“Run! Pirates! They’re headed straight for us!”

The lone guard continued racing towards them, and yet the village fell to a bone-chilling silence as everyone contemplated their next movement. Some stepped back with a sudden desire to seek shelter in the nearest building, but most were ready to protect their home without a single trace of fear coursing through their fiery blood. Jagtby was a town of hunters, and although it wasn’t often they had to defend their village, they couldn’t have asked for a better leader to take charge. When Gaston was only a teenager, he defended Villeneuve from a pack of marauders that intruded the provincial town overnight. This was a familiar scenario for him and, to be honest, Gaston preferred a band of pirates as opposed to the monstrous trees and werewolves he fought last year.

“Do not stir,” Gaston urged the villagers when he sharply turned to face them. “Hold your ground.”

Nearing the startled villagers, the guard stumbled once more and clumsily tripped over a protruding cobblestone in the street. With his hands grabbing the air, he collapsed to the road in a heap of armor before pushing himself off the ground after several attempts.

“Where’s the other guard?” Gaston asked the jittery knight who propelled through the crowd as though being hunted.

“He’s DEAD!” The man shouted melodramatically, his gaze focused on the courtyard ahead of him. Gaston had never seen a guard so unprepared and panicked before, and it angered him to witness someone willingly become a blatant coward.

“Stop him,” Gaston ordered the villagers.

Immediately, they inched closer together until their shoulders were pressed against one another, creating an impenetrable shield. The guard was left with no other choice but to face his town.

“What’s going on?” Gaston finally asked. The guard’s ashen face was tense, paralyzed with shock, and a cold layer of sweat formed in minuscule beads along his brow and upper lip.

He was out of breath, and yet he still pleaded: “Please, let me go. They’ll be here any moment, please, you don’t have much time. You’ll run if you know what’s good for you.”

“I’ll do no such thing,” Gaston answered straightaway. “How many are there?”

The quaint village of Jagtby, Denmark was once relatively overlooked, although its neighbors were aware of the town’s unmatchable hunting skills, but as fireflies emerged from the forest at every year’s Midsummer Festival, it became a particular destination amongst travelers. Jagtby eventually developed into a symbol for The Legend of Gaston the Victory, and visitors had never been more plentiful. There were widespread rumors that Gaston moved from Villeneuve to Jagtby, where he and Anne (the Beauty who finally broke his curse) moved into her childhood home and, therefore, most visitors simply wanted to see for themselves if the gossip was true.

Locals had never been more welcoming towards Anne, as memories that were once concealed by powerful magic came rushing back to them. Finally, she was reunited with her home after an Evil Sorceress, Vayle, kidnapped her as a young child and raised her in an abandoned cottage in the French countryside. If it wasn’t for Anne’s desire to see and explore the world, she never would have escaped to Villeneuve and met Gaston. One year ago, neither of them would have lived to see another day if it wasn’t for the compelling bond they shared with one another. True love ultimately prevailed, and therefore to hold Jagtby’s Midsummer Festival on the final day of June the following year was sentimental for everyone.

Once upon a time, in the hidden heart of France, a beautiful girl lived in a small village, surrounded by people who thought she was odd and strange.

She found a castle, cold and dark, an eternal winter in its wake. A Beast lived inside, tortured by grief and despair.

Despite circumstances and expectations, the two fell in love, but the Captain; turned blind by greed and jealousy, sought to kill the Beast.

A bridge crumbled beneath his feet and to the depths he fell, leaving a grieving beauty and dying prince as his last actions.

Except, however, another beautiful girl from the village found him and made this exchange;

“He should return to the world, and a year shall pass before I take his place”

Okay, so this post officially ends One Year :(!!! I love making playlists! It definitely helps when I’m writing and trying to describe tone/scene, so I wanted to include the tracklist for One Year because I absolutely love all of the songs, and they fit incredibly well with the story! One of the reasons I used Disney references is because the entire story revolves around nostalgia and memories, so I wanted to kinda create that same feeling when yall were reading it. I thought the playlist should simulate that, so on the tracklist, you’ll find Disney songs, instrumentals, and other songs that fit a chapter/moment in the story.
