Illusion of Bliss
Yandere Yuri Briar x Reader
Word count: 5.5k
Summary: A WISE operative is assigned to infiltrate Yuri Briar under the guise of a harmless relationship.
Warnings: Obsessive and controlling behavior (This is Yuri, what else is new), implied imprisonment, handcuffs, mission gone wrong.
Author’s Notes: I was astonished to find out how little yandere fic there is about him.
Yuri Briar.
The name had already circulated through WISE channels. Yuri wasn't just a cog in the Ostanian bureaucracy; he was a wolf in civil servant's clothing, a high-ranking SSS officer masking his teeth behind a desk at the Foreign Ministry.
That was where your assignment began; you didn't like it.
Not the mission, you were no stranger to grim work, and you'd done far colder things for far less reason. But this was different. You were being asked to step willingly into the orbit of a man described, with zero hyperbole, as a loose cannon.
"Yuri Briar is... emotionally driven," Loid Forger—known to the agency as Twilight—had noted during the briefing. "Highly loyal and intensely reactive when it comes to personal attachments."
A quieter addition, almost as an afterthought:
"He's sharp."
The ending had me by the neck. I thought for a moment that he was going to let us leave.
This was too good. I really wish there were more Yuri Briar fics because he’s such an interesting character.

Dad!Toji taking a nap with Megumi.
You and your husband along side with your son, lived in a cozy traditional Japanese house. It was your dream to live in one specially for the garden with a small pond full of Koi fish.
Toji was at the balcony of the house called engawa, facing the small, typical Japanese garden, relaxing and sunbathing. He was almost dozing off, so he didn't notice when you silently put Megumi next to him, so you could do your own things on the house.
The only thing he felt was tiny hands gripping his shirt for impulse. He opened one eye to see and catch Megumi trying to climb him, so he adjus himself bringing Megumi to his lap.
Now, the two of them were looking at each other in complete silence.
Then Toji decides to break it.
"What?" He questions his son with his typical stoic face.
The only thing the younger Fushiguro did was observe him, before opening a big gummy smile.
Toji melts immediately and sigh in defeat. How is supposed to resist this? He has the charm as his mom. And Toji can't resist this charm.
"Fine." He decides to let this slide, and put his arm under his head to rest, once again.
Megumi understood the assignment and lay his head on the older Fushiguro, taking a nap together.
From where you are, you saw all the interaction. Smiling to yourself you go to the living room decided to watch some series.
Aah, you love these two together.

|| valko x fem.reader (comfort fic)
the moment you felt the loss of his warmth, you knew that valko had left the comfort of your bed, deep in his own world.
you strain your eyes in the darkness, seeing your once confident and playful wolf appearing almost forlorn as he sits slumped over on the couch. his wine tuft ears were flattened as he kept scrolling through his phone, so caught up in all the hateful words targeted towards him that he didn’t even notice your presence as you slowly got out of bed.
“valko…”
you felt tears wells up in your eyes upon seeing such hateful comments directed solely at him flashing on his screen:
good riddance!
he forces himself on her! and trashes her place!
so sad, had you international hunters been richer you could have saved him!
seeing such hate directed towards the man you adored so much caused a deep ache to form deep within your chest. wishing to erase and ease his pain, you wrap your arms around his broad shoulder, feeling him collapsing against you as he sharply inhaled your scent-
seeking comfort within your warmth.
“i just don’t understand why i’m so hated.”
your heart breaks upon hearing the melancholic defeat in his voice. he shudders once more against you, making you tighten your arms around him in a solid embrace.
“those people never deserved you, val. if they won’t continue to write your story, then i will.”
you give him a tearful smile, leaning closer to press a kiss against his chapped lips. as if feeling the warmth of your adoration seep through him, he kisses you back with a fervor, his tears slowly turning into soft whimpers of your name. you give his bottom lip a playful nip, earning a much needed, yet broken, chuckle from him.
when the need for air proves to be too much, you pull away, resting your forehead against his while confessing to him:
“you don’t need them to know that you are loved unconditionally.”
end notes: i will be the biggest valko truther the world has ever seen. i will never shut up about him. i love you, valko.

husband!satoru when you keep kissing his face when he’s talking
satoru loved hearing himself talk. which was unfortunate for you. because once he started talking, he never seemed to stop.
today’s topic happened to be something about a movie he had watched yesterday. you had stopped paying attention five minutes ago.
“and then the guy looks at him and actually-“
you leaned over and kissed his cheek. satoru paused. “…anyway,” he continued. “then he was like-”
another kiss. this time a little closer to the corner of his mouth. he blinked. “are you listening?”
you nodded. “mhm.”
“good.” he continued. “so then-“
kiss.
his sentence died immediately. you tried not to smile. “what was that for?” he asks, pouty.
you shrugged. “wanted to.”
satoru stared at you for a second before continuing. “right. as i was saying-“
kiss.
“hey.”
kiss.
“seriously.”
kiss.
you could see him fighting back a smile.
“you know,” he says, trying to sound annoyed, “most wives let their husbands finish speaking.”
you hummed. “i’m not most wives.”
he rolled his eyes. “obviously.”
satoru tried one last time. “so the movie ends and-“
you grabbed his face and kissed the tip of his nose. silence. he stared at you. you stared back.
“…forgot what i was talking about.”
you smiled. “finally.”
“don’t sound so happy.”
he wrapped an arm around your waist and pulled you into his lap. “you did that on purpose.”
“did what?”
“made me forget.”
you smiled innocently. “i have no idea what you’re talking about.”
satoru narrowed his eyes. then immediately kissed your cheek.
once. twice. three times.
until you were laughing and trying to push him away. “okay, okay!”
“no,” he said, grinning against your skin. “i wasn’t finished talking.”
“you literally forgot.”
“details.”
he kissed your forehead. then your cheek. then the corner of your mouth.
“will you ever let me talk?” he asks.
you kiss him to shut him up, wrapping your hands around his neck. his arms wrap around your waist, pulling you in closer.
“okay i would actually rather kiss you than talk.” he smiles and pecks your lips.
you grin and smush his cheeks. “cuteness aggression….”

EVERYTHING’S (ALMOST) IN ITS RIGHT PLACE
syn. Hiromi Higuruma realizes only years after the breakup and becoming a lawyer that he’s still missing one thing in life: you. author’s note. slight angst w good ending. sfw. proofread. made for my wife @suganoms / lainey, please support them and their works :)
"Thank you, come back again soon!"
The door closed with a ding! as a tired Hiromi Higuruma dragged his feet along the wet pavement.
Another long day at the office had brought him another long night. Cases piled up faster than fruit flies on rotten fruit. Exhaustion was just another piece of clothing he wore on the daily aside from the suit and tie and black suede shoes.
Brief case in one hand, takeout in the other. The bright lights of the city glimmered more under the layer of rain that the sky brought down in a gentle downpour.
Hiromi heaves a long sigh as he took a look at his watch. 21:13. A couple more minutes until the last bus of the night arrives at his usual stop.
He drags his feet along the floor, staring at his shoes as it picks up rainwater. When did these pointless nights begin? All he does is sit and exist back at his place. The last spontaneous moment he had was back during his undergrad years. When he had someone by his side to enjoy the silence with.
However after many missed dates and growing distance in the relationship, he called it quits after his first year of law school. Instead of fostering relationships, he grew connections. Studied until his brain felt like it was going to rot. Made legal jargon his second language.
Worst mistake of his life.
He looked up just as he recognized the colorful signs in his peripheral. Up ahead, just a couple meters away, was the bench. The bus sign. But a small, hooded figure also stood there. Great, what an awkward—
The hooded head turned a little and he stopped dead in his tracks, dropping his briefcase at his side. Wearing wired earbuds that lead straight to a pocket and a reusable red bag in one hand, was you. The person who made silence comfortable.
"Shitshitshit—" He whispered panickedly as he scrambled to pick up his briefcase. He looked up as his breath quickened, noting how you were distracted reading a sign. It's been years since he's seen you. Sure he checked your socials almost all the time but he's finally seeing you.
'No. I need to get out.' He turned on his heel, his grip on the plastic bag and briefcase turned his knuckles white. 'I can still leave while she still hasn't seen me—'
"Hiromi?"
He froze and felt his breath hitch. He spun around and felt raindrops run down his face. After years apart, he finally saw your beautiful face, etched with surprise at seeing him. You were loosely holding an earbud in one hand, the red bag sitting on the floor beside you.
"Are you taking the bus?" You called out.
"I—" He looked down at his hands and then up at you again.
