It appears that for a brief period during the Buu Saga, Vegeta was considering Gohan as his rival or at the very least, a person to surpass. I believe it makes sense for Vegeta to have considered Gohan as a rival. Vegeta would have used it as motivation to improve himself. We saw that he was devastated and almost considered giving up fighting after Goku’s death.

It would have been an extension of his rivalry with Goku. Would that have been the case if Goku didn’t come back to life? He obviously has no personal animosity towards Gohan like he does towards Goku. So, that could have played a factor in it. How would the dynamics of this rivalry look like? How do you think it would play out?
