Sometimes i think about how lotus blossom COULD have been an accualy interesting villain if they committed to ONE of the ways they were trying to characterize her & mickey

Because lotus blossom is obviously meant to be a femme fatale, shes tall shes curvy shes beautiful and she gets close to mickey ALOT, not to mention as racist as it was femme fatales were often depicted as poc simply to add to the "mysteriousness"/ to make them more "exitic", the whole point of femme fatale is that there meant to be sexually appealing but "Dont last that long" there often meant to show sexuality in a bad light despite apoealing to the audience

And all thise things? There an industry issue, i could rant abt them but it woudnt be this comic specific, the main issue regarding lotus blossom outside the blunt racism is that- shes not a femme fatale. She's a molestor.

The whole "point" of a femme fatale is that the main character should like them even if it's shallow, they SHOULD be fighting against their attraction to them, theres a reason why in slang it's reffered to as "wanting that cookie" it's fighting off something thats not good for you but something you activley want.

Mickey does NOT like her, he's not once depicted attracted to her OR as much as being charmed by her, he's scared of her not to mention most of the time she forces- yes forces im not gonna reffer to it as anything else, everytime lotus forces her physical affection upon him there usually far away from any crowd, completly alone- hell in one of the comics she literallry tricks him into going away from the crowd (& minnie) into an empty alleyway- you know a place you usually think of when imagining sexual assult, that mixed with his extreme expressions? How did they NOT notice that they wrote down text definition of sexual assult? Not subtext Just plain straight in your face text

HE'S CRYING, not to mention what shes saying to him here :/

They WANTED to write lotus as a femme fatale, she never gets accualy punished for her actions against mickey and MICKEY gets blamed as if he was the one trying anything with her, by minnie by goofy, I geniuenly think they wanted a femme fatale but were too scared of showing mickey attracted to a woman that isnt minnie so instead they went in the opposite direction BUT HE STILL GETS TREATED AND PUNISHED AS IF HE WASNT PUSHING HER AWAY EVERY CHANCE HE HAD

There is many factories to that but one that has been bugging me the most is the fact pete is a cat and it not only is put into his design so poorly many people dont register it but how little it effects his relationship with mickey, shoudn't there be some implications with it? Some symbolism? Visual language? Any commentary? A cat as a hunter is most well known for hunting down mice and eating them even if you don't want any commentary paired with it i think it should be brought more light, mickey rarely is afraid of pete on his own but woudn't it be more interesting if he instinctingly were afraid of him?

Of his sharp claws, of his pointy teeth, of his terrefyingly working pupils, of his tail waggling behind him, that is if he had any of those.

Ironicly the most animal symbolism i've seen with mickey is in mmmm with gloria Gump and there that representation wasn't even done with mammals or touched up on mickey being a mouse the most pray of pray animals and instead uses visual language representing him as a small fish and gloria as a hungry giant fish (and while in context of mmmm I think it's interesting with mickeys whole drowning deal heing brought up and all but my point still stands)

Like...drusilla, an immortal that pretended to be a young naive girl that is completley lost and in desperate need of help only for it to turn out that she single handenly made elixir to keep herself young forever and menaged to keep it a secret for definitley over few decades, has made chemical poison able not only to completly stun people but also to mind control them based only on her experiments that again she was doing solo and in secret AND she successfuly manipulated not only mickey but the viewer as well through most of her story, then at the end she used armed guns and looked flawless while doing so (a rare thing for me to say)

Katarina kodorofsky is one of few antagonists in these damn comics that doesn't suddenly switch up on mickey and also isn't evil just against him because their goals clash YET she and him menage to have an amazing dynamic where neither is underastimated and they both ballance eachother really well BUT their relationship isnt just "there friends" or "there enemies" and is in a third completley different box where they respect eachother and somewhat like eachother but still arent just on one same side all while katarinas a SPY that can kick ass so hard mickey never ever doubted her AND her designs so PEAK it aint even funny

The sfynx NOT ONLY IS THE NAME COOL AS SHIT but one of the first things we see her do is go trade guns with a dealer while wearing the COOLEST disguise she professionaly works with guns to the point her putting together a gun she has never seen before under 12 seconds is considered rooky by herself and at the end of her FIRST scene it's implemented she killed her dealer & took one of his most precious guns then through the story she comes THIS close to killing mickey 3 times all while keeping her indentity a secret untill the end where pattie had to call mickey to warn him because she menaged to crack the case open back at anderville

The sfynx has the most PEAK OF PEAK of designs Katarina had an amazing Arc going on w mickey and their relationship AND DRUSILLAS CHARACTER POTENTIAL HELLO?