"Your food is going to be cold and wet if you don't take the bus," you waved him over and he walked back towards you. He felt the need to just pace around, run past you and forget this ever happened. But he felt his urge to be nearer to you much harder to fight.
Just as he reached you, the bus pulled up in front of you both.
"After you," you gestured towards the doors as they opened, and he gave a curt nod and made his way up and sat in the first row. You followed behind him and sat right next to him.
The doors closed and the bus jerked forward into gears.
Despite the rush of blood roaring in his ears, his heart pounding hard against his rib cage, and the slight tremors in his fingers as he hugged his bags, he manages to clear his throat and speak.
"What's in your bag?"
"A knitted blanket," you shrugged as you replied casually. "It's handmade after so many years of working on it. I'm just trying to find its owner."
A grin crept on his face and he looked at you. "Strange of you to be looking for its owner,"
You gave a small smile and nodded towards his take out bag. "Is that still your usual order?"
"Yeah," he carefully pulls out a small sushi container and gestures towards you. "You can have some if you want,"
You take it from him and open it, helping him eat some pieces too.
There it was. The comfortable silence.
The bus slowed to a stop and opened its creaky doors to the cold air. An elderly lady stepped off, and you just leaned in slightly to Hiromi's touch, letting your arm brush more against his. Just as the bus took off, you looked ahead and began conversing with him.
"Was it worth it?"
"What was?" He asked as he tucked the empty box away in the bag again.
"The breakup," you clarified, shifting and clearing your throat a bit. He froze and stared straight down as you continued. "I remember all your big ambitions as you started law school and well… did you get to do everything you wanted?"
When he didn't answer automatically you looked at him and he held his head down, staring at his shoes. His brow furrowed in what made it seem like regret more than deep thought.
"Hiromi?" you asked softly.
"Almost everything," he replied.
The bus creaked to a halt at a stop and you gathered the red bag in your hands as you hummed.
"I hope you get everything soon then," you rose and Hiromi watched you, something close to hope lingered in his eyes.
"Thanks," he gave a small smile. "Nice seeing you again,"
'Please stay.'
You gave a small wave and smiled. "You too. My number hasn't changed, so reach out for anything okay?"
"I will,"
'Follow her. Now.'
He stared at you as you still stood there, mouth not moving, but he looked into your eyes and read the words it couldn't speak. He looked at your knuckles, white as it gripped the handles.
'Why are you nervous?'
"Okay bye," you spun on your heel and quickly made your way off. He stared at the doors as you vanished into the neighborhood. He kept his eyes on your figure as you stood there, rigid and unmoving in the rain.
The bus roared to life and creaked its doors shut.
'Stay on the bus, Hiromi, stay on,'
He shakily exhaled. To his left was your seat, empty and cold, and in its wake left an unpleasant and bitter silence. He stared straight ahead as the bus approached a stop, and his mind reached a conclusion.
Hiromi Higurama had almost everything. But if he gets off now, he'll have it all.
"Goddamn it," he cursed under his breath and stood up to pull the string overhead. The bus screamed as it stopped. He ran past the creaky doors and stepped into the misty air, calling your name.
Turns out that you were still there, and when you turned to face him, your eyes were glossed and shiny with tears. He rushed towards you and stood in front of you.
"I lied," he breathed.
"What?" You smiled despite the sadness that weighed down on your heart. "About what?"
"Having everything," he rubbed his face with both hands and then put his hands on your shoulders, and he gently squeezed them to anchor both himself and his thoughts.
"I don't have your balls of yarn hidden in the corners of my couch. I don't have any text messages from you. I don't have a snore to wake me up at inconvenient hours at night. I don't have everything because you have it."
Your eyes widened and you both stared at each other. A comfortable, stunning silence.
"You are my everything," Hiromi breathed and he cupped your face in his hands gently, letting his thumbs caress your cheeks. "And nothing felt complete anymore without you there to see it,"
You gave a wide smile and laughed, dropped your red bag onto the floor and cupped his face too.
"And you had to do this in the rain?"
He mirrored your teary eyes happiness with a teary smile of his own.
"I didn't trust myself to let you go again,"
You reached down, and pulled a knitted brown blanket out from the bag and pulled you and him under it as the mist began a gentle down pour.
"Then we can talk more at my place, I don't live too far from here," you said as you tugged your side of the blanket down to cover you more. Hiromi put an arm around your waist and tugged his corner on the left to shield himself from the rain.
"I don't want you to deliver this blanket to its owner all soaked though," he huffed as you both quickly made your way down the wet sidewalk.
"It's the one I tried to make you in undergrad, so don't worry, its owner has been found."

HEADCANONS about 𝓗𝓲𝓻𝓸𝓶𝓲 𝓗𝓲𝓰𝓾𝓻𝓾𝓶𝓪 who swore he married you for a case. Just his case. But falls in love with you instead. Not proof–read.
𝓗𝓲𝓻𝓸𝓶𝓲 𝓗𝓲𝓰𝓾𝓻𝓾𝓶𝓪 who told himself that this marriage was nothing. That he agreed with his entire family to marry you just for the sake of the case.
𝓗𝓲𝓻𝓸𝓶𝓲 𝓗𝓲𝓰𝓾𝓻𝓾𝓶𝓪 who promised himself that he'll free you from this bond—this arranged marriage, as soon as he dug out enough information about your family. Enough information to free his client of the charges.
𝓗𝓲𝓻𝓸𝓶𝓲 𝓗𝓲𝓰𝓾𝓻𝓾𝓶𝓪 who feels a strange feeling in his chest seeing you commit to the bond. Trying to talk to him about how his day went, making him bentos so he stops eating food from outside, helping him take off his suit, carefully placing the sunflower badge on the dressing table, inside a pretty pink box you made. Specially for the badge. Cradling it like it's something precious.
Like he's something precious.
𝓗𝓲𝓻𝓸𝓶𝓲 𝓗𝓲𝓰𝓾𝓻𝓾𝓶𝓪 who can't bring himself to look away, at how soft you look, your hair in soft curls, as you go about your day, frowning at recipes and trying each one to make something new. Just for him. Loving him in your quiet ways.
𝓗𝓲𝓻𝓸𝓶𝓲 𝓗𝓲𝓰𝓾𝓻𝓾𝓶𝓪 who comes home one day, beyond stressed. Because he hasn't made much progress. Because all he can think about is you.
you, you, you, sweet little you.
Waiting for him by the doorway as soon as he returns, prancing around the kitchen fussing over new dishes, helping him take off his suit and tie, ask him how his day has went.
You'll really drive him insane.
𝓗𝓲𝓻𝓸𝓶𝓲 𝓗𝓲𝓰𝓾𝓻𝓾𝓶𝓪 who walks through the doorway and sees you rushing down the stairs in your soft white tank top and cream white shorts, flashing his eyes with a sweet smile. Engulfing his senses with that addictive scent of yours, your strawberry shampoo? He doesn't care. His gaze is fixed on you. As he feels your small hands smoothly glide down his suit, before folding it neatly against your arm while your fingers gently start unwinding his tie.
Your lips form a concentrated pout as you keep gently fiddling with it. And he does something reckless. He knows. He isn't like that. He is a man of autonomy, who functions upon discipline and control. But fuck—it was so hard when you were around. Poor, sweet you. His hand gently rests on your waist making your breath catch, hands stuttering in his tie as you blink up at him with those pretty doe eyes.
𝓗𝓲𝓻𝓸𝓶𝓲 𝓗𝓲𝓰𝓾𝓻𝓾𝓶𝓪 who chucks the sole idea of his actual motive behind, his hand sliding up from your waist, tangling in your hairs as his lips crash against you. Feverish, addictive.
A soft whimper leaves your lips, muffled by him as his lips slant against yours. Swiping his tongue, asking—begging for permission to enter. To devour you. Because he can't...he physically can't resist you. The soft sounds which leave your lips as you melt against his chest, clinging— and his arms gather you lovingly. Affectionately. After all, you're only his to cradle anyways. "R-Rough day?" You make out between the kisses and he only responses with a gruff hum. Because his focus is only on one goal. You. His wife.
𝓗𝓲𝓻𝓸𝓶𝓲 𝓗𝓲𝓰𝓾𝓻𝓾𝓶𝓪 who swears his breath stopped, who feels his pants tighten very unprofessionally as you moan his name oh so softly. His lips trail down your jaw, soft squelches reach your own ears along with your own huffs and puffs while he kisses your collarbones, his rough fingers gently tugging down your shirt to a side as he marks you up. His gruff voice whispering sweet nothings in your chest which only make you more pliant in his arms.
