Being forced into femininity is not a fucking privilege its one of the major arms of misogyny as an oppressive force. I don't care that you're envious of our experiences or dysphoric about not being raised that way - that doesn't make it a privilege.

And the response from every vaguely progressive TME was to say that we must be imagining things. Maybe user generated reports are higher for trans women. Maybe those reports cause automatic deletion when there are enough. It must just be the unintentional result of systems not being checked thoroughly enough. It's not possible that any person chose to discriminate against trans women, it has to just be an accident. Any anger or frustration towards staff is misguided harassment of innocent people.

And then the CEO admitted moderators were targeting trans women (along with targeting some himself). And the website terminated dozens of trans womens accounts "for any reason or no reason at all", only restoring the one TME account they banned accidentally at the same time.

And suddenly all those users decided that being banned doesn't matter. You're overreacting. It's just a website. You aren't entitled to be in every space.

And besides, the only trans women who got banned were pedophiles anyway.

And they don't even understand how and why this hurts us so much. We're so silenced because if we weren't everyone else would have to reckon with the horrific things we have to face, so everyone just... pretends it's not real. Pretends we're all in the same boat. Even when we've clearly fallen overboard, struggling against the waves, they look the other way so they can pretend we're there beside them.

It's one of the most sickening rhetorical strategies that those segments of the trans community who wish to preserve and extend their own ability to benefit from transmisogyny have devised.

it's just that there's so much hatred, vitriol, disgust, and harm targeting transfeminized people, that this hypervisibility makes just existing with normal amounts of visibility, and people rightfully centering the hypervisible in conversations "feel" like "invisibility" or "erasure"

They banned trans women, trans girls, and nonbinary TMA people. They did NOT ban ALL trans athletes. Being specific about who is harmed is 100% necessary to actually undo harm.

It is DAMN important to name the transmisogyny, just as much as it is to name the transphobia. It is directly against the foundation of intersectionality to try to flatten two separate intersecting oppressions into one.
