MAI hung-trung

Is preservation becoming a dangerous outbreak? What about the fate of our cities? The apparatus which implements and regulates preservation is sacrifice, but the most complex question is how we can choose to sacrifice the present to the past or the past to the present. Slowly, through ignorance, ineptitude and not least for socio-economical and political reasons, the museification process of the planet had total control. Our cities, consumed by an ever-increasing horde of tourists, who have replaced inhabitants, are turning into self referential caricatures: all postcards. Perhaps we shall have to return to Heidegger’s warnings, according to which “humans live in the way of caring”.
