interpreted it he tries to keep Shadow in tow to show him this all night, only to make it awkward and cause him to leave.
Moreover the whole thing about Sonic being the only one who can reach Shadow's heart actually comes into play a bit here. Specifically the part where Shadow is looking at the ARK. Neither said anything, but Shadow's silence while observing the it "was a clear answer to Sonic". He understands that that place means a great deal to Shadow. This whole event and interaction is what reached Shadow's heart.
In one of the translations Sonic points at himself instead of Shadow, but I'm still trying to interpret meaning from that other than sonic is terrible at flirting.jpeg lol.
Tldr they basically indirectly said he 'loves' spending time with Shadow.