𝓗𝓲𝓻𝓸𝓶𝓲 𝓗𝓲𝓰𝓾𝓻𝓾𝓶𝓪 who is panting against your neck in ragged breaths, while your head is thrown back against the pillows sobbing his name as his hips moved with intent against yours. Your legs hung over his shoulders...as his lips disconnect for a fleeting moment only to trace kisses down the soft calf of your leg. Your hands sliding down the hard planes of his chest, clinging onto his shoulders for your dear life as he pounds your pussy till she's spurting bubbles in despair around his mean girth.
𝓗𝓲𝓻𝓸𝓶𝓲 𝓗𝓲𝓰𝓾𝓻𝓾𝓶𝓪 who only chuckles seeing you struggle, pressing a comforting kiss on your cheek. "Come on, sweetheart. Breathe for me...Take me...t-take me..hah.." he says, voice strained. "I'm yours...I'm only yours to take." He murmers gruffly against the shell of your ear making you flutter around his length making you unwind so easily. As your sweetness dribbles down his cock. Soft pants leave you...eyes barely open, as he smiles down at you. Pressing an affectionate kiss on your temple. "Hold on, love. I'm not done...I'm still not done with you..." He says, as he helps your legs down from his shoulders to his waist, slowly rocking against you making you whimper. "Sh..sh...let me do this, angel. You've always—hah been effortlessly g-good at this. Hmm? Being my perfect little wife. Let..m-me make it up to you, yeah?" His words make you stop breathing. Make you stop thinking.
𝓗𝓲𝓻𝓸𝓶𝓲 𝓗𝓲𝓰𝓾𝓻𝓾𝓶𝓪 who wakes up next morning with you nestled into his chest. Your face relaxed.. blissed. The expression makes an unconscious smile flow in his lips. He gently nudges your cheek with his nose...making you scrunch your face up before your doe eyes sleepily blink up at him. "r-romi?" You garble. He presses a loving kiss on your nose murmuring "morning, angel. Did you sleep well?" A soft nod from you accompanied by a yawn absolutely melts him. "did you?" You ask snuggling closer to him. He nods, pressing a kiss on your forehead.
𝓗𝓲𝓻𝓸𝓶𝓲 𝓗𝓲𝓰𝓾𝓻𝓾𝓶𝓪 who brings you flowers every Tuesday then on. Different sorts of flowers which get adorned on the vase sitting by the living room table. And dried out flowers get collected by you (secretly) because you paste them on a diary you made recently. Just to preserve these moments. Forever.
𝓗𝓲𝓻𝓸𝓶𝓲 𝓗𝓲𝓰𝓾𝓻𝓾𝓶𝓪 who feels somehow lighter now. His work feels less pressuring when he knows after it, he'll get to see you. To make him feel all better.
𝓗𝓲𝓻𝓸𝓶𝓲 𝓗𝓲𝓰𝓾𝓻𝓾𝓶𝓪 who talks about you every chance he gets to his colleagues. Praising you like you deserve. Telling everyone how sweet you are to him.
𝓗𝓲𝓻𝓸𝓶𝓲 𝓗𝓲𝓰𝓾𝓻𝓾𝓶𝓪 who wins the case he was fighting for. Securing his client. Once again. He accepts the appreciation from his client. Shaking his head, smiling.
𝓗𝓲𝓻𝓸𝓶𝓲 𝓗𝓲𝓰𝓾𝓻𝓾𝓶𝓪 who was asked by a judge if he wanted to become one instead but he refused—because he knew what that seat meant. It meant becoming part of a system that reduced people to files and verdicts. He hated the arrogance of deciding a person’s worth from above.
Because someone had to stand beside the accused. Because even those society had already condemned deserved someone who would still say, “I will hear you.”
He did not want power over people.
He wanted to fight for them.
He wanted to remain the hand reaching down, not the one passing judgment.
He wanted to keep his eyes open. Even if...he was the only one who would.
𝓗𝓲𝓻𝓸𝓶𝓲 𝓗𝓲𝓰𝓾𝓻𝓾𝓶𝓪 who comes home that day with a bouquet of daises. It was Tuesday. Your day. A soft smile on his lips. As he calls out, "I'm home!"
But no one greets him. The house is unusually quiet. Which brings a frown on his brows as he loosens his tie, walking further inside to see you sitting silently on the couch.
Eyes focused on the ground ahead, staring into a void. "Love?" He says softly trying to walk towards you. His sweet wife. To know what or specifically who had troubled you.
𝓗𝓲𝓻𝓸𝓶𝓲 𝓗𝓲𝓰𝓾𝓻𝓾𝓶𝓪 who stops, hand hovering over your shoulder, eyes stuck on the phone in your lap. His face...his words.
The words he never ever wanted you to hear.
The words he didn't even knew were recorded.
𝓗𝓲𝓻𝓸𝓶𝓲 𝓗𝓲𝓰𝓾𝓻𝓾𝓶𝓪 who never noticed when pretending stopped being pretending. Who began memorizing the way you smiled. Who started coming home earlier. Who started thinking of home as wherever you were. Somewhere along the way, evidence became love. And he was foolish enough to believe love could erase the sin of how it began.
𝓗𝓲𝓻𝓸𝓶𝓲 𝓗𝓲𝓰𝓾𝓻𝓾𝓶𝓪 who once refused to become a judge—only to realize he became something worse. Because he had judged you from the very beginning. He decided what truth you could bear. He decided what lies were acceptable. He decided your role in his pursuit of justice.
Without asking.
Without consent.
Without mercy.
𝓗𝓲𝓻𝓸𝓶𝓲 𝓗𝓲𝓰𝓾𝓻𝓾𝓶𝓪 who feels sick—not because he got caught, but because he sees what he has done. Not as facts or evidence. But as damage.
Raw, living damage.
On your face, in your shaking hands.
In the way you look at him like you no longer know who is standing in front of you. And that?
that hurts more than any accusation ever could.
Because you look afraid to trust your own memories.
𝓗𝓲𝓻𝓸𝓶𝓲 𝓗𝓲𝓰𝓾𝓻𝓾𝓶𝓪 who once said everyone deserves someone who will stand by them.
And now he understands the cruelty.
Because when it mattered most...
he wasn’t that person for you.
𝓗𝓲𝓻𝓸𝓶𝓲 𝓗𝓲𝓰𝓾𝓻𝓾𝓶𝓪 who hears you say, “i'd forgiven anything expect this...except this!”
And breaks.
Because that tone contains something unbearable.
Not why. Not how could you. But, was any of it real?
Every word feels like an arrow in his chest. But he knows...he knows he deserves it. He deserves your words. You come closer, eyes filled with pain, with utter betrayal which stabs his chest. "I loved you so much that even now—even now—all I want is for you to tell me this isn't real—" your hands grab the front of his suit. "And i hate myself for that!"
𝓗𝓲𝓻𝓸𝓶𝓲 𝓗𝓲𝓰𝓾𝓻𝓾𝓶𝓪 who swallows every word you threw at him. Let's you scream at him.
"I was begging for your love and you let me humiliate myself! I defended you, i worshipped you like an idiot. I built my entire life around you!" The tears streaming down your face however does hurt him. More than whatever you called him. Because he knows he deserves whatever you scream at him. But you don't deserve to cry for a person like him. "Do you know how disgusting this feels? I let you hold me, shared a bed with you, let you kiss me as if you're mine—"
"but I am yours, love. I promise im–" he says. Voice strained.
"No! You made me feel crazy for loving you! You should've never made me love you if you're going to do this!—" you sob as his hands immediately cup your cheeks. "Love, no—"
"was i convenient?" The words clog your throat, choking your voice. "Was i easy to manipulate? That's what I was to you?! I gave you everything! Everything! What else did you want from me?!"
"nothing, sweetheart. Nothing." He cradles you, bringing you closer, as you try to twist away from him. His voice is barely above a whisper, an arm around your waist. "Then what, Hiromi?!" You sound livid. "How sick can you be?! How sick can you be to let someone love you and lie to their face like that!"
"Angel—" now he looks desperate. But your words keep flowing out. "Was any of it real?! The wedding? The promises?! Was none of it real?! You used me! You used me and crawled into my bed like nothing happened–"
"love, no. Stop, i hadn't—"
"were you laughing at me? When I called you my husband, when I said I loved you, did you laugh at me?!—"
𝓗𝓲𝓻𝓸𝓶𝓲 𝓗𝓲𝓰𝓾𝓻𝓾𝓶𝓪 who couldn't take it anymore and kissed you. Kissed you till all your protests die down—till you melt. Once again. To make you listen to him. He knows he's selfish. He knows he's wrong. But he isn't a good man.
