The Identity Dressing Room is a blog dedicated to helping people test out or “try on” different gender identities, pronouns, and/or names through audio posts! we record sentences or paragraphs that include anything the asker requests, and also post the sentence or paragraph so it can be seen visually!

NOTE 1: While we always try to double check pronunciations, don’t be afraid to include Pronunciation or send in a correction (we’ll gladly re-record)!

NOTE 2: We have the right to refuse any request as we see fit - largely this refers to asks that include some sort of bigotry or harmful media. Thank you for understanding!

Ask Instructions:

do not include potentially triggering or particularly mean spirited content in your message! swears will, currently, also not be read

(optional) any other fun stuff you want to be in the message? hobbies, interests, etc.?

(optional) worried about pronunciation? feel free to throw in some instructions or references!

Alternatively, you can just send in exactly what you want us to record, and we’ll read off of that!

I like folklore, especially Slavic Norse and Celtic, as well as learning as many languages as i can (i currently know 3 well enough to speak freely and am learning 2 others)

I also love dogs and writing, and reading

Sam is a cool guy with a lot of linguistic knowledge! I’d love to know which three languages he’s comfortable with speaking freely, learning languages is so cool! They’re learning two other languages, which is incredible to me. Depending on what languages Sam’s learning, he might have more access to Slavic, Norse, and Celtic mythology and a whole realm of understanding! I hope their target languages bring them some fun reading, and I hope Sam’s doing well!

Bruce is a cool guy who spends a lot of time with its dogs! Sol likes to play video games, and I hope suns dogs hang out with sun while sol plays! I think Bruce would enjoy having its dogs with it while it plays games or watches horror movies, or even when it’s just listening to its music! Sol seems really nice, and I hope sol’s doing well and has a good time!

hey there! so, let me see if I've got this right: you're a boy 100% of the time, always a guy, with no "percentage" change in boyhood - BUT with the fluid change of masculinity, femininity, or neither (androgyny or nothingness?) added on top for a lil flavor?

when you say you feel masc, fem, or neither, is that in regards to like your presentation, or does it feel like... core to your gender? I suppose that can be hard to differentiate, but if it's exclusively a flux in how you like to present, then I think that makes perfect sense!

I describe myself as agender, but with other genders'... vibes? added on like a little bit of seasoning. like vanilla ice cream with masculine sprinkles! doesn't change what kind of ice cream it is, just a little shakeup!

if it feels more I suppose like a core part of your gender that shifts on Top of being a boy, then I'm afraid I don't have much of an answer for you - I did some poking around the genderfluid and genderflux micro labels, but I couldn't seem to find one where one part is stable and the other is liquid - but maybe I was looking in the wrong spot?

I'm sorry I couldn't be more help, but maybe if you answer the questions I asked, it'll help the both of us! also, possibly, some other followers might have suggestions/advice! I'm going to set this loose in the genderfluid/flux tags and hope maybe someone in those communities can help us out a bit!

Hey there, Blair! So, I myself am not genderfluid BUT I can understand to a degree! Gender is confusing and sometimes the vibes are just... contradictory of how our minds understand gender, you know?

I think about it this way: words like Prince Or Princess, Wife Or Husband, Sir Or Ma’am, etc., pronouns, names, and honorifics like Mr., Ms., Mx., etc. - those are all just verbal clothes.

Clothes don’t have genders. Anyone can wear a skirt, regardless of gender! I think the most common example of this, verbally, in society is the usage of dude. Strictly, “dude” is a “boy” word - but most people don’t do that.

What I’m getting at is, you don’t have to identify with boyhood to be able to identify with masculinity! Non-binary folk and women alike can play with masculinity, and so can we! Call yourself a guy without being a guy, per se, be a boyfriend who happens to be a girl, he can be the princess!

Play with masculinity no matter your gender, and see what works with you. The worst that can happen is you find out something didn’t quite fit the way you thought it did - but that’s not a problem!

Reflect on what you’re feeling and why you’re feeling it, but keep in mind you don’t need to have a tidy little word to put it under.

I would love to get a recording for Thaddeus with he/him pronouns! It’s pronounced th-Ah-dee-us! For some context… today I cleaned my room and it felt really good and my class really liked my improv yesterday! It also started to snow, so I’m having a good week :). Thank you so much!

I hope Thaddeus is having another good week! He seemed really happy about his improv and snow, so I hope he gets more pleasant moments like that! I for one think it’s great he was able to clean his room, I know it can be so refreshing when you have the energy for that sort of thing. I hope Thaddeus did more cool improv, and that he’s still doing well!
