the way vulcans are raised it's like, they don't just act like emotions are bad, they almost act like emotions don't exist in vulcans (even though we know from history that that’s not true, but it certainly might seem that way from a child’s point of view)

so the fact that spock is even feeling these emotions isolate him even further from other vulcans as a child because he thinks its so WRONG, it’s not the vulcan way

so he tries to be like the rest of them, pretends his emotions don’t exist, prioritizes logic over everything else because THAT’S the vulcan way

but then when he gets older the fact that he pretends to not have emotions isolates him just as much from the humans he knows because for humans it's wrong to NOT have emotions

they won’t ever let him forget he’s only half-vulcan, half-human, half-breed, but they also won’t let him be both. even the crew of the enterprise. bones treats him like an ALIEN, a green-blooded hobgoblin, while jim calls him the most HUMAN soul he’s ever encountered
