Today is an anniversary of an American tragedy and my earliest childhood memory. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ n February 1, 2003, the Space Shuttle Columbia disintegrated upon reentering Earth's atmosphere, killing all seven crew members. The disaster was the second fatal accident in the Space Shuttle program after Space Shuttle Challenger, which broke apart and killed the seven-member crew 73 seconds after liftoff in 1986. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ During the launch of STS-107, Columbia's 28th mission, a piece of foam insulation broke off from the Space Shuttle external tank and struck the left wing of the orbiter. A few previous shuttle launches had seen damage ranging from minor to nearly catastrophic from foam shedding, but some engineers suspected that the damage to Columbia was more serious. NASA managers limited the investigation, reasoning that the crew could not have fixed the problem if it had been confirmed. The idea that guns are the great equalizer is a profoundly ignorant statement. Physical power is unfair. At the core, the most physically fit to enact violence with their bodies, dominate. Of course, this will be mostly males. The addition of a weapon merely alters the what the physical fitness is for. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Most physically fit for domination with bare hands. Most physically fit for domination with rocks. Most physically fit for domination with knives. Most physically fit for domination with guns. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Only one of those is an instrument solely for killing and males will dominate under those conditions. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Ladies, you are not better off. Harsh reality is that you have a much better chance to escape and survive against a rapist with his hands around your neck, than you do with a rock against your head, knife against your throat, and most definitely with a gun shoved in your mouth. This is real life. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We send males with guns to fight for freedom. Males dominate DOMINATE the violence, guns, and killing game.
