I'm sure the existence of Ardi and friends was meant to make you feel bad for the Gerudo, like 'oh how sad they are ruled by such an evil man!' but it really just makes me feel bad for Ganondorf
Poor guy, rejected by his people for something he can't even control (both the being born a man part and the king rule which they put in place long before he ever showed up)
Just realized the puppet fic continues my trend of 'the only fics where Ganondorf is the one to initiate zelgan getting together are totk ones' and I think that says a lot about how I see totk Ganondorf versus the other one
1 and 2 for the fic writer's asks?
What is the crackiest* thing you’ve ever written? (*I mean this with great affection)
Probably a toss-up between Honey and Sweets (aka the 'Sheik saves the Gorons by manipulating Ganondorf with desserts' fic) or A New Face (aka the 'Phantom Ganon and Puppet Zelda hook up and Ganondorf is not happy about it' fic)
A lot of my fics are kind of silly in general but these two are really pushing it haha
2. Has writing a fic ever changed your opinion of a character?
I'd say writing Blinding Light and its sequels gave me a better appreciation of the wilds era Zelda. After totk and especially aoi she is probably one of my least favourite Zeldas but I tried to write her as more proactive and/or intense and/or actually effected by the events of botw (and then being thrown into the past on top of that) and I like her a decent bit more now.
For a more minor character, I thought Tri in Echoes of Wisdom was cute but otherwise not that remarkable of a companion after playing the game. While writing An Unlikely Alliance I was kind of forced to have them as a major character considering they are with Zelda all the time and that definitely made me like them more and appreciate their character arc. They seem to be going for the same kind of 'learning to be human' thing that Fi had which I think worked better here as we see this occurring more throughout the game than almost all at the very end, and that was interesting to try to incorporate into the fic. Also I had a lot of fun with Ganon and Tri's interactions.
to this day, demise from skyward sword was the very worst to ever do it
give it up for the lamest zelda villain of all time
"so uh we took the main villain of the series and removed any and all agency he might have had. yeah every action he took is retroactively implied to be the influence of a guy that's basically him but nowhere near as interesting. sorry."
join me in choosing to interpret skord as an actual literal hylian legend and not a truthful factual retelling of events thereby explaining the general sense of hylian superiority and oversaturation of destiny and chosenness

Totk Ganondorf really highlights how Ganondorf being the same guy in (almost) all previous games was doing wonders for his character, for me at least.
The first loz game I played was Ocarina of Time and I thought Ganondorf was cool (mainly because I thought both the Gerudo and the organ are cool) but otherwise I didn't really think much about him. It wasn't until I played Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, seeing how he could turn out so differently in different circumstances that I really became interested in him. This retroactively made Beast Ganon more interesting too, I think, adding tragedy to him, at least in his more mindless incarnations.
Totk Ganondorf feels like they reverted back to OoT Ganondorf alone. His design is kind of cool but he's otherwise generic and unnoteworthy. And he doesn't even play the organ 😔
For the fanfic writer ask game: 5, 12, 17
5. How do you know when you’re finished writing a fic? At what point do you call it done?
Usually I have an idea of what the last scene of a fic will be already when I write it, often even to the extent that I already know what the last line is going to be. Otherwise, I just write until I reach a line that feels final, either in that it kind of sums up the chapter/fic, or feels like it might hint at what could happen next.
12. Do you write in order, jump around the draft, or a mix? Something else?
I almost always write in order. Not sure why, that's just what comes naturally to me.
17. When you get a new fic idea, what does that look like in your mind? Does it play out like a film? Do you imagine lines of dialogue or a certain moment? Does a character just sit there staring at you?
Usually I imagine a certain scene, including dialogue, that makes me really want to write the fic. For Identifier, for example, this was the 'Ganondorf gives the Triforce of Power to Zelda so that she can save him' scene. Then when I feel like I need to get that scene out of my head I start writing everything to get there.
For oneshots sometimes I have a scene in mind, though sometimes these just start with a vague idea and I figure them out as I go. The most recent fic just started with me thinking 'it would be funny if Phantom Ganon and Puppet Zelda got together' and then went from there.
18 for the fic writer's ask ✨
18. If you have noticed themes emerging in your writing, what are they? What broad themes and topics do you enjoy exploring?
Hmm, that is a hard one... I have noticed a ton of my fics have to do with Ganondorf re-emerging after being sealed away or similar for a long time and having to reconcile with how the world has changed. Not sure what you would really call that as a theme though...
Off the top of my head, fics I've written that touch on this: Identifier, An Unlikely Alliance (and its sequel even more), Lost Woods (kind of), Puppets and Chains (kind of), Revival... And Possession is kind of going this way too I think haha
3 and 18 for the ask game :)
I got asked 18 in a different ask so I'll just do 3 here :)
3. Tell us about a headcanon you invented for a fic
Ever since I wrote An Unlikely Alliance it is canon to me that Ganon/dorf loves mango smoothies hehe
For something more serious, I have a whole bunch of headcanons about what Ganondorf's Terminian counterpart would be like. Many of these got put into the fics in my series of one shots Dawn of a New Day but maybe someday I'll write some more about him. I am forever living in disappointment that Ganondorf and Sheik/Impa running the fishing holes in MM3D got cut.
✍️ yet another list of fic writer asks
You all seem to like these, so here is another batch of writer asks! These questions are a little more relaxed than the last two. Followers can send an ask with a number OR you can reblog and answer everything like a Q&A. I always see a lot of “idk if i’m a writer” in the tags for these so let me just say in advance, yes you are and you can play.