He never was.
But he loved you.
He loves you. God, he loves you so much, his chest feels like cracking open, his hand which were holding your face, wiped your tears away.
He disconnects slowly, his forehead against yours, his gaze fixed on you. "At first... it was for the case. I told myself it was necessary. That the case mattered. That if I crossed one moral line just once, I could still live with myself afterward.” he paused, "But somewhere along the way, it stopped being that." He swallows the lump in his throat. "If you hate me, I understand. If you want me gone, I’ll leave." He paused. Longer. Then, quieter, "if hating me, makes you hurt less then hate me." He leans closer, eyes softening further, "But don’t ever think none of it was real to me." His voice drops to almost nothing. "Because loving you...was the only truthful thing I did in this entire mess."
He brushes a thumb against your cheek, "Hate me a thousand times, love. But I'll apologise a thousand times more and till i make it up you. Till i make you believe that... I love you."
𝓗𝓲𝓻𝓸𝓶𝓲 𝓗𝓲𝓰𝓾𝓻𝓾𝓶𝓪 who's eyes widen a fraction when your lips connect with his harshly. Desperately, as you poured every ounce of your pain, anger, betrayal—everything into the kiss.
And he lets you.
Because 𝓗𝓲𝓻𝓸𝓶𝓲 𝓗𝓲𝓰𝓾𝓻𝓾𝓶𝓪 was only yours to take anyways.
And he'll keep apologising, he'll keep begging till he earns you back .
Till he can call you his wife once again.
His sweet little wife.
OMG! This has everything you could ever need in a fic. THE YEARNING. FLUFF. ANGST.
Apple picking with baby!Megumi and husband!Toji
It is late July, orchards have opened up to the public for early apple picking season, and you are now staring at your two boys trying to find the most perfect apple for you.
“This apple, daddy,” Megumi says, pointing to a dark, shiny red apple high up in the trees.
“That’s the one,” Toji asks, following the line of sight from his little baby finger.
Toji lifts him into the air, letting him reach out and grab the apple himself before dropping him back down to sit on his arm. Standing a few feet away, you watch as your husband fixes your baby’s collared shirt before smoothing down his wild hair while picking out tiny white flowers. Somehow, you managed to convince your husband to wear matching outfits, and it truly makes your heart flutter from the sight.
He looks up to find you, tilting his head as he sees the faintest glisten of a tear sliding down your cheek. A knowing smile plays on his lips, a look passes between the two of you, one filled with love and passion. Megumi inspects his choice, oblivious to everything else, and all you can do is try not to burst out into tears from the happiness your family gives you.
It really is the simple things for you.
Never mind me, I have combusted
༺♡༻ thinking ab nanami’s kisses…
your husband’s appearance is very contradicting.
he's huge; broad shoulders, husky build, and standing at a towering 6'0.
and yet, he's so, so gentle.
more specifically, his kisses.
because he doesn't squeeze you or bite your lips like he's trying to devour your face.
no, nanami kisses you sweetly. like you're as delicate as spun glass.
you needed his kisses. craved them, even.
you didn't even care that he was a workaholic. didn't get upset when he had to leave you early in the mornings or when he returned so late at night that you were already damn near asleep. it didn't bother you, as long as he followed your one rule:
give you a kiss before he leaves and when he got back.
sure, it sounded a bit silly. some of your friends even called you addicted when you told them about it. but you didn't care. it was routine, and you planned on it staying that way.
so when morning came again and the first rays of light peeking through your bedroom window got paired with the familiar rustling of kento trying to get dressed without causing a disturbance, you don't get mad.
you just roll over and lay there, patient. waiting. you sit up groggily, a lazy hand rubbing the sleep from your eyes.
meanwhile nanami is busy tying his tie, back turned to you just enough to show off the carefully sculpted muscles of his back without even trying. your gaze wandered over him appreciatively.
it didn't take long for him to realize you'd woken up. it was hard not to notice with you literally staring holes into the back of his head. he glances over his shoulder, expression softening instantly at the sight of your sleepy face.
"oh, hello..." he murmurs, as if anything louder would break the peace that settled at this early hour. he finishes the final knot before taking a seat beside you. you curl into his side instantly, and he hums approvingly.
his hand finds your waist, thumb brushing soothing circles as he says quietly, "i didn't mean to wake you, love."
but you just shake your head, completely content. you nuzzle into his chest, mumbling into him. "mm...'s okay."
you're quiet for a bit, fingers playing with the soft fabric of his shirt. not nervous, just lazy fidgting. then, you blink up at him expectantly, asking the all-too-familiar question. "...kiss?"
a tiny smile tugs at his lips. he'd heard the question a thousand times already, and he was waiting for it. he nodded without thinking, mumbling a soft "of course." before leaning in.
his free hand finds your chin, gently tilting your head up to his. the distance closes, lips pressing to his.
you can faintly taste the coffee on his lips, dark, bitter and honestly not as horrible as expected. and just when you start to relax into him, a bird chirps loudly outside the window.
you jump back, startled. his head tilts at you, but when he sees your wide eyes he can't help the soft laugh that leaves his lips.
"it's just a bird, sweetheart." he teases, gently ruffling your messy bedhead hair before standing up to slip on his shoes.
your lips twist into a pout. "whatever." you grumble, pretending not to be as embarrassed as you were.
but you didn't let him get his foot near the second shoe before you were climbing out of bed, arms wrapping around his neck. "i need another, ken...that one didn't count." you murmur, voice soft and thick with sleep.
his brows furrow, conflicted. "why, not? was that one not enough?" he asks, though he doesn't sound upset. just genuinely curious.
you shake your head. "we got interrupted, so it didn't count." you mumble.
nanami glances between you and the clock on his watch, hesitant. he knows he should get going. but you're hard to deny like this. you’re half asleep, drool dried on your cheek, and in nothing but his shirt and some shorts. you look absolutely adorable.
he sighs.
"fine." he caves, unable to fight the urge. his large hands find your waist, pulling you in closer. "but this is the last one, okay? no more." he explains.
you nod, feeling like you'd won the lottery.
he smiles at your eagerness, and finally leans to capture you in another kiss.
your lips slot against his, weaving together like they're meant to be there. a soft press first, then your lips start to move.
you know he has to leave soon, but you can't bring yourself to care. he feels so good, and you just feel all warm and fuzzy inside. and when one of his hands slide into your hair to tilt your head and deepen the kiss, you melt. your eyes flutter shut, knees going weak.
he hums against your lips, his own gaze growing half-lidded. he granted you access when your tongue slipped in his mouth, dancing with yours in a slow, passionate dance.
when you moan into his mouth and he feels his dress pants start to tighten a bit, he knows he should stop. reluctantly, he speaks.
"sweetheart..." he calls softly, but doesn't pull away yet.
"mm...?" you hum, clearly not done yet.
he's not either. but, he knows this is wrong. "i really need to leave now. i'll be late." he manages to murmur. but every word is muffled between another tender yet messy kiss.
but you just grumble against his lips, pulling him closer as you mumble under your breath. "mm...d'nt care."
it’s safe to say that nanami was definitely late for work that day.
a/n: okay this is really short but i wanted to write for him cause he’s just so like ughhhh (also more fluff cause ive just been spamming smut back to back)

ONE TWO THREE FOUR FIVE SIX SEVEN EIGHT
Honestly one of the best arranged marriage pieces I have read in a while, and as far as I know it’s ongoing. I genuinely recommend this piece, it has all of the angst you’ll ever need with a really accurate depiction of what depression and isolation looks like. I love how this author has portrayed this theme through both Hiromi and his wife.
I can’t wait to finish this and see their relationship develop!
Also the hand flex in chapter six >>>>>>
quite literally
I remember not making an account for the longest time and just typing “[character] x reader” and then clicking on that tumblr web link. It was all fun and games until they capped how long you could spend on the web link until you had to sign in 🙃
me after the author mischaracterizes me in a xreader fic
no hate tho

ᴛᴏᴊɪ ꜰᴜꜱʜɪɢᴜʀᴏ : ʜᴀᴜɴᴛᴇᴅ ʙʏ ᴛʜᴇ ɢʜᴏꜱᴛ ᴏꜰ ʜᴇʀꜱ.
You're in love with Toji. So in love that you put that serious age gap aside, turned a blind eye to his financial instability and embraced all the risks he brought with him.
You ignored all your friends' advice, their attempts to find someone better for you, someone your age who would be on the same page as you.
But what did you do? You fell first and fell harder.
And that was your biggest mistake; to love a man more than he loves you.
Now, tension has been sitting there for weeks.
You felt it, the distance, the nights he disappears, the cold mornings, the way he doesn't really hold you after sex saying he's got an urgent work to do.
It felt like he knows how to want you, but not how to love you.
You knew about his past, about his dead wife.
And you knew that healing takes time just like love. So you gave him plenty of it.
But it still hurts.
And by the way he murmurs her name in his sleep, you came to the conclusion that Toji still hasn't moved on from her.
"You're leaving again?" you asked as you watched him grab his jacket, in the middle of the night.
"Got work" he muttered.
"You said that last night too!"
"Yeah, and ?" He said without even glancing at you.
That attitude, that cold, detached tone was your last straw.
"Do you even want me to be here? Because it seems like you can't even bear looking at me".
That made him pause, slowly he glanced at you, "What's that supposed to mean?"
Your chest tightened, "It means I'm tired of feeling like I don't matter to you"
Toji scoffed, like you were being dramatic, "You just enjoying starting arguments, don't you?"
"I'm not trying to start anything, Toji"
He exhaled, "Then what do you want, hm?"
"To communicate. To talk." you answered
He leaned against the wall, crossing his arms, "Talk about what?"
"About you. About her" you blurted out and he froze.
"You said her name in your sleep.. you always do" you added quietly.
Toji didn't move an inch, "So?"
That "so" felt like a punch to the guts.
"So?" you repeated, "You were always calling out for her when I was there right beside you" .
"You're just making a big deal outta nothing" he replied.
"You really think it's outta nothing?..I feel like I'm in a fucking competing with someone who isn't even al–" your voice rose slightly but you stopped yourself, shutting your eyes.
His eyes darkened, "Finish the sentence"
But you didn't.
You let out a shaky sigh and said, "I get it, took me long enough but now I do".
"You get what?" he asked in confusion.
You looked straight at him, "I'm just filling in for her. I'm filling that space, that emptiness until you decide I'm no longer needed for your lonely ass" you spat through gritted teeth.
For a second, something flickered in his expression, guilt mixed with irritation and frustration.
He still hasn't moved, still crossing his arms, "If you feel that way, then that's a YOU problem"
Your breath hitched, "A ME problem?"
"Yeah" he shrugged, "I didn't ask you to think like that. And if it's affecting you that much then—"
"—Then leave?" you finished for him.
"Don't put words in my mouth Yn" his jaw tightened.
"Yeah, but you sure as hell give me every reason to" you spat.
"You're being dramatic right now and I don't have time for this" he rolled his eyes.
You just stared at him, heart breaking, lump forming in your throat.
You wanted to punch the shit out of him, to let all of your anger on him.
And in that moment, you regretted loving him, sacrificing so much, ignoring your friends' advice just to be with a man who can't handle his own feelings, his own life.
If you can just undo it all.
If you can just turn back time and go back to the night you met at that bar, where he was drinking his pain away, then you'd just walk past him and never go home with him.
You looked down, "The heart can't love two souls at the same time, Toji" you said softly, voice cracking, "So I'm just someone you sleep with?"
His tongue clicked, he was so frustrated and overwhelmed.
He's always been avoiding this confrontation.
"I never asked you to be my girlfriend— you're the one who decided to stick around after that night.."
You went completely still, and so did he.
He never expected himself to say something this harsh to you.
He knew he crossed the line, even if he didn't want to, even if he didn't mean those words.
But the look on your face now hurt him, because he knew what it meant.
He changed his posture, no longer learning against the wall, no longer crossing his arms as if his body screamed at him to reach out to you, but he didn't.
You were just smiling.
"Right" you laughed softly, "I decided to stay. My bad"
You took a step back and his heart dropped.
" Y-you're just overthinking it again" he said trying fix thing but only making it worse.
"No.. no. It's fine" you smiled, and it killed him, "I'm finally thinking straight"
A sharp jolt coursed through him, he knew behind that smile is a serious decision.
"What are you talk–" but you cut him off.
"We're done, Toji.. Oh wait we weren't even anything in the first place, just fuck buddies" you let out a dry chuckle.
Your words landed heavy and thick, striking him directly.
His eyes widened, just staring at you as you walked away.
"Good luck— with your miserable life" you added and it hit him hard.
Toji stood there frozen, thoughts rushing in his head, drowning in the consequences of his own neglect and carelessness.
"I'm not done speaking with you" he called after you, but you ignored him.
And here he feels it again; the emptiness. Just like before you cane to his life.
The feeling of losing someone all over again.
ᴍᴇɢᴜᴍɪ ꜰᴜꜱʜɪɢᴜʀᴏ : ᴋᴇᴇᴘɪɴɢ ꜱʜᴀᴅᴏᴡꜱ ꜰʀᴏᴍ ʏᴏᴜ.
It's been hours since Megumi had left the house.
Your phone screen lit up over and over again with your own attempts to reach him.
But only for you to be met with missed calls and unanswered texts.
Each one made your heart tighten a little more.
You know Megumi, this isn't random.
Something is wrong, something upset him enough to leave without a word.
He's always been like that, whenever he has a problem he disappears to cool off, to deal with his own shit without including you.
And that's what hurts you the most, because he didn't come to you.
You've been friends for so long, and now been dating a few months, so he had plenty of time to try and trust you with his problems.
You sat there waiting. At first patient, the restless, then full on anxious.
Every small noise outside made your head snap up.
You replayed everything from earlier in your head over and over again.
The way he avoided your eyes, his cold expression, his tone when he said "I'm fine" .
You knew he was a tough cookie but you're his girlfriend, the one special person in his life, the one to be with in both good and bad.
But Megumi didn't give you the chance to.
He was just closed off as ever.
Carrying everything alone as if you were never there for him.
Bottling up his emotions until it poisons him from the inside and ends up poisoning your relationship too.
And no matter how many times you've told him "You can talk to me" , he never really does.
The door finally opened and Megumi walked inside.
You were overwhelmed with relief when he first stepped in, but then, it was quickly replaced by frustration and hurt after hours being sidelined.
"Where were you?" you asked, voice tight, crossing your arms.
Megumi paused for a second as he took off his jacket, "Out" .
That's it, that's all you got.
Something in you snapped, "Right. Out... And ignoring me is part of being out, huh?".
He just stared at you with a blank expression and it drove you crazy.
"Megumi I'd been calling you for hours, you have no idea how worried I was".
He shrugged it off like it's nothing, "My phone was on silent" .
What a stupid excuse.
You scoffed, "Oh so basically if I didn't check up on you then I'll just sit here ignored for hours?"
He exhaled clearly not in the mood for an argument, "I didn't think it was a big deal"
And that does it, because it was a hell of a big deal.
"Of course you don't" your words slipped out quieter but sharper.
He frowned slightly, "What's that supposed to mean?"
"It's means you're clearly having a problem, but chose to disappear for hours, shut me out, and then come back, stand here and act like I'm overreacting"
His expression hardened as he spoke in a defensive tone, "I'm not shutting you out"
"Then what are you doing? What do you call this?" you spat, "Because honestly, it doesn't feel like you trust me at all"
The word Trust, it hit a nerve.
"I do trust you" he said firmly, "I just don't need to talk about everything"
You stared at him, you could feel your hands shake, "Oh but I need to?"
The room went quiet as he waited for you to finish your sentence.
"When I'm upset" you continued, "You ask me to open up. You expect me to be vulnerable. You tell me that it's a safe space to vent, to share"
He didn't interrupt, he just listened.
"So why is it different for you? Why is it a safe space for me but not for you, Megumi?"
His jaw tightened, his eyes narrowed, he really wanted to stop this conversation before it escalates.
"Because I don't want to drag you into my problems"
"I'm already in them, Megumi" you cut in, "The moment you walk out that door whenever you're upset and make me wait for hours without a single explanation, I was already in them"
You can see it in the way his gaze shifted, the faint crack in his composure, yet he didn't admit it, didn't step forward.
"So tell me, what's wrong?" you asked anyway.
He hesitated, his chest tightened at the way you stood there in front of him fidgeting with tour fingers waiting for him to open up.
But he couldn't, "I said— I'm fine" he insisted, just like always.
Megumi never says what he really feels and it frustrated you, to keep on guessing and analyzing everything on your own. Solving him like a riddle.
"NO YOU'RE NOT" you snapped, but he didn't flinch.
"Yn I don't have to report everything to you"
His words hit like a slap.
Because you tell him everything. So that feeling of the trust being one-sided hurts you.
"I never said you have to" you whispered, swallowing back the lump forming in your throat.
"Then stop acting like I did something wrong"
"You did. And the problem is that you don't bother noticing" you replied.
He exhaled sharply, "I don't see why you had to turn this into a fight"
You let out a humourless laugh, "So it's my fault now? Me voicing my feelings on how my boyfriend isn't give me the chance to be there for him when he's upset is what started this fight and not you and your audacity to push me away?"
His patience snapped and he raised his voice, "Not everything is about you. You don't have to be included in every aspect of my life"
The second the words left his mouth, he regretted them.
But it was too late, the damage was already done.
You froze, because that was never your intention.
All what you wanted to do is to be there for him, to comfort him.
But vulnerability doesn't come easy to Megumi.
Your face immediately changed, "..Wow"
That's all what you said just 'wow' , no anger, no yelling, just disappointment.
And somehow it was worse. Way worse.
Megumi finally took a step forward, "That's not what I meant–"
"No" you shook your head, "I think it is"
He reached for you, then he let his hand fall and of course you noticed.
"You know what" you said but quickly stopped yourself, you let out a sigh instead, "forget it.."
You were so hurt and so done with him and his coldness.
"Wait.. Yn" he said quickly, frustration mixing with panic.
"I'm done talking Megumi. I'm so fucking done with you" you replied not looking at him as you walked back to your room.
"You don't mean that" he said but you didn't answer, you just kept walking.
Megumi stood there, fists clenched, emotions tangled in ways be doesn't know how to express.
Now he desperately wanted to finish this argument.
Because fighting seemed less terrifying than you giving him the silent treatment.
But pride and fear wrapped around his throat and kept him silent.
Yet this time your silence matched his.
And now the house felt too cold, too empty.
And for the first time Megumi realized how being shut off truly feels.
ʜɪɢᴜʀᴜᴍᴀ ʜɪʀᴏᴍɪ : ᴛʜᴇ ɪɴ-ᴏꜰꜰɪᴄᴇ ᴛʀɪᴀʟ
You weren't planning to start an argument that evening, you simply passed by his office after work so you can go home together.
You didn't knock, you knew he had no meeting at that time so you just opened the door and got inside.
And again, she was there, his assistant.
She wasn't at her desk doing whatever tasks she has.
She was standing a little too close to him, showing him a file.
You could feel anger already building, but you didn't react just yet.
You cleared your throat and both of them looked up at you, finally noticing you standing there.
"Oh" she started, "I didn't realize you had company".
The way she said it, it made your blood boil, referring to you like you were nobody and not his wife.
"I came to pick you up– Hiromi" you said, voice steady.
Your husband nodded slightly, "Yes, I'll be done shortly"
You sat down watching.
Yet she didn't leave, she simply had no shame.
You've been noticing this for a while now, whenever you passed by his office, whenever the two of you talked on the phone, she was always there, trying to push your buttons, to cross the boundaries, to steal Hiromi from you.
The way she laughs at things that weren't even funny.
The way her hand brushes his arms like it's accidental.
The way she shamelessly stares at him even if you were there
And the worst part?
Hiruguma is being oblivious.
You didn't bring it up before because for both of you trust is everything.
But you trust him, not her.
So every time you wait for him to notice that's she's clearly flirting with him, to notice that it's bothering you.
And as your husband, he must do or say something about it.
But he didn't.
And this time you stated to doubt it. If he's genuinely oblivious or he knows but secretly enjoying it.
"You're overworking again, Higuruma-san" she said with a whiny voice.
He didn't respond right away, he just kept checking the document in his hand, "Tomorrow arrange another meeting please" he said.
"Oh absolutely" she smiled, "Let me help you" she added as she reached for his coat draped over the chair.
Your heart jumped to your throat. You can feel your stomach twisting.
You didn't say anything, you just observed his reaction, but he didn't seem to care, he just took his coat and adjusted his sleeves.
"Good night, Higuruma-san" she smiled, completely ignoring your presence, then she left.
The moment the door clicked shut behind her, you let out a breath you didn't know you were holding the whole time watching them like some boss/assistance romance movie.
He gathered his things and said, "Let's go"
But you didn't move an inch, it was the best time to finally stop holding it, put all that trust aside and let your feelings out.
"Can we talk about your assistant?" you started.
"What about her?" he asked confused.
"She's being inappropriate"
He frowned slightly, "In what sense?"
His question itself irritated you.
"She's flirting with you, she's crossing limits" you said through gritted teeth.
He exhaled softly, "I think you're misinterpreting her behavior"
"What? I'm not misinterpreting anything, Hiromi" you answered, tone sharper than before.
He sat down now, giving you his full attention, "Okay. Then provide an example"
You stared at him in disbelief, "...Are you serious right now?"
And he nodded calmly, "Yeah, if you're making a claim then it should be supported"
You felt like air got knocked out of your lungs, because it didn't feel like a conversation anymore. It felt like a cross-examination.
"I'm not in court, Hiromi" you laughed under your breath.
"Still you're making an accusation" he shrugged.
Your frustration spiked, "Oh my god, quit using that courtroom tone with me, I'm your wife. Besides this isn't about evidence, it's about how I feel!!"
"Feelings can be misleading Yn"
And that, hurt more than it should.
"So now my feelings aren't valid?" you asked.
"I didn't say that so don't twist my words"
"But you implied it, Hiromi".
"I simply questioned your interpretation"
The way he was so calm about the whole situation made it worse for you.
"You're doing it again" you shook your head in disbelief.
"Doing what, hm?"
"Turning everything into a case to win instead of just listening to me!"
"I am listening—" he replied, "I just don't agree with your conclusion".
You laughed, "Of course you don't. So I just woke up today and decided to imagine things huh?"
Silence hung heavily between you as you paced in his office.
"Do you even care that this bothers me?"
"I care" he stated.
"Then why on earth does it feel like you're defending her instead of setting boundaries?"
His expression tightened as he ran a hand on his face, "I'm not defending her. I'm simply correcting what I believe is a flawed assumption"
"Flawed?" you repeated.
"Yes"
Your muscles twitched, "Are you really that dense, or you're just simply playing dumb because you enjoy the way she's pampering you huh?"
He froze, "That's a serious accusation Yn"
"Accusation my ass, Hiromi. She's clearly into you, it's been weeks, and she's always flirting, staring at you like you're the only man on earth"
"You know she's only my assistant, right? Besides she's competent and that's the only thing I care about"
"So you don't care about my discomfort?"
"That's not what I said"
"But that's exactly what it meant" your voice rose now, "I was standing here like an idiot and you just didn't stop her"
His tone sharpened slightly, "Because there was nothing to stop"
"THERE WAS FOR ME" you shouted.
Silence took over the office after you yelled at him.
"You could've said something, did something. But you just don't care enough to set some simple boundaries" you added.
His expression tightened, "That's an unfair conclusion"
"Is it?" you pressed, "Because from where I'm standing it's either you're a careless husband or enjoy being desired" .
He stood up in defense as he walked towards you, his body towering over you, "Do you hear yourself right now?"
"Yes. Loud and clear" you replied not breaking eye contact with him.
"Then we will talk about this again when we get home"
"No" you refused casually.
"No?" he frowned.
"I'm not doing this with you anymore.. I'm not going to repeat myself and try to prove my point —" you said, "And honestly the fact that you you're literally debating me in this instead of being considerate, tells me everything I needed to know" you added and walked towards the door.
He paused, "Wait what?" he grabbed your wrist.
"It's been weeks with this situation, swallowing it back, telling myself that trust is everything.. but things gor out of hands" you explained coldly as your yanked your wrist from his grip, "If this is how it is, then I don't think we're right for each other anymore"
His heart sank deep in his chest, and for the first time Hiromi Higuruma stutters, "Y–you want ...a d-divorce?"
ɴᴀɴᴀᴍɪ ᴋᴇɴᴛᴏ : ᴏᴠᴇʀᴛɪᴍᴇ, ᴏᴠᴇʀ ᴜꜱ
You sat at the dining table, staring at the dinner you had prepared with love and care.
The candles had burned low, the food had grown cold.
You didn't feel sad, you just felt painfully, embarrassingly small in your own skin.
Kento promised to get home early, but like everytime, work kept dragging him into overtime.
Being a jujutsu sorcerer is a heavy responsibility that he values, and you know that, but being committed to a marriage is just as important.
You grabbed your phone, thinking about calling him but you stopped yourself.
Instead, you scoffed and threw your phone somewhere on the couch.
You were fed up, sick of always being the one waiting, always the one making time, always the one in need of him.
So you started eating, everything on that table.
You ate your plate, his plate. Devouring every bite angrily.
You didn't care you were full and almost sick, so you finished off the dessert as well.
After finishing, you slammed the empty plates in the floor, toppling the flower vase as well.
"Ain't washing no stupid dishes"
You were too full of food to do anything else, so you went to your room, still wearing the dress he likes so much and threw yourself on the bed, crying your eyes out to sleep.
Nanami finally came home, exhausted.
His heartbeat quickened when he saw the broken plates, the ruined flowers and the burned candles.
Seeing that mess, he thought someone broke into the house.
He strode through the house to find you, and relief washed over him when he saw you on the bed asleep, safe and sound.
But that relief vanished instantly when he realized that the broken plates and tossed flowers were because you were angry at him for being late again.
But this time, he knew your reaction wasn't like before when he overworked .. this time you were furious with him.
You were curled up, hair tangled still in your dress.
Seeing you like this pierced him, he hates that you went to bed upset.
That he didn't come home early enough to apologize and to comfort you.
He stood there for a moment, unsure of what to do, then he slowly sat on the edge of the bed.
His hand moved gently over your arm, then your back.
His fingers brushed your hair to sooth you more into sleep but his touch pulled you from your slumber.
Your body tensed up as you woke up, startled.
He stilled immediately, his voice soft as he spoke trying to ground you, "It's me..love. It's just me".
He tried to caress your arm again, "Are you okay?"
But you pushed his hand away, glaring at him. And he knew he were in deep shit.
"I.. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have kept you waiting" he started.
"Stop" you immediately snapped, voice still low but sharp, "Just.. stop. Don't even start with that".
He just stared at you, hus heart breaking into a million pieces.
He didn't dare say anything, he wanted you to let everything out.
You continued, voice cracking between hurt and anger, "I waited for you! I prepared a romantic dinner for us! Candles, flowers" you scoffed, "All that cheesy bullshit.. all for you.. and you? Didn't even bother show up, again!"
Nanami looked down, he felt too ashamed, "I know, love.. and I truly appreciate —"
"No. Don't lie, you're not appreciating anything I do, Kento" you cut in angrily, "Do you know how it feels, sitting there like an idiot, staring at an empty chair every night, hoping that my husband would show up?"
He looked up at you and he was met with pure rage.
Your eyes didn't carry any softness in them, "But of course you don't know how it feels because I've never made you wait. I've always been available".
His jaw was tight, his shoulders tense but he spoke gently, "I know.. you're always there for me.."
You let out a humourless laugh, "Of course you do know that, and that's exactly why you took it for granted... Oh she's always there for me, I'm sure doesn't mind waiting a little longer... oh I'm sure she would understand if I broke a fucking promise... That's what you know, huh?"
You paused, exhaling sharply then added, "But I'm so done being taken for granted"
Guilt etched on his face as he ran a hand through his hair, "I know love. I know I messed up really bad. I've been selfish and I hate I made you feel sad"
You scoffed, "Sad? I'm not sad anymore. I'm feeling embarrassed and pathetic"
That word Pathetic made his breath hitch.
"Pathetic for always being the one who asks, who calls, who waits, the one who wants to spend time together, the one who's always making effort that shouldn't have been one-sided" you continued as you counted then on your fingers, "You have no idea how much I hate myself for it"
Nanami was now at a loss of words, "I'm truly sorry.. love—"
"Stop saying sorry" you shouted, "I'm sick of hearing it everytime. You really think that word would fix everything?".
It was the first time Nanami sees this side of you. No softness, no smiles, just straight up yelling at his face.
It shocked him to the core.
"I understand, and I will do better. I promise you" he said desperately as he took an hesitant step toward you, "I'll be here, I'll make time. I don't want you to feel this alone again"
You shook your head, "Promises don't mean a damn thing to me anymore. You can't just throw around promises you won't keep"
The tension in the room felt so heavy.
Nanami looked at you with broken eyes, desperate to make it right.
And now, you felt it creeping up, the heat on the back of your neck, your heartbeat went crazy as your breath ragged and stomach twisted violently.
You stopped, steadying yourself.
"Love?" said Nanami frowning as your expression changed.
Nausea churned through you and your face went pale.
Without a word, you rushed past Kento who looked alarmed.
You sprinted towards the bathroom clutching your stomach as you felt the urgent need to vomit.
He quickly followed behind you, worry written all over his face.
His heart was pounding, if you were sick because if him, he knew he's never forgive himself.
ʜᴀᴋᴀʀɪ ᴋɪɴᴊɪ : ꜱᴀᴍᴇ ᴘʟᴀᴄᴇ, ᴅɪꜰꜰᴇʀᴇɴᴛ ᴘᴇʀꜱᴏɴ.
You and Hakari finally found time doe each other, no missions, no stress, no nothing.
Both of you were on the couch.
Your legs stretched across his lap as you scrolled through your phone trying to pick a good place for your date night.
Hakari was leaning back into the cushions, one hand on your feet, and the other holding his phone as he played a game.
"Okay.. this one is cute, but it's a bit far" you said and tilted your phone slightly toward him to see.
He glanced over your screen, "Mm.. not really my vibe—but I'll go wherever you choose"
You smiled a little at that, "You're no help at all, but okay"
He let out a short laugh, his eyes still glued on his phone.
Your legs shifted slightly on his lap, "Oh wait! There's is this rooftop place.. This looks really nice actually, it has thay city view at night. I'm sure you'd like this one"
You glanced up, showing him the picture , excitedly anticipating his reaction.
"Oh I know this rooftop place, I used to go there with her all the time" he said casually and you froze.
You clutched your phone in your hand, and said calmly, "Why do you always do that?".
"Hm? Do what?" he asked still focused on his phone.
"Find a way to bring her up everytime"
Now he finally glanced at you, "I didn't –"
"Yes you did" you cut in.
You sat up slightly, pulling your legs from his lap to create some distance.
"I'm just saying that we went there multiple times before.. no big deal"
"No big deal?" you said your eyes widening at his audacity, "I've been trying for hours to pick a nice place, thinking about our date and all you can think about is her?"
His hand tightened around his phone, "You know I didn't mean it like that!!"
You fully stood up now, "This isn't the first time you've brought your ex up, Kinji. So how the fuck am I supposed to know what you truly mean?".
Hakari's patience was running low, "And what if I brought her up? It's not like I'm still in love with her"
The tension thickened as you clenched your fists and said, "I get it Kinji, you broke up but still maintained a good friendship and you know very well I respect your friends, but I believe you should respect our relationship in return"
"So that's what you think? That I don't respect you?" he asked, eyebrows knitting together.
"You've been on your phone the whole time texting or playing games while I've been planning our date. And you didn't bother contribute with any ideas as if you didn't care at all if we went out together or not"
"Aha!!! Here we go again with making me look like the bad, terrible and trashy boyfriend, huh?" he snapped.
"What? Am I lying? You've been just humming while I spoke and the moment you chose to say something you mentioned her" you snapped back.
"You're just overly jealous, Yn. You're not thinking straight"
"Jealous?" you let out a dry laugh, "Nah babe, I just don't tolerate disrespect".
"You'd be calling everything I do disrespect, Yn" he raised his voice.
As you were about to answer him, his phone screen lit up.
He paused as he brought the phone up to check the notifications he received.
You can't deny it, it pissed you off.
You were in the middle of an important conversation and he had the audacity to check his phone.
You huffed in frustration as you snatched his phone from his grip.
You were about to throw it in the couch so you can finish this argument, but stopped, eyes widening when you saw her name.
"Yn give it back" he said.
You can feel your guts twisting as your eyes scanned the open chat on his screen, "You're texting her?"
"It's not what it looks like, Yn , so don't jump to conclusions" he explained.
"So what does it look like?" you said as you scrolled further into their messages, "Having fun sending each other reels and memes hm? That's why you're eyes are always glued to your phone?" you said through gritted teeth.
He tried to rake it again, "Give me the damn phone, Yn for god's sake"
"Why? Are you hiding something? Is there anything else you're sending each other beside these? Nudes perhaps? or confessing how much you missed each other?"
His patience fully snapped, "Oh give me a fucking break!! I'm not hiding shit, am I not allowed to be friends with an ex?"
You yelled back as you threw the phone on his face and he groaned, "Bullshit! You're enjoying your time texting her while I sat there planning a date you don't give a fuck about"
"I do give a fuck about everything you do, Yn—"
You stepped forward, eyes blazing, "I'm so done with you. I don't even know why I've been so patient with you all this time when I clearly deserve better that being your second choice!!"
You walked past him, but he grabbed you by the waist and pulled you back to where you were standing, "You're just assuming things, Yn!"
