#I’d tag them but that’d be rude#It’s like. The idea of the fic is cool it has a really interesting idea#Then the writer just throws in “this specific character is an asshole and nobody really likes them” and it just ruins the whole thing#It’s one thing when said character is central to the plot and the AU follows what would happen if said character was more of an asshole#It’s another when the character isn’t that relevant to the story yet is still made into an unlikable jerk JUST CAUSE#Like an interesting idea is if Charlie (Hazbin hotel) had more of an ego in her idea and was more dismissive of any criticism or suggestion#Eventually pushing away everyone cause she stopped caring about redemption as a way to help people and more as a way to say she’s right#That would be a good way to make someone an asshole in an AU#It’s plot relevant and it actually effects the story beyond “this one character shows up for a bit but is an asshole so after#He leaves he never comes back and everyone just hates him”#It’s just really annoying#So many cool ideas always ruined thing at the last second by implementing this#And yes I did read some of those fics/AUs a bit#It was mostly just character bashing for the sake of character bashing
