Despite what Damon Maitsu wants to think, he has been incredibly trusting and kind throughout the Killing Game thus far. His actions contradict a lot of his own inner thoughts. Even though he is often rude heās also rather kind, and thatās important to recognize since he wants to believe heās so de-attached from everyone.
I think the first thing that comes to mind is the first trialās Pathos route, where Damon decides to defend Diana based on his gut feeling despite all the clear evidence- or, trusting Dianaās character to be true over his own deductions. The second thing is when he realizes his trust of Eva is built on nothing. What both of these things have in common is how mad Damon is about it. Damon doesnāt want to defend Diana, he gets incredibly mad at himself when he realizes heās sympathetic to her crying and wants to trust in her. The same goes for Eva, but his trust is lost instead. Damon gets angry when he realizes the only reason he trusted Eva was because he fell into the āUs vs Themā mentality, and he automatically grouped Eva in with himself, but Eva didnāt do the same thing. At the core of the issue, Damon is mad because without even realizing it, he is a hypocrite. He claims the students shouldnāt be able to so easily trust each other, then went and easily trusted just the same- and chose the worst person to acknowledge he trusted.
I say Damon acknowledges he trusted Eva because I think Damon trusts the other students more than he realizes. He is easily able to engage in Free Time Events with every student, except Grace. The fact thereās no Grace FTEās, or to be Meta an exception to āhang out with your favourites!ā rule, makes it feel in-character that Damon trusts the other students enough with his safety, but not Grace. Also, a lot of what happens in those FTEās like Jean picking up Damon by his ankles has to mean theyāre at least some sort of comfort with each other. The other students do seem comfortable with Damon, even the youngest student Toshiko knows she can call Damon a cutesy name like Mochi- heās unhappy about it but ultimately does nothing. Ingrid asks him to help with the laundry and he agrees- grumbles about it later to himself but doesnāt actually protest to Ingridās face, and does his share. Thereās also the fact that Damon doesnāt protest the roommate rule, and then how immediately comfortable he gets with said roommate. He even prefers to sleep in Kaiās room at a certain point, as sleeping alone in his own room makes him too anxious as opposed to sleeping along with someone else. For someone who claims to be untrusting, Damon spends a lot of time with other people one-on-one and in group settings, and being kind to them as well.
The only time I can think Damon doesnāt cooperate with the group is when Eva shows him the Tozu Equation and he says they should keep it secret. However, even then, Damon means *he and Eva* should keep it secret. He still means to work with Eva, as their own private team. He doesnāt go work on it on his own at any point, and asks her about it later if she had made any progress. When she says no, Damon assures her that he hadnāt expected her to with all the ongoing issues. He believes her at face value and doesnāt go to check on it, and was kind to her about the issue.
Still, there is an obvious elephant in the room: Damon is still an outsider. Heās not part of the group, thereās no equal exchange of first. The obvious solution, and one Damon comments on himself multiple times, is that heās cooperating with them only to gain their trust, *not* because he trusts them. However, I think Damon is lying to himself, or is just unaware of how much trust he puts into his actions. For a comparison, I want us to look at Eva. Eva only spends time individually with Damon, who she ātrustsā. Other than that, the only time we see her with others is to gather information or purposefully be seen while plotting her murder. We donāt have much insight on her rooming situation but Dianaās comments imply Eva was often absent from their room. Eva tends to lurk in the boiler room alone, specifically because nobody wants to go down there. She has no interest in her classmates and doesnāt trust any of them, and only takes interest in them when she needs them. Now this could just be a difference of strategy (Eva wanting to gain trust when the time was right, and Damon wanting to gain trust in advance) but frankly, it didnāt work. Damon spent more time cooperating with the class, and yet in the trial they hesitate to believe him over Eva based on his character. The only reason they choose to believe him is because they take a moment to reassess everything Damon has been saying, and draw a logical conclusion. Damon has still gained no real trust from their group, so what was the point of everything heās done if it amounted to nothing?
