To be fair about Boruto. I don't think he actually knows what kind of person Sasuke really is in regards to his Parenthood. Boruto and Sarada aren't particularly close prior to the Movie so I doubt he knows how long Sasuke has been a Deadbeat Dad. For all he knows, Sasuke has spent plenty of time with Sarada, so I can't exactly be angry at Boruto for liking Sasuke.
Well, Iām not angry at Boruto either! My dislike is directed at the general idea of them pushing the Boruto/Sasuke thing because a.) itās extremely boring and b.) it risks Borutoās consistency.Ā
It has the potential to bring out positive character growth and there is a chance that itāll have a positive outcome, mind you, but Iām afraid that Boruto might just stay oblivious or that heāll never truly address or judge Sasukeās actions even if he learns about them, you know? The risk that theyāll fuck up using the potential and turn it into a farce is there.
Furthermore, the idea that Boruto doesnāt knowing anything about Sasukeās whereabouts sound simply ridiculous to me for a few reasons.
Firstly, Naruto and Hinata talked about him, Boruto knows how he looks like from the photo, he lives in a world full of people who know Sasuke and the Uchiha Clan, he knows and has seen all the other parents in person and even if he isnāt super duper close with every New Gen child, he surely has enough friends and acquaintances (especially his parents) to get some information here and there? People talk, his parents talk, his friends talk, he should have more than enough information to put the pieces together.Ā
Secondly, even if nobody talked about Sasuke, Boruto should be able to deduce that the dude is not around because normal people talk about their friends and families, who they met yesterday, who is coming back from a mission, and so forth.Ā To assume that Boruto ā after being portrayed as a smart genius ā is not able to notice that he has met everybody in his parentsās lives except of Sasuke is weird. Especially when itās Sasuke, someone that everybody claims is soooooo important to Naruto as theyāreĀ Brothersā¢. In Gaiden, Naruto tells Sarada things willingly. Do you think Naruto doesnāt do the same with Boruto? Or that Boruto isnāt curious to ask what Sasuke is up to after hearing stories about him?
In conclusion, Boruto doesnāt live in a tiny bubble surrounded by white noise, but itād take this to make that weak ass explanation sound plausible. Itās just not realistic that all hisĀ knowledge about Sasuke is tied to Sarada alone.
However, I could very well imagine that the creator will truly go with that idea. I could imagine that the creator will just blame it on Lack Of Communicationā¢. And I canāt stress enough how this is the first sign of weak, bad writing.
By simply choosing someone else to play the role of Borutoās sensei, you would be able to avoid the risk to fuck up bad time so easily? Make Boruto learn more from his family members or his parentsā friends, who he actually knows, or some new character. Itād protect Borutoās integrity, it wouldnāt presuppose shitty communication, it wouldnāt focus too much on Uchihas again, and it wouldnāt take away any of Borutoās potential as the clever genius he is said to be.
