Okay, it's not that I hate Thor Ragnarok. It's just that I don't like it as a part of a franchise. Other Thor movies may not be as memorable as The Avengers or Guardians of the galaxy, but they had this really unique art style. I mean golden alien planet, mythology easter eggs (not that many but still there), gods speaking like Shakespeare, beautiful fashion designs, etc. And they make it into a fucking comedy, blowing the whole planet up.
But this post isn't about bashing the whole movie.
Look at Loki's clothes in Thor 1.
They just give you the feel of an ancient god. An ancient god prince. It follows int the first Avengers movie.
And continues to Dark world.
Aaaand a little bit in Ragnarok.
Didn't the design got a little, I don't know, lazy? Out of place? In every of those outfits above he always had that golden u-shaped thing on his chest. It was like his signature thing, like Thor having those 6 circle thingies.
It just feels like they were trying to strip Loki of as much things as they could to make Thor look better (even though Loki is obviously that type of guy to dress to impress)
Maybe I'm reading too much into it.
But no, they chose to dress Loki in a fucking onesie in the final battle.
Out of all of those amazing and complex designs... Sometimes I really think they hated Loki's character in Ragnarok.
I'm not a fashion expert, I'm just angry and tired, so I made this😅
I love Loki and Ragnarok is my favorite movie. Everyone can have their own opinions of course, and I’m not arguing my opinion, just showing a different perspective. To me, Ragnarok is giving a glimpse into what the brothers were like, once upon a time. Its full of confidence, on both their parts, that regardless of the absolute shitshow happening all around them, they are still Gods, and everything will be fine. By this time, they have probably already been enslaved somewhere, as gladiators, before. When I look at their interactions, I see a game, that has been going on through a relationship that has endured for over 1000 years. Loki pushes on Thor, Thor pushes on Loki. Ever since Avengers when Loki unleashed Hulk on Thor...and you could see the look of ‘aww yeah’ on Thor’s face, I’ve thought...oh so this is how Gods play. Never for one moment do either brother think that what they are doing is going to do any significant damage to the other one. While Loki shows fear occasionally, its either in regards to himself or to Thor. Thor doesn’t bother to be afraid, he’s so confident, up until Infinity War, where his vision of indestructibility is crushed.
Which brings me to the fashion, finally, I know. Loki’s outfit in this movie is stunning. Its free of the layers that were keeping his physicality hidden. Its biker outfit badassness, its ‘I came to a God-Fight with a couple knives’, strut. It is temptation, it is sexy, it is confidence. His cape, even, has the same flare. The pretentious pleats are missing, and instead, its this lightweight thing that won’t slow him down for a moment. It might even be just illusion, the way it flows. Also, he’s probably pulling fashions out of the same dimensional pocket he hides everything else. He had that blue one in there that he yanked out to appease the aesthetic of Sakaar, but hey...the crafter people made him one in multiple colors for any occasion.
Also, no flaps covering his junk, which apparently was a bit of a distraction in the first movie, which led to flap in the Avengers. <.< Now they are just all...hey...have a look.
