i apologise for the length in advance but! this person has made me much less forgiving and it drives me insane when ppl say asians are treated as practically white. i immigrated from southeast asia to a white country later in my life and near-immediately had to tolerate someone with some choice beliefs who treated me like a token asian friend (leave me alone???)
white person with a self-assigned japanese name (pet peeve i have btw. no one ever talks abt it but why is it always japanese or korean? It Could Mean Nothing). not much by itself, but with everything, yk
thought i couldn't be queer bc i was asian and gave me the dirtiest look when i said so. supposedly very progressive in terms of lgbtqia+ awareness
also didn't think i could be mentally ill! also as a person who is supposedly very aware and progressive in this area
applied good-student and strict parent stereotypes to me and proceeded to go trauma olympics on this imaginary me's trauma for a whole year. and i mean genuinely, they would bring up how much worse their everything is compared to my supposed life. i would give them nothing and they would still keep going
i was a good student BECAUSE i was asian
felt entitled to, as the most innocent and oppressed person ever, to take their anger out on everyone disimilar to them including me, not even mentioning their tendency for "humorous" violence
when ppl think of asians, they often think of the East (n that's probably where this person got their stereotypes for me) but i often feel voiceless being so nearby and yet ignored, and i am happy this blog exists ππ«Ά
oh these are all extremely good points anon!! this is a PSA for all non-Asian people to please STOP giving yourself Japanese/Chinese/Korean names! and the 'Asians can't be mentally ill/queer' stereotype is 100% prevalent.
