We are currently looking for writers for Bamboo, Mangrove, and Oak kingdom, but all of the kingdoms could use some more applicants.
Applications will continue until the 26th, but if we don't have 20 applicants, an artist and writer for each kingdom, we will have to extend again which will throw off the zine timeline heavily.

The SBK community is very rare among mcyt spaces for how accepting they are of fanfics, very rarely does a creator care about fanfics and the SBK discord has it's own dedicated channel for them! I really want to show to everyone just how amazing that is. In SBK1 the fanfic channel was used frequently, and that slowed down dramatically during season 2. This is meant to be a revitalization of sorts, so please sign up!

The SBK writing zine is a zine dedicated to celebrating the amazing authors in the sbk community! Similar to the way special editions of books will have the main story with interspersed artworks of the characters, each kingdom will have a writer and an artist who will write a fic about a kingdom, then draw the characters from the fic.
The goal is to create an AO3 collection to send in the Skyblock Kingdoms Community Discord, with the art being posted on Tumblr. Artists and writers may post their works individually after the zine is completed. As a result we will be following creator rules regarding content, so long as the rules in question can be easily found.
(Note this is not the mods taking a moral stance on rule breaking content in fandom spaces, just that this zine is meant to be shared in creator spaces so it and it's discord will follow those rules.)
Writers are expected to write 750 to 3k words in their fic, but that is a soft range and can be discussed with the mods individually.
Artists are expected to draw both island partners together in some way inspired by the fic, either the designs if they're different from canon, or a scene from the fic.
Applications will begin on July 12th and close around the 19th. The goal will be to have applications sorted and responded to by the end of July, with the creating period being a minimum of beginning of August to beginning of November, with extensions going up to January if necessary.

After the writer deadline, artists will have an additional 2 weeks for finishing touches after the fic has finished.
While this zine planning started before the information came out about Marma1ade and Avidmc, we want to make it clear we do not support their actions and stand with sbk. It is difficult to remove their influence from all of sbk, especially with writing, so mentions of them are not banned, but please keep their involvement in your stories to a minimum.
We will not be including Birch2 and Doak2 in this zine because they were on the server for too short of a time for their characters to become fully developed, and mods feel as though it would be difficult for writers to get a solid grasp of the characters without drawing entirely on other series or headcanons.
