A little respect

When my mind becomes fragmented, when my skin feels numb, I return here. I look at the other times when I felt trapped or alone and add a new droplet of sadness to the river.

I’ve burned in the fires of my own failures, I’ve walked through the broken streets and empty homes of those I deserted in their times of need. I’ll never make it up to those I have wronged and it would only bring reminders of hardships to them if I tried. This is why I fight, this is why I live on. Not for glory or my own sense of self-worth, but to atone for my own misgivings. I’ll give my flesh and blood for my sins, I’ll shed my tears in the hope for salvation
