brain child of @siathawisit and started by @maybe-boys-do-love (post). tagged by @hyeoni-comb (here). I'm so very late to this but please know that I've been ruminating over possible choices since the moment I saw this tag game.
Rules: The rasas are South Asian aesthetic categories that remain influential in the regions dramas and art (read more on the wikipedia article here). Literally, it’s the dominant “flavor” of a work or performance. For the game, pick a pair that represents each rasa to you. You can choose whether you want to do CP pairings or just characters. No need to explain unless you feel like it. Then tag 5 friends to find out their flavors of love.
I didn't have one singular approach to this; some of them I assigned to overall shows, some to characters and dynamics, and some to scenes or, idk, vibes. I loved doing this but it certainly was a challenge!
1. Sringara (शृङ्गारः): Romance, Love, Beauty, Eroticism
this was the entire moodboard of Reset, I'm pretty sure.
2. Hasya (हास्यं): Laughter, Mirth, Comedy
oh I miss them suddenly. time for a Knock Knock Boys rewatch?
3. Raudram (रौद्रं): Fury, Anger
I'm pretty sure The Wicked Game set records for rage per minute of runtime.
4. Karuṇā (करुणा): Compassion, Mercy, Spiritual Longing, Sorrow
the way Us managed to hurt and heal me in equal measure, and the sheer amount of grief and grace in this show, may never be replicated.
5. Bībhatsa (बीभत्सं): Disgust, Aversion, Repulsion
I didn't finish The Love Never Sets, but it certainly delivered on the heaviness of the themes.
6. Bhayanaka (भयानकं): Horror, Terror, Overwhelm
please know that I really wanted to use a gif from the stabbing scene (...the first one, anyway) but gif search is useless. anyway Secret Relationships really was teeming with so much psychological terror.
7. Vīram (वीरं): Heroism, Energy, Adventure
Knock Out is forever my beloved for giving me Keen and letting him be the true hero at the center of the story.
8. Adbhutam (अद्भुतं): Awe, Wonder, Amazement
wasn't it just coursing through Yok in Not Me?
9. Santam (शान्तरस): Peace, Tranquility, Calm
so, my take on this rasa is that it's the breath you let out after everything is over, after some measure of truth or resolution has been attained, and to me that's the final scene of 4 Minutes.
as probably the last person on earth to do this, I'm not tagging anyone directly, but anyone who happens to see this in the wild and feel a tickle in their brain can consider themselves psychically looped in.
