The Problem

on my way to the cafe, my car buzzed with the faint whisper of One Direction songs, which was interrupted by the occasional announcement of directions on the map, when i got a text from Gabi, one of my friends i’d made on my last modelling trip to germany, saying she was in town for a shoot and i was undeniably happy to say yes when she asked to meet up, considering i was already planning on coffee and ice-cream.

10 minutes later, i reached at the cafe, it had just opened up on the ground level of this little hotel run by two lovely old ladies, the teal outside complimenting the beige wood, flooring and overall vibe of the place

lost in my thoughts admiring the variety of hibiscus trees, i get jolted back by a familiar voice calling my name, Gabi’s voice,

“Ohhhh! i missed you so much honey!” i smiled, hugging her

“what makes you think i didn’t miss you!” she replies, squeezing me so hard that i almost had to cough mid-hug, but not without noticing something

“Gabrielle Hanes, tell me, what is that ring you’re wearing on a special little finger?” i smiled slyly

“oh, um, I’m Engaged!! surprise!!!(?)” she said enthusiastically but also a little unsure

“Girl i’m so happy for you, you did get engaged to Patrick right?” i joke

“OMG, Yes! who else would be able to handle me?” i smiles, showing off the ring

“aah! we will debrief, but let’s order first?”

“yes please” she replied

after replying and liking some of the comments that had come through, i put down my phone, deciding to make lunch so that when Mason and James came back home from Work and School respectively they’s have something to eat

deciding on a simple garlic bread and pasta/salad tuoe thing, i got to work tackling all the tasks that required me having to use a knife, and within an hour and a half (and some tears) i’d managed to make lunch that tasted as good as it looked, and fyi, my presentation is always godlike

anyways, after being done with lunch, i scrolled on my phone, whose fyp page was filled with edits of nobody other than Lando Norris

sighing, i put my phone down but to my demise i turned out to be Lia texting me about Lando again…

outrageous. utterly and completely outrageous, i mean, i couldn’t believe it, Lia pitching me to ‘potentially’ date lando was fine, but giving him my info to buy me a plane ticket was too far, but alas, i decided to text Lando, i mean, i’d be lying if i said i wasn’t a little curious about what could be

deciding on sending him a simple, “hey Lando, Maya this side, I’m Lia’s SIL, she told me to text you”

i send the message and not even a moment later, Lando replies, “hii, i knew you wete supposed to text me. anyway, i can’t talk right now, i’m supposed to be doing media, i’ll text you later if that’s fine?”

“yeah, of course, i’ll be waiting” i reply back with a slight smile

I woke up to the sound of ruckus from my brother Mason and my nephew James running around and what I could only assume was the living room, with my sister sister-in-law, Lia gone on a work trip to the F1 Grand Prix, I was officially the only adult in the house despite my brother being four years older than me

Getting out of bed with no knowledge of what time it was or where my phone was and why my alarm didn’t go off I walked out of my room to see Mason chasing James and the waffle iron smoking with drips of what I could only assume was batter

“ Mason! Are you insane?” I scolded my brother.

“auntie May!” James shouted and ran up to me to hug me

“hi bug” I said softly brushing my fingers through his blonde hair something I had to thank my sister-in-law for,

“do you know mama is going to work with really fast cars?” James asked me.

“yeah, bug I know” I smiled “which one’s your favourite?”

“the owange one!” he giggled

“Lando” my brother chirp in “Lando Norris is his favourite”

“wait, wasn’t it like Max Verstappen from Red Bull or something?”

“yeah well, he’s been growing an obsession over Lando the past month” Mason shrugged

“well anyways, what time is it?”

“it’s like 7:30-ish?” Mason replied. “why?”

“Mason! You doofus, James has got school in like half an hour, go get him ready”

Mason, who was now coming over to me from cleaning up the waffle iron took James from my arms who was who was resting on my hip with his cheek on my shoulder,

“C’mon bug! you gotta get ready for school” i nodded, sad at the sudden loss of weight from my body

now, that Mason was getting James ready, i retreated back into my room to find my phone and get fresh

25 minutes later, i had found my phone, showered, texted Lia, and made lunch for James, and now mason was taking him to school

after they left, i finally had the house to myself, leaving me alkne in my thoughts until i’d gotten 25 messages from Lia, checking them, it was all photos of Lando Norris

confused, i texted her,

dropping my phone onto my chest after 10 minutes of being left on delivered, i accepted defeat, and decided i’d be going to the cute little cafe that’d just opened up

getting dressed in a cute pink sundress, and texting mason so he knew i wasn’t home, since he was probably gonna come back home before heading off to work. i got in my car, and started driving to the cafe, one direction songs playing from my car’s bluetooth