Damon, whose situation is extremely close to Evaās, is willing to share his living space with another person, to the point he shares the bed with them (his idea btw), not even swapping the bed every night. Eva feels more safe alone with her own mind and intelligence, but Damon has always reached out to other people for security. After Tozu threatened him, Damon went to Kai despite his belief Kai might kill him. When Wolfgang turned the group against him, Damon automatically latched onto the one other outcast, Eva without even realizing it. Heād already latched onto her from the moment they awoke in the boiler room together.
I definitely missed some stuff, like how Damon was the only one willing to grab Kaiās ring in the FTE- just say no if you donāt want to do it Damon. Itās going to be important to remember how kind he is in these earlier chapters since that kindness and trust he employed has now been thrown back in his own face and spit on (thanks Eva), so Iām not sure weāre ever going to see Damon be this unintentionally kind again.
"EPISODE 5 ISN'T A RAGATHA EPISO--"
So I just finished watching Episodes 4 and 5 ofĀ The Amazing Digital CircusĀ for theĀ thirdĀ time because Iāve clearly given my life to this show and Gooseworx owns my soul. Genuinely, what phenomenal writing. I've seen mixed reception for episode five but Iām thrilled that the majority of the fandom can agree this episode was amazing. Because that means I can scream with all you FunnyBunny shippers and dedicated emotional wrecks alike.
Now. Let me get into why Episode 5 wasnāt just a Jax episode (though it very muchĀ was)ābut why it was, at its core,Ā RagathaāsĀ episode. This is gonna be long and laced with āam I overthinking this?ā moments. Buckle up.

Headcanon that Hajime is a big trivia nerd. Does he know how to play an intrument? no. Does he know when Mozart wrote his final symphony? 1788 of course.
I think making this comic made me a KomahinanamiĀ shipper. I just think they are neat :)
I rewatched drv3 and I want to say that I don't dislike Saiouma nor Shuichi at all, -quite the opposite, really!!- but I hate that the basis for it seems to be the mistranslation of Kokichi deeming Shuichi "trustworthy" when in the og game he labels him with "stay catious", which is the OPPOSITE of trustworthy.
Of course he'd be suspicious of a detective being put into a murder mystery killing game, he thought Shuichi was the mastermind! It's such a turn off whenever the "trustworthy" thing is mentioned in fics because it doesn't make any sense: It's not like they had many positive interactions together that would justify Shuichi somehow being trustworthy- at best there's the time Shuichi bandaged Kokichi's finger (basing it all on that would be too emotion driven for someone as logical as Kokichi), at worst there's when Shuichi left Kokichi's concussed ahh to wobble off screen.
(Unrelated, but why do people write Kokichi SOLELY thinking of Shuichi on his deathbed, rather than DICE? He knows DICE isn't real but in his mind that's his family and always has been. People idly mention Gonta too occasionally, but aside from the guilt of getting him killed, Kokichi would think of Gonta more, bc they were actually friends and were often seen hanging out.)
Also the way Kokichi's arc ends with Shuichi deciding there was nothing to Kokichi but lies hurt sm like WDYM? Kaito may have omitted some things, but he still spelled the answer out for you, detective. (He figures it out later when going into Kokichi's room though so it's not a big deal but STILLšš)
I just wish saiouma fics weren't so centered on, well... A lie. There's still plenty of ways to develop them together, even without the trustworthy label! I like their ship, to an extent, and I believe it can be done well while staying true to the og game, but so many things about them seem to be taken at face value rather than truly analyzed. Their dynamic would be more interesting if it stayed true to them, and if both of their flaws were acknowledged, as well as the mind games there could be with Kokichi suspecting Shuichi.