At this point you were raging, "I can befriend my ex, text him all the time and let's see what you'd assume!"
"I wouldn't assume anything because I trust you!" he said.
"You're lying! you're just trying to make me feel bad for not trusting you. But lemme clarify this, you broke that trust Kin, so it's not on me".
He only stared at you, not knowing what to say anymore.
But you continued, "Oh and if you're that crazy about your ex then go ahead and run back to her. You're a free man now"
You grabbed your bag and strode towards the front door.
"What the hell is that supposed to mean?" he asked heart thumping in his chest.
You stopped mid-step and looked at him over your shoulder, "It means I'm breaking up with you".
Hakari stood there, speechless as you slammed the door behind, leaving him there.
ɢᴏᴊᴏ ꜱᴀᴛᴏʀᴜ : ᴇᴠᴇɴ ᴛʜᴇ ꜱᴛʀᴏɴɢᴇꜱᴛ ᴄᴀɴ ʟᴏꜱᴇ.
You had just come back home from a mission, a rough one.
Not an easy curse but a nasty special grade, yet you handled it by yourself.
You were bruised and beyond exhausted but above all you were proud.
All what you wanted to do, is take a refreshing shower, maybe your boyfriend Satoru could join and then cuddle the whole night.
But somehow, men always find a way to ruin things.
You found Satoru sprawled on the couch, scrolling through his phone.
"I'm back!!" you announced your presence with a smile.
He quickly looked up, "Hi baby—oh, you look roughed up, did you take a beating?"
You took off your shoes, "Nah, just a nasty special grade"
He smiled, "Oh well I'm glad you managed to come back alive"
You paused mid-move, "What did you just say?"
"I said, I'm glad you're alive babe" he grinned.
"Why? You thought I wouldn't handle it alone?" you feeling a bit affected by his comment.
"Alone? No way! I thought you were with the others" He leaned back, "I guess you got lucky".
You can feel the humiliation run through you, "I didn't get lucky, it was all my own effort"
He chuckled, "Cute"
And you genuinely didn't know if he was just teasing you or being for real.
"..cute?" you repeated, fingers tightening slightly against your sleeve.
He smiled, "Yeah.. you're improving!"
Improving, that hit hard.
You laughed dryly, "I exorcised a strong special grade on my own and—"
"And you survived. Good job" he cut in winking.
That tone. Like he's praising a child, like he's underestimating you.
Your chest tightened, "Don't talk to me like that. I'm not one of your students, Satoru"
"Relax! Then what exactly you want me to say? I said you're improving, you have less bruises than last mission—"
You scoffed in disbelief, "Are you serious? I don't need you to evaluate me, Satoru"
He shrugged, "I'm not evaluating you, Yn. I'm just stating the obvious"
"The obvious is that I'm doing my job well as a sorcerer"
"Well if I were you.. I wouldn't be so sure" he tilted his head slightly, "I could wipe out ten of special grades without breaking a sweat"
You just stared at him in shock, ".. why does everything has to be compared to you?"
He blinked as if your question didn't make sense, "Because I'm the standard??"
The way he said so casually pissed you off even more.
"No.. you're not. Not everything revolves around you, Satoru!"
He brought his hands up, "Hey hey, I didn't say that"
You let out a sharp breath, "You don't have to. You act like it".
He stood up now, clearly irritated, "You're taking this way too personally, Yn"
You laughed, "Because it is personal"
You stepped closer as you continued, "Everytime I do something you reduce it to nothing, just because you can do it better".
"Maybe because I'm the strongest? But that doesn't mean I'm belittling you!"
"Do you even hear yourself, Satoru?" you snapped.
"I'm being realistic, Yn!"
You shook your head, anger rising faster now, "No, you're being arrogant!"
He exhaled, "I don't understand why you came home and immediately started picking up fights"
"Maybe because you're making everything about you! We're not competing Satoru, we're in love!" you shouted, "But your ego is always in the way, isn't it, even with me.. And it's making you disrespectful and offensive"
His expression hardened, "I do respect you!"
"Then stop treating me like I'm beneath you"
He instantly snapped back, "Then stop being insecure because I'm stronger and accept it like everyone else already"
You gasped softly.
The moment those words left his lips he wanted to swallow them back.
He regretted each and every word.
He knew he went too far, he was just frustrated.
And when Gojo Satoru is frustrated, he tends to hurt people around him.
Your eyes were glassy, but you didn't cry.
"Baby..I ..." he stepped forward, his arm extending toward you.
But you took a step back, not flinching away, just no wanting him near you.
Your eyes burned through him and a chill ran down his spine.
You quickly started putting your shoes back again, and he tried to stop you, but you glared at him, "Don't. Don't you dare Satoru"
"Baby I didn't —" his eyes softened, but it was too late.
"You're so used to being the strongest" your voice dropped, "You forgot how to stand next to someone instead of above them... I pity you"
And that right there, hit him harder than any insult.
You didn't wait for him to say anything back, you just slammed the door and left.
He wanted to move, to stop you and solve all this, but his legs wouldn't let him.
He was struck by what you said and he stood there reflecting.
Satoru was scared, terrified of losing you and of the loneliness he's been hiding behind his strength.
ʏᴜᴛᴀ ᴏᴋᴋᴏᴛꜱᴜ : ꜱᴇʟꜰʟᴇꜱꜱ ʏᴇᴛ ꜱᴇʟꜰɪꜱʜ
You didn't hear it from him, you heard it from someone else.
And that what made it worse.
The mission, the plan, the risks.
He might not come back alive.
You might lose him forever.
When you finally found him, he was too calm.
Sitting there like it's just another day.
Like he didn't agree to something that could end his life .
You were out of breath as you were running fast to find him.
When he looked up and his eyes met yours, he knew.
"Is it true?" you asked.
He just looked down, didn't answer but didn't deny it either.
Your chest tightened as you let out a shaky breath, "So it's true!"
He stood slowly, and took your hands in his gently, "I promise it's not as bad as it sounds—" he tried to comfort you.
You yanked your hands away, "Not as bad?" you cut him off, voice already shaking, "You agreed to a plan where you might die, Yuta!"
He exhaled, "I have to do it so no one else gets hurt"
"And what about you?" you asked.
He didn't answer right away, because to him, his safety wasn't the priority.
You let out a broken laugh, "Right. Of course you didn't think about yourself, because you always put others first"
"Love please.. I need you to understand me!" he started, eyes soft.
"Understand what?" you snapped, "That's you're willing to die? That's you're willing to leave me? To abandon what we have?"
He took a step forward, cupping your cheek, "Love that's not what I meant—"
"Then what did you mean? because from where I'm standing, it's like you're completely fine with dying as long as everyone else gets to live!" your voice rose, your emotions spilling all over the place.
"Sweetheart please.." he begged.
"Did you even think about me? about us?" your voice cracking.
He stared at you lovingly, his thumbs caressing your skin, and you involuntary leaned into his touch, "Of course I did.."
"Not enough" you shook your head, "Not enough to stop, to refuse throwing yourself in death's grasp"
That landed harder than expected.
"Please understand me, Yn.. you'd be safe—"
But you cut him off again with a scoff, a tear rolling down your cheek, "Safe?" you repeated, "You think that's what I care about? I don't care about being safe if you're gone, Yuta"
Silence crashed down, that comforting smile he was trying to maintain finally dropped.
"I can see it in your eyes, Yuta, you've already accepted the possibility if not making it out alive" your voice trembled, "And it's killing me already"
He was silent the whole time, heart shattering as he listened to you.
"You're being selfless to everyone but selfish to me" you expressed.
Yuta stopped in his tracks. Your words landed so deeply it felt like it went straight through him and stayed there.
But you continued, desperate to make him change his mind, "So you didn't think of a future with me? Am I that unimportant to you to leave behind?"
His breath hitched, "What? Love, of course I did. I always do. I've thought about a lifetime with you! Us getting married and being a family.."
You sniffled, "Then act like it. Act like you really want it to happen, because all what we dreamt of wouldn't be possible of you chose that risky mission over being with me"
He paused, and he realized that he's now in-between; choose the mission but guarantee a peaceful world or choose you and let the chaos take over.
"Don't go... please" you begged whispering, eyes full of tears and it broke him to see you like that.
He swallowed hard, hands shaking, he wanted to say a lot of things but words wouldn't come out.
"So you already took the decision, huh?" you asked.
You didn't wait. You were about to break down in tears so you left running.
"Love wait.. please" he called after you.
Yuta clutched his heart, he was hurting as well.
His eyes started watering, he was stuck in that dilemma, torn between two choices.
