I Danced Til Dusk has updated! Read chapter 23 here! Please note that this is a chapter brief and not a full chapter!!
Hi guys. There’s been some important news I have to share with you… As of right now, I Danced Til Dusk is on hiatus for the forseeable future. It hurts me to say it, but I’ve lost much of my will to continue this story. A large part of that is because I’ve lost touch with my natural writing style. Those that know my style well know that I like to bring a lot of emotions and a bit of poetry into my writing, and I Danced Til Dusk has been missing that for quite some time. It’s really hard to write when your style and muse are out of sync…
Another large reason for the hiatus is that I’m preparing to work on the next draft of this story. I’ve really grown since I started working on the current draft back in 2014 and the original back in 2011, and I really feel like this current draft hasn’t been keeping up with me. There’s a lot of things I wish I’d handled differently now that I have a better feel for how the story should go and what’s appropriate. For one thing, there’s a lot of changes I want to make to the characters and settings that I feel this current draft doesn’t allow me to make. For instance: Kai is non-binary. That is canon, but I can’t bring that up in this draft as Kai wouldn’t know what that is or what it means, and we don’t get to explore his mind enough to see that. Another thing I’d like to make clear is that Carla is biracial and half latina. Her mother is from Venezuela, but we don’t get to see that in the current canon because of I Danced Til Dusk’s intentionally vague setting. In the next draft, IDTD will be set in a fictional city in California, and we’ll be able to learn a lot more about Carla and her history (potentially including a very big secret she’s been keeping).
Will I be posting anymore updates for the current draft? I don’t know at this time… It’s possible if my motivation returns. Will I be posting the next draft? That depends on if anyone’s actually interested in reading it. Let me know! Until then, have a wonderful holiday you guys, and a happy and prosperous new year!

So, over all, I got a lot of writing done this month! I’m pretty satisfied with the progress I’ve made, but I didn’t get as far as I’d hoped. Here’s the breakdown:

Not bad! I didn’t quite make my 25k goal for the month, but I’m still satisfied with what progress I have made. I aim to write more in the months to come!! Write on!

NaNoWriMo Progress Report: End Week 2
So, as I predicted in my last progress report, things started slowing down for me this week. They started picking up again towards the end, but I expect to see more of this slow progress going forward as I just got a job. Here’s the breakdown:

I Danced Til Dusk: 0 (still ^^’)

Total: 15,605

Progress towards 50k NaNo Goal: 31.21%
Progress towards 25k Personal Goal: 62.42%
Progress towards 35k Stretch Goal: 44.59%
Average Words/Day: 1,115
Overall I’m still fairly satisfied with my progress, but I do think I’m going to keep to my original goals I tentatively put out at the beginning of the month. Those I feel are well within my limits while still posing enough of a challenge to push me. That’s all for now. Write on!

So I’ve made a lot of progress this week! A lot of progress, this might actually be the first year I’m on target for the NaNoWriMo goal of 50k words! However, my progress has been spread out over multiple projects, so I’ll break it down by project (listed here in order of priority):

I Danced Til Dusk: 0
Bright (my new FF fanfic): 3,848

Total: 11,735
Some additional statistics for you:
Average words/day: 1,676.43
Of my Primary Goal of 25k words: 46.94% Complete
Of my Stretch Goal of 35k words: 33.53% Complete
Of the NaNoWriMo Goal of 50k words: 23.47% Complete
Not bad! I’m very happy with how far I’ve come! Though I do wish most of that work had gone into TDT… I said I would assess my progress at the end of the first week and adjust my goals accordingly. With as much progress as I’ve made, you’d think I’d want to increase my personal and stretch goals, but these last couple days I’ve actually been slowing down in my writing… I’m gonna play it conservative and keep my goals as they are for now. If I continue to see steady progress such as this by the end of Week 2, I may adjust them then. That’s all for now!
So, NaNoWriMo…
Well guys, it’s about that time of the year again~ This year I’m doing something a little different.
In previous years I’ve always focused pretty heavily on bulking up I Danced Til Dusk, but this year, I have a new story in mind: The Dragon Thief. I’ve been preparing for this story for the last 3-4 months, ever since the idea for a pretty boy clad head-to-toe in gold jewelry unceremoniously butted his way into my head and declared himself to be Rokk. The little shit’s been dying for his turn in the spotlight ever since, and now he’s finally getting it! I will still be working on IDTD a bit, but TDT is my main focus this year.
In previous years, I’ve also acknowledged that I don’t the time or discipline it takes to tackle the full 50k word goal. That still holds true for this year, so I’ll be setting a much more manageable goal for myself. I’m tentatively setting a goal of 25k words with a stretch goal of 35k, but I’m leaving that goal open for adjustments as I go. After the first week I should have a better idea of what I’ll be capable of and revise my goals accordingly.

As many of you may know, next month is NaNoWriMo. As such, I’ll be concentrating that month on getting some writing done, partly on this story, but mostly on my new project I’ve been working on developing for the last few months (if you follow my main blog on tumblr, you may have seen mentions of this, particularly mentions to a new character named Rokk). What this means for IDTD is that the next update won’t be until December 24th. I apologize for the long waits between updates, guys. IDTD is kind of a lesser priority for me right now, but I’m still gonna keep trying to get these chapters out to you guys. I owe it to the story!

Does your OC have any interesting qualities in their voice? Such as an accent, a lisp, a tendency to say sounds wrong? Any verbal tics?
Oooh I love giving my characters distinct speech patterns and dictions! My favorite has to be Elliot’s. Without giving away spoilers, Elliot is not human, but at times he has the physical appearance of a human. In his true form, he possesses very large top and bottom fangs, and he can manifest these fangs in his human form as well when he chooses (or when he’s angry and starting to lose control of himself). However, his fangs are larger than his human mouth can comfortably accommodate, and they make talking difficult. Elliot compensates for this by projecting his voice slowly and clearly and using very precise diction and somewhat exaggerated mouth movements so that his words don’t blur together. He can only speak quietly or quickly if his fangs aren’t present or else it comes out sounding like a mumble or a growl, and if his fangs are out, then you’ll also hear a faint, continuous rumbling in the back of his throat that gets louder the more he loses control. He’s also probably the most well-spoken of all my OCs and tends to be very charming when he wants to be, provided you ignore the strange way his mouth moves when he speaks (it’s pretty subtle when his fangs aren’t showing, he’s had years of practice with this)

Hey everyone! I hope you enjoy this chapter! This has been one of my favorite chapters to write so far, mostly because in it I get to introduce our last new character to the story, Elliot Young! I have a very important question for you all that I need you to answer for me after you read:
