I Danced Til Dusk has updated! Read chapter 23 here! Please note that this is a chapter brief and not a full chapter!!

Hi guys. There’s been some important news I have to share with you... As of right now, I Danced Til Dusk is on hiatus for the forseeable future. It hurts me to say it, but I’ve lost much of my will to continue this story. A large part of that is because I’ve lost touch with my natural writing style. Those that know my style well know that I like to bring a lot of emotions and a bit of poetry into my writing, and I Danced Til Dusk has been missing that for quite some time. It’s really hard to write when your style and muse are out of sync...

Another large reason for the hiatus is that I’m preparing to work on the next draft of this story. I’ve really grown since I started working on the current draft back in 2014 and the original back in 2011, and I really feel like this current draft hasn’t been keeping up with me. There’s a lot of things I wish I’d handled differently now that I have a better feel for how the story should go and what’s appropriate. For one thing, there’s a lot of changes I want to make to the characters and settings that I feel this current draft doesn’t allow me to make. For instance: Kai is non-binary. That is canon, but I can’t bring that up in this draft as Kai wouldn’t know what that is or what it means, and we don’t get to explore his mind enough to see that. Another thing I’d like to make clear is that Carla is biracial and half latina. Her mother is from Venezuela, but we don’t get to see that in the current canon because of I Danced Til Dusk’s intentionally vague setting. In the next draft, IDTD will be set in a fictional city in California, and we’ll be able to learn a lot more about Carla and her history (potentially including a very big secret she’s been keeping).

Will I be posting anymore updates for the current draft? I don’t know at this time... It’s possible if my motivation returns. Will I be posting the next draft? Well guys, it’s about that time of the year again~ This year I’m doing something a little different.

In previous years I’ve always focused pretty heavily on bulking up I Danced Til Dusk, but this year, I have a new story in mind: The Dragon Thief. I’ve been preparing for this story for the last 3-4 months, ever since the idea for a pretty boy clad head-to-toe in gold jewelry unceremoniously butted his way into my head and declared himself to be Rokk. The little shit’s been dying for his turn in the spotlight ever since, and now he’s finally getting it! I will still be working on IDTD a bit, but TDT is my main focus this year.

In previous years, I’ve also acknowledged that I don’t the time or discipline it takes to tackle the full 50k word goal. That still holds true for this year, so I’ll be setting a much more manageable goal for myself. I’m tentatively setting a goal of 25k words with a stretch goal of 35k, but I’m leaving that goal open for adjustments as I go. After the first week I should have a better idea of what I’ll be capable of and revise my goals accordingly.

So, over all, I got a lot of writing done this month! I’m pretty satisfied with the progress I’ve made, but I didn’t get as far as I’d hoped. Here’s the breakdown:

So I’ve made a lot of progress this week! A lot of progress, this might actually be the first year I’m on target for the NaNoWriMo goal of 50k words! However, my progress has been spread out over multiple projects, so I’ll break it down by project (listed here in order of priority):

Hey everyone! I hope you enjoy this chapter! This has been one of my favorite chapters to write so far, mostly because in it I get to introduce our last new character to the story, Elliot Young! I have a very important question for you all that I need you to answer for me after you read:
