The group had barely recovered from the excitement of spotting the tiny Wood White caterpillar when another burst of color swept across the garden, and unlike the pale butterfly that seemed determined to disappear into the landscape, this one demanded attention. It glided above the flowerbeds with slow wingbeats, flashes of bright yellow interrupted by thick black markings and a pair of elegant tails extending from its hindwings.
Several students pointed at once.
"Oh!"
"Look at that one!"
"It looks fake."
Even Nayeon's attention shifted immediately. She followed its flight until it landed atop a cluster of purple blossoms a few meters away. She took a few steps closer before realizing she was standing beside Jeongyeon again. She cleared her throat.
"So..." she began, pretending to examine the butterfly rather than the woman next to her. "What's that one called?"
Jeongyeon looked at the insect and smiled. "Papilio machaon."
"Cool scientific name."
"The common name is Swallowtail."
