The first rule of fandom is have fun. The second rule of fandom is find an enabler and become an enabler. Yes you should write that fic. What if it was even hornier? What if it was angstier? What if you wrote it just for me?
prompts are here! be sure to vote to decide when the event will be held if you haven't already!
the results are in!
women of dc week will take place august 16-22, 2026! have fun creating!
the best fanfiction you've ever read was written by a woman in her 40s before she made dinner for her kids. it was written by a teenager after school when they should've been studying for a history test. and a barista came up with the idea while they cleaned the espresso machine and busser fact-checked it on their break and the post-doc edited between writing grant proposals and the nurse apologized for typos in the notes after a long shift and behind every drabble and one-shot and multi-chapter fic there is a person with a wonderful and interesting and chaotic life and it is such a privilege that we get to be apart of it because they decided to do this thing we all share, for fun.
Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: Marvel, Batman - All Media Types Rating: General Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: James "Bucky" Barnes/Jason Todd Characters: James "Bucky" Barnes, Jason Todd Additional Tags: Alternate Universe - Soulmates, Bucky Barnes as Revolution (Marvel), Protective Bucky Barnes, Blood and Injury Series: Part 6 of Misaligned Summary:
Bucky isn’t sure what compelled him to drive to Gotham City tonight.
Have you read fic(s) where the main pairing has under 50 total works on ao3?

Your comments mean something even when the author never replies.
Sometimes your comments mean something especially when the author never replies.
exactly this
wow. yeah. look, it's been a while. I've been getting maybe a couple of AO3 comments a week for my entire adult life. Almost twenty years. I am not the best at replying to them now because it's been almost twenty years! But I love and cherish every one.
An Empty Apartment
Peter knows, he knows, that May’s apartment is empty by now. Even if Happy hadn’t been careful to pack up May’s belongings and tuck them into storage, the building manager would have tossed everything before hiring the cleaners and painters to fix it up, ready to rent to the next family who can barely afford it.
That doesn’t stop him from scaling the wall and slipping through the window into his childhood bedroom.
Not that he’s an adult now, not really, he might be 18 (or 23, depending on how these things are counted now), he might be a superhero, but in this moment he doesn’t feel it. In this moment, he wishes he could curl up next to May, feel her arms around him, comforting him like she did the night Ben died. Like the night Tony died. And, so long ago he can barely remember, the night his parents died.
The apartment doesn’t even smell right anymore.
No more burnt attempts at cooking, no more citrus scented candles, no more wisps of May’s floral perfume that she’d stopped wearing when Peter told her about his enhanced senses.
Just the acrid smell of industrial cleaner and the high-hiding white paint that covers everything.
Peter sinks to the floor, needing a moment to collect himself.
This isn’t his home anymore.
Home is the roach-infested studio apartment he found for $500 a week, no questions asked so long as he pays cash every Friday. With the broken water heater and windows that don’t lock.
Home is the air above the streets, where he swings from building to building, always on the lookout for someone who needs his help.
Home is the roof of the building across from the coffee shop where MJ works, where he can keep an eye on both MJ and Ned, without their knowledge. Which isn’t creepy at all, he just wants to make sure they’re safe.
Sighing, Peter pushes back to his feet and slips back through the window, silently climbing back to the street. He sets off towards his new (really old, dilapidated) apartment building, hoping he can make enough in tips tonight to buy a full week of groceries. Or maybe, that someone will be generous and buy their friendly neighborhood Spider-Man dinner.
If not, he can always grab a meal at FEAST.
So...I know it took me a while, but I've finally finished writing this fic:
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
If you've been waiting to start until it was completed, now's your chance! If you've been patiently waiting for the past year and change for the latest chapter, please have the rest of the fic and my utmost gratitude for your patience.

“I mean…maybe.” Dinah spins her engagement ring around her finger.

um, did we all know there's an academic paper written about Down to Agincourt fanbindings or was I supposed to find out myself when I tried googling the sunrise covers to pull up an image to show my bro??
o yea here's the actual link to the article:
In this paper, we examine the design process of fanbinding, through which physical, printed copies of fanfiction works are created and share
and excerpt from the abstract:
...For our case study, we chose the work-in-progress fanfiction series Down to Agincourt, currently four novels long, which takes as its critical starting point a single episode of the long-running television series Supernatural (2005-2020). Down to Agincourt occupies an unusual context by being highly literary in structure; its deliberate layers of complexity are designed to invite rereading and discussion. Its fans may be trying to possess an innately ephemeral thing: to encompass and annotate the text, to seek a more intimate relationship with it, or perhaps to memorialise the intimacy of the relationship they already have, a book being a beloved signifier of something less stable, more slippery. We report on a survey and interviews of Down to Agincourt fans investigating fanbinding conventions and preferences, in order to learn how fans discursively practise this highly affective art form.
...they surveyed and interviewed DTA fans....
i’m going to hold your hands when i say this and i am only going to be kind about it once: ai does not belong in fandom spaces, ever. not in writing, not in art, not in video, not at all. it does not matter how bad you want to see your favourite characters kiss, or how much you need a bit of help finishing a chapter, or whatever.
make friends with artists. commission somebody. learn to draw yourself. ask for a beta read. try a writing partnership. fandom spaces are communities, so engage with them! it is about the journey and the fact that we all love something enough to create and build together about that thing.
spending 30 seconds to kill a tree and get an AI to push out some soulless empty piece of “content” is antithetical to the entire point of being engaged with fandom, and if you’ve taken to doing this you should really reconsider if you belong in these spaces with the rest of us.