Crazy how the localization also fucked up Kokichi's relationship with Kaito (for example, in ch 2 in the og Kaito tells Maki to let Kokichi go or he'll die, while in the english ver he tells her to let him go or she'll die; end of ch 5, og Kaito says "He was a liar to the core", rather than "he was a lying sack of shit" ) and Gonta (in the og it was more clear Gonta and Kokichi were scheming together in ch2, and that Gonta knew about the true purpose of the insect meet and greet; in general, Gonta is portayed in the english ver as a dumb caveman and I wish people wrote him by just making him talk formally but in the third person like he does in japanese, because it takes away from his character- and, by extension, Kokichi's)
I've read SO much fanfiction in this fandom, and the probability of me finding something that addresses the canon dynamics rather than the localization ones is lower than the chance of a meteorite coming to kill me on my birthday. What a shame.
I still love most things this fandom makes, so I guess this -the trustworthy thing- is just a pet peeve of mine.
okay, by popular demand (and by popular demand, i mean 3 people and my inability to keep my mouth shut) i am here with my saiou/ousai relationship + mini character analysis. this is an elaboration on this ask i got earlier !!
i should mention that iāve only ever played through v3 once, so there is probably a lot i am missing, nuance wise and what not. i also havenāt edited this well, so itās kinda just a word dump (sorry), so iām not sure how understandable/coherent itāll be. nor do i know how original my ideas are; thereās probably someone whoās dumped their opinions exactly like mine somewhere⦠in any case, here is my conclusion on why i think saiou is a rather intriguing ship and why iām personally drawn to them, individually n otherwise āļø
Little Snippets #6
(A/N: Vote winner so I did my best to finish this)
"Screw it, i am done..." Danny grumbled as he stepped onto the watchtower through a portal, ignoring the startled heroes around him, or his own rather disheveled state. His green glowing eyes surveyed the room he was in for a brief moment before his eyes zeroed in on the one hero that caused to much work for him.
"YOU!" He pointed an accusing finger at the red clad hero before floating over and grabbing the hero by the front of his hero suit. "Do you have any idea how much work you cause me!"
Danny got one confused blink before he launched into a rather thorough explanation of what he just went through fixing 20 different timelines that got created because of one flashpoint while shaking the Flash like he was a ragdoll, ignoring the other heroes around him.
Clark, who arrived a little late to the meeting, looked around the meeting room confused. He glanced to the side to one of his hero colleagues. "Is there....?"
"A white haired floating teen boy giving Barry the lecture of a lifetime?" Oliver cut in arms crossed as he watched on. "Yes, there is."
Clark blinked, looking back at the scene and then back at Oliver. "And..."
"And Bruce is actually taking notes and enjoying Barry getting lectured to an inch of his speedster life while also getting information on time itself? Yes he is." Oliver added an, his tone slightly frustrated but also happy that he wasn't at the receiving end of the teen boy's rant. The kid had been going on about different time lines and the multiverse theory as well as how Barry apparently created several different timelines any time a new flashpoint happened or the past gets seemingly changed. Oliver wasn't even sure the kid was breathing with the way he had been talking non stop.

Fuck off Satan
inspired by this post
Danny Phantom, the Ghost King and part-time Justice League member, stood in the Watchtower briefing room, arms crossed and very much trying to look professional. The meeting had been dragging on, and his phone had already buzzed twice, much to Batmanās annoyance.
The third time, it started vibrating again, drawing glares from the Dark Knight and a few raised eyebrows from other Leaguers.
"Phantom," Batman said, his voice a growl.
Danny sighed, pulling out his phone. "Yeah, yeah, I know. Ghost King business doesnāt wait. Let me justā" He hit the answer button with a sharp jab.
"What?!" Danny snapped, glaring at the screen.
The room fell silent. They hadnāt seen Phantom lose his temper like this before.
On the other end, a smooth, deep voice oozed through the speaker.
"Respectfully, my liege, I ask that you reconsider my proposal onā"
Danny cut him off mid-sentence. "Not today, Satan." With an exasperated sigh, he ended the call and pocketed the phone without another thought.
The reaction was immediate. Superman chuckled, Green Lantern grinned, and Flash burst into laughter. Even Wonder Woman's lips twitched upward.
"Nice," Hal said, giving Phantom a thumbs-up. "Solid delivery."
Danny waved it off. "What can I say? Heās persistent, and Iāve got no time for his nonsense today."
But not everyone was laughing. Constantine sat ramrod straight, pale as a sheet, his cigarette dangling precariously from his lips.
"Danny," Constantine croaked, his voice barely above a whisper. "Was that the Satan? Like... Lucifer Morningstar Satan?"
Danny blinked, tilting his head. "Uh, yeah? Who else would it be? Dudeās been pestering me about a territorial dispute with the Infinite Realms for weeks."
The entire room went quiet again, and all eyes turned to Constantine. The seasoned warlock looked like he might pass out on the spot.
"You just hung up on the actual Devil," Constantine hissed, his British accent thick with disbelief.
Danny shrugged. "Yeah, and? Heās one of my subjects. Iām the Ghost King. I outrank him. If he wants to whine about his little hellish boundaries, he can take a number."
Constantineās eyes darted around the room, desperately seeking someone to share in his existential terror, but the rest of the League didnāt seem to grasp the gravity of what just happened.
"You outrank..." Constantine trailed off, rubbing his temples. "Bloody hell, kid, you donāt just hang up on Lucifer!"
Danny smirked, leaning casually against the wall. "Oh, I do. And Iāll do it again if he calls during League meetings. Iāve got enough on my plate without playing arbiter for Hellās bureaucracy."
Clark patted Constantine on the shoulder. "Relax, John. Sounds like Danny has it under control."
John groaned. "Weāre all doomed."
Danny, unfazed, pulled out his phone again and started texting. "Now, if weāre done freaking out, can we get back to the meeting? Or do I need to block Satanās number to make that happen?"
The League collectively laughed, except for Constantine, who was muttering something about needing stronger wards and a drink.

I think the concept of personal space in parkour civilization is different compared to the regular world.
People here have at least one block distance from eachother and even bigger of other levels. Everyone stays on their own block and don't dare to jump on a block person occupying. Mostly because because you just risk to fall off ot with that person, but if you do happen to share this space with someone intentionally it meens something special.
Sharing an already small space with another person? Risking to fall on to the lower parkour lever or even straight into the abyss? That meens you trust them, know that they won't betray you and push you off the block, that they will be careful to not jump straight on you and not fall into your demise. And this person trusting you to give them enough space, that you will catch them if they tip over the edge.
But the highest form of showing trust and connection here is probably jumping together on one block in sync, especially if you're doing it fast and without much effort. When to people move like a man and their shadow, not hesitating in their jump and being able to change direction without any delay on anyone's part - that takes skill and time. Time that they spend together, skill that they grew together.
It wouldn't be surprising if Parkour God and His Champion would also to do that, considering how devoted they are to eachother and ready to risk everything just to be always by their side
Bro why are you wasting talent like on my inbox; you belong on ao3, stuff like this would do numbers there lol
As I tend to do I am going to analyze this and give my take; I am going to break this down point by point. First when we come to your idea of personal space being different in Parkour Civilization, I think that is a super fascinating idea. In their world one wrong jump at least if you are a pro or a noob spells death, before evbo took over. As you said this would explain people having a different idea of personal space, the more room you have from other people gives you a more controlled environment for making jumps. Also while not a directly violent society it is shown that people don't view death the same way; they will kill you in a parkour battle if they need to or you refuse to surrender. This idea then can very easily be grafted onto people wouldn't have many reservation of pushing you into the void if it means they get to live; kind of like when people are ice skating and they start to fall so they grab the people around them, stabilizing themselves but causing others to fall. All of these points would imply or at least lend credence to personal space being a much bigger deal in their world; however, there is one thing this argument is neglecting there are places in the world without parkour.
