I think Adriana fell for Brayden. Hard. But when Brayden quit right after they initially didn’t qualify for World’s, it temporarily shattered her trust in whatever they could actually be.

Adriana’s heart, hurt and bruised, went back to what felt safe and familiar. Freddie.

Yes Freddie was her first love. Yes it was sweet. But what Adriana was building with Brayden was more mature. Way more passionate.

If BTVS was on Ice, Adriana and Freddie would be Bangel. Melodramatic. Their connection started at a young age and didn’t really mature past that. Adriana and Brayden would be Spuffy, A lot of relationship evolution. Enemies to lovers. Super intense. All encompassing.

I know that in the books Adriana and Freddie end up together, but plenty of book series turned show series have quintessential changes to the canon relationships. Some we like, some we don’t Damon should have ended up with Bonnie like he did in the books but I digress

I say that to say, Team Braydriana.

And like it’s crazy because Kai thought it would be such a hard choice for Damon when in reality he stopped listening after “….a dying Bonnie Bennet…”

From not caring if the other one lived or died, to making a death pact.

From “I will always choose Elena” to “heads it is”.

The old Damon would have gladly killed Bonnie to save Elena. Probably would have even killed Stefan if he had to. Elena was actually kinda scared when Damon told her that Bonnie’s life was linked to her’s. She thought Damon would quickly kill Bonnie and she would be back, somewhat sad, but back.

Elena didn’t realize just how deep Damon and Bonnie’s relationship had become until Damon made his choice to Kai’s ultimatum. I don’t think Bonnie even knew until he killed Kai, making the spell/life link permanent. When he came back the “you thought I would leave you all alone?” Hits different. Because even the fans weren’t really sure.

In the end, I always thought Elena gave Bonnie permission to continue to explore with Damon. The line:

“We’ll both get everything we want. We just can’t have it at the same time” does it for me.

Realizing they both fell in love with the same man, and somehow ending up in a situation where they could both have him. The writers dropped the ball. Big time.

Damon was the most domesticated with Bonnie. Grocery shopping. Cooking. Sitting down to have an actual meal. Like stop playing with my parents

It only took 1 time *post Kai’s Bonnie/Elena Life Bond* for Bonnie to get hurt, before Damon removed himself from her life.

Damon loved Bonnie on such a pure and unselfish level. He let all the people that loved him down, time after time after time, but he couldn’t bare letting Bonnie down again. He knew the love Bonnie had for him (Enzo knew it *cough*) and he didn’t want Bonnie putting her life on the line for him him anymore.

Bamon should have been Canon.