It would be fun to see Beast Ganon interact with the Gerudo some time
Because I don’t know if I will ever colour this… Have some ToTK Ganondorf. This wip sits in my folders since like 2024 I think?
Also first time really drawing him and it was a lot of fun.
Don't think I'll ever write a sequel to the puppet fic because that was basically a crack fic but I have been wondering how Zelda would take to meeting the puppets
I think once she gets over the 'why did you make copies of us and why are they claiming to be in love that's so weird???' aspect of it she would actually find them pretty cool
Thinking about this more and I think she and Phantom Ganon become buddies
Ganondorf is not thrilled with this
i think i don't really vibe with most other fans of my favorite male characters is because they usually depict them too much of a man, and i am not interested in men, i am interested in The Character. and i am not saying that they should depict them as women, or nonbinary, or should depict them as feminine, no, not at all. but there's like, you know, you can depict a male character as The Character, and you can depict them as The Man. do you get me? like, i go to the fandom looking for art and fics, and it's just, regardless of his actual characterization, it's all just fantasizing about some kind of an abstract dominant patriarch, wearing my favorite character's face. it may be the most totally-wouldnt-have-normal-relationships (and sometimes even would-literally-abuse-you) kind of guy, and you join a dedicated space for his fans, and all they talk about is how they want to marry and start a tradcore 50s style nuclear family with him. it can be a guy who's arrogance and attempts of domination are explicitly shown to be a facade that hide the fact that he's actually kind of a massive pathetic wet loser, and you go to his fics, and they're all depicting him as a caricaturish daddy dom. at this point it's like, do you even like the character at all, or do you just like The Man, and project this man onto whatever character you find visually attractive? and these people kind of, really really poison actual discussion of the character, who is kind of a fucked up evil person (i only like *those* types, so im talking about them) because they see analysis of the actual character as an attack on their fantasized daddy dom husband, who is actually isn't The Character at all, and is simply a face of the day for The Man
Random Sketchy Sketch! I'm trying to find the style FOR something but this isn't it. The Journey Continues!
[An unintentionally older looking Ganondorf with long hair and beard. He's glowering. It's what he does.]

It is very important to me, for totk zelgan in particular, that Ganondorf is at least a little bit afraid of Zelda
important reminder that most people you follow online are significantly lamer than you think they are including me. and if you feel insecure comparing yourself to someone online: DON'T. theyre probably also lame and weird. most people on the internet are
reblog if you're also lame and weird.
