and now we have the first recorded version that you can find in the soundtrack, and you can hear it when Anthony gifts Edwina with the horse and Kate looks at him with satisfaction because Edwina doesn't like it: A Gift for Edwina. As you can hear it, the tone of their theme here is lighter and funny, because well...that was the tone of their relationship in the first two episodes.

funnily enough we can also hear it during Benedict telling his poetry to Anthony, probably because well, Anthony at the end truly did find insipiration in a woman enough to become a poet himself

we can also hear a little bit of their theme when they look at each other intensely after him being honest during the soiree

okay funny enough their theme isn't present much in their scenes in this episode, probably because they wanted to emphatize the family and Kate being able to fit right in so they used mostly the family's theme with them

you can hear a little bit of their theme during the failed proposal to Edwina

during the bee sting scene you can hear the same theme used during the death of Edmund (understandably so), but also a little bit of their theme mixed with it.

the most interesting thing in this episode is that their theme builds here, at first you can hear it only a little bit in their scenes, but then it builds to the library almost kiss scene. Also the tone begins to change from lighter and funny to full angst and intensity.

the first time you hear it a little bit is when they are thinking about each other at the beginning of the episode

then you can hear it again during the heavy breathing hunting scene

of course you can hear it during the library scene at night when they look intensely at each other (and it's a little bit longer)

and of course in the almost kiss scene and even if it's not a complete theme yet, it's building

after the proposal to Edwina, we have entered full angst territory, and their theme begins to reflect that. And so we have the second version of their theme published on the soundtrack: Nothing Could Keep Me Away. You can hear it during the pinkie almost touch scene at the beginning of the episode.

you can hear it a little bit when Kate is thinking about their almost kiss during the arrangements of the wedding with the Queen

you can hear it again during the scene where he caresses the ring on her finger

during the conversation between Kate and Lady Danbury about Edwina and Anthony, and how only a scandal could prevent the wedding to happen we can hear the third version published of their theme: They are Betrothed. This version is even angstier and full of pain.

you can hear it again when Anthony is jealous and also when he helps her off the boat

now we have the fourth version of their theme, the one you can hear in ‘the bane of my existence’ scene, Not Far Enough. This version is intense, it’s sensual but also full of angst.

you can hear their theme again when Edwina confesses to Kate that she loves Anthony (probably because at that point Kate decided to put her feelings aside for her sister’s happiness)

EP6

the first time we hear their theme in this episode is when Anthony helps Kate with the bangle during the wedding

we can hear it again after Kate has the first show off with her family, sees Anthony with his family and then searches refuge in the closet, taking off her bangles angrily

it’s even there a little bit when Anthony says the ‘thorne’ line to Edwina and then adds the ‘this is what i know’

and of course we can hear it loud and clear when they are alone in the closet and Anthony touches her hand and says ‘wait’

and then at the end of the episode, when they kiss, we have the fifth version of their theme, To Wait. You can hear the anticipation at the beginning of the theme, the yearning, and then finally the explosion of the music when they kiss. It’s still full of angst but also full of love. They are done lying to themselves about their feelings.

EP7

we can hear it during Kate’s dream about the kiss

it’s also there when they look at each other from a distance during the promenade

then we have the sixth version of their theme, Happy Endings Don’t Exist. It starts when Edwina says that line to Kate and continues to Anthony approaching her and wanting to discuss their kiss. It’s a sad version this one, because despite wanting to be together they feel with the scandal, Edwina’s broken heart and so on, they can’t. No happy ending indeed.

Then we reach the end of the episode and we have the seventh version of their theme, It’s My Fault. It starts when Anthony wakes up the morning after, follow by Kate remembering their night together, follow by Anthony wanting to propose and then continues with them racing in the park under the rain. This version is chaotic, full of feelings, angst, and action. Because well the end of ep7 is chaotic, a lot of things happen.

EP8

at the beginning we have a continuation of It’s My Fault’s theme. Then something shifts this episode because we begin to have a building of another theme between them. Very similar to the other one, but also arranged in a different way

we can hear it when Anthony and Violet discuss why he didn’t go to see her

we can hear it when Kate wakes up and asks about Anthony

also during the first proposal

we can also hear it when Kate confesses to Mary that Anthony proposed and she said no

and THEN we have the full on theme who seems different, but really the base is the same, just arranged in a different way. It’s the I love you theme. It’s full of love, passion and feelings. They are free to love each other, and to be together. And this theme expresses all of that in a truly beautiful way.

And here we are to the last version of their theme that is basically an ensemble of all the precedent versions, just with an happier tone, Newlyweds. It’s happy, it’s full of love, it’s truly the perfect happily ever after.
