All right, I can't be nice about this one. I'm so sorry.
That is categorically the dumbest shit I've ever heard. Just in general.
I am an introvert myself. When I was recovering from my hysterectomy last year, I was alone A LOT. It was great. It was so peaceful. I had little stress. I am exceedingly comfortable with being alone. But at the same time, I still needed some company and support and friends. Being alone for extended periods of time can become too much for any one person.
Tom is human.
All humans need connection. We are not a solitary species. That's not how this works. This is scientifically incorrect. Tom might need others LESS than an extrovert, sure, but it will NEVER be at a zero. He simply would not survive as a human.
Not to mention, Tom/Voldemort gathered a huge following, both in school and out of school. He wasn't alone. When do we ever see Voldemort alone in the books/movies?
We don't.
I suspect he was a lonely person trying to fill a void he didn't know how to fill.
This take just doesn't understand the complexities of human life and of nature itself.
On the note of being around others, I don't think people necessarily need close friends irl, but we do need some sort of human connection. Maybe it's just a work colleague/acquaintance. Maybe it's staying connected with parents or friends entirely online. Maybe it's only a very small amount of social interaction you need to feel balanced/meet that need (I know that I definitely fall into the low spectrum of in person relationships) and that's fine, but you still need some kind of social interaction, even if you aren't friends. Actually, I think there's a bit of conflation here between the idea of having friends and not being alone. I wouldn't say there is anybody in person who'd I consider the level of "friend," but I have several acquaintances in classes and at work, family members I have close relationships, and other ways I meet my social needs.
That being said, I don't think this is the case for Tom. Like at all.
Tom doesn't read like an introvert to me, at least not in canon. There's no indication that social interactions or aurrounding himself with others is exhausting and that he needs time alone to recharge. He loves putting on a performance and being seen. He may not view others as equals, but he still wants to be around them and to have people see him. He may not want to let people in or be vulnerable (even if he really needs to be), but that's not the same as not needing to be around others.
