Celestino has (correctly) assumed that there’s nothing he can do to stop teenagers from exercising their underdeveloped prefrontal cortexes. So what if Phichit slipped Yuuri some rave tickets? He just smiles, wishes them luck, and reminds them not to miss practice. JJ has been researching tattoo parlors? As long as it doesn’t interfere with his costume. Guang Hong and Leo are in the middle of a prank war? Just keep it off the ice. Yuuri has stripped down to his underwear and is pole dancing in front of half the ISU? Well has he lost any sponsors? No? Then what’s the problem?

Yuuri's keyboard in particular is interesting to me. It's a fairly large one too and not the beginner's instrument you buy to tinker around with unless you're serious about the thing.

I am just saying creative people, which Victor and Yuuri clearly are, rarely confine themselves to one art form. I am fascinated with the idea of baby Yuuri figuring out what his favourite triad is and then developing a cute little tune from there.

Everything he does is purposeful, even the things he chooses to forget. You don't become the 5 time WORLD! and gpf champion with anything other than strategy, hard work and brains. He's a genius as it is. OF COURSE Victor would be an avid reader.

I'm a reader too and I only own a handful of physical books. Everything else is online.

Look at the amount of books he has collected, and we can figure out how much he actually might have read. Online, borrowed, in libraries. Argh Victor, why are you so fucking AMAZING, I'm not even gonna continue hshsh

And Yuuri, oh Yuura my PRECIOUS BB. I would not be surprised if Yuuri just, turns out to be fucking AWESOME at the keyboard and the piano as well. He is probably the type to silently learn complex, finger-death inducing pieces by himself and think that since he hasn't won anything in this domain, he has no keyboard skills and 'it's just a side hobby thing, eh, better keep it myself". He probably also knows how to read all kinds of sheet music and might've even tried to compose his own music for a program or sumn. Only, it wouldn't have worked out all that well and he got discouraged and even more self conscious about it. (Of course, not like composing isn't a fucking monstrous task in itself, and not being able to do it on your first try as a figure skater, not a composer is a mistake on your part Yuuri, of course)

And that line about creative people not limiting themselves to one art form is SO. FUCKING. TRUE. Art is intersectional.

Because yes, no matter if it's dancing, painting, singing, writing whatever tf, at the end of the day, it's Art.

Sorry, I got carried away. And still though, looking at these clear pictures of their rooms really makes me wanna see Victor's house so fucking bad. Yuu-topia too.

We know so little about him canonically, and yet, he is my absolute favorite ( Yuuri too), my comfort character and looking into his home would give so much insight tbh.

Okay, so to begin with, every next thing that's revealed about Victor makes me kin him that much harder. I know kinning in general is cringey as can be but well, it's true. It's creepy how similar he is to me and honestly from that POV as well as my understanding of Victor, I think getting his character right is a struggle in itself and the balance between his airhead self and his genius self is a very thin line to toe.

I absolutely adore airhead Victor because imo it's accurate to how he is in his emotional state or interpersonal relationships. He is excitable, childish and has a certain innocent fascination with the world and the people in it. I believe that's just canon. I think that particular description is also made accurate by the fact that he has ignored his own emotional connections/relationships/experiences etc. for the longest time. It would make sense for him to not have the tempered reactions of a man nearly thirty in that regard.

What I don't understand is why that has to counter genius Victor, because he clearly is some type of a miracle amongst men. I feel like as the anime progressed it divorced Victor's image from the unachievable standard in his industry and leaned more towards a man that's more like a puppy being ridiculously in love. What the fandom has failed to understand is that it's just the natural progression of his character arc and not a negation of his considerable talent. The best Victor voices are a combination of these two major aspects of his character and it's what I try to bring to my fics every time. He is talented, he is smart and he is ambitious. None of that requires him to stop being soft and vulnerable in love.

Really, the fandom as a whole needs to get their wires uncrossed in this regard. Like you pointed out, Victor is far from an idiot as much as we jokingly like to call him that.

Now, as for Yuuri I one hundred percent agree with you. Before he was a figure skater, he was a dancer. His body has a natural musicality to it which the animators had Victor point out in black and white. It is not surprising at all that he has musical talent. His voice in the Japanese version was a very intentional choice, the soft rhythmic lull of Toshiyuki Toyonaga, I think, was chosen specifically to gel well with that lil keyboard the animators left in for us. This keyboard in itself has given me much trouble too for it makes Yuuri's major in college that much harder to pin down. I like to think he went for something that would provide a solid back up in case figure skating did not work out but Yuuri is extremely emotionally driven so really, it's anyone's bet and what I like to think about his college major, in all probability, is not true.