In this universe the outside world is a majority parkour, this is of course reflected in other parks of their society with things like transactions being parkour and in the architecture. However on the note of architecture while parkour is incorporated there are still large area's with zero jumps. This raises an interesting issue. While outside people want as much space as possible, so would this also be reflected while inside where jumps aren't as plentiful? Would people let down their barriers if they think they are safe, or does life harden them to never trust the people around them even when they don't pose a threat? Honestly I don't have an answer to this that satisfies me; I don't know enough about behaviors or habits and how they form to give a well informed answer. One would assume that when you are almost always in a situation of life or death a moment of peace wouldn't make you drop you walls, however the people in this world don't act normally.
Evbo for example loves parkour, everyone does, and death is seen as not really something that is important even back when it was permeant. So would these people view this as a life or death situation or just another day? I think a parallel to real life would be driving, by all measures it is very dangerous but a huge number of people do it everyday; every time someone steps behind the wheel of a car their chances of dying that day skyrocket but we don't care. This might also be the way people in their world view doing jumps. Of course its dangerous but its life and they don't know anything different than it. Of couse when we drive we follow rules, more or less. I could see this being the same as traveling with parkour there are rules you follow but once you get to solid ground then you can relax. This is all to say that while personal space is important outside, once inside it becomes more akin to how we view it. I feel like i've bled this point dry so I'll move onto another thing you brought up which was doing parkour simultaneously or on the same block.
Even if doing parkour is just a common task to these people I still think they would see doing it on the same blocks as someone a very personal thing. If I once again make a parallel to the real world and automobiles this might be something similar to riding on a motorcycle. It is a much more dangerous thing to do and requires close contact, if you have any sense you would need to have a huge amount of trust in the person you are doing it with because if either of you screw up it could mean certain death. As a certified Mavbo shipper I of course think this would translate into their relationship. However, I'm going to take it a step further.
I don't think EMF would fear doing any jumps. His best friend, his love, is the god of parkour. He is loved by the very concept, so would he ever be hurt by it? Would he believe that Evbo would never let his domain bring harm to him, even if he makes a mistake does he have complete faith in his god to make it okay? I would think so. I think this is especially true when we consider the type of person Evbo is. He is someone that does dangrous insane things knowing the risks but has faith that he will succeeded. Seeing this same philosophy being practiced by his most devote, I don't think he would let that trust in him, in his idea be misplaced.
While I do have more to say on this topic I have to return to doing work. My books on arbitration law wont read themselves, sadly. I hope this was an adequate response. Also I was being serious earlier assume you are the same person as all of the other askes your writing has a lot of emotion in it and is very compelling. I could def see it doing very well in fanfic spaces, but you do you.
Can anyone help me find if thereās an actual canon of the no meta rule for Batman?
For all I can remember itās always been fanon but Iām trying to find if thereās any comic panels that reference it or imply it.
Thanks to @nerdpoe and @love-has-no-labels for their help! :D
This is my favorite fandom game to play āwhere did this popular trope come fromā
Fr dude itās genuinely so fun and fascinating to go down the rabbit hole and see why. Next up: Tim Drakeās caffeine addiction.
Quick update on the Tim Drake caffeine thing: the coffee is fanon but he drinks this fucked up soda instead.
Edit: this post has sources for both Tim and Barbara
https://www.tumblr.com/fantastic-nonsense/662388963417407488/so-heres-the-thing-wellthree-things-one?source=share
Adding the link because it wouldn't let me embed it
Okay, some further digging down the "zesti is a fucked up soda" rabbit hole turned up these pages from Psyba-Rats (1995) #3
It's magically addictive (although the well is destroyed in the ensuing fight in the following pages, so that stops being a problem), but presumably doesn't have any special caffeine level or other stimulant.
tl;dr Tim Drake is raw dogging life with neither sleep nor caffeine.
But now the question is: where did "sleep deprived Tim" come from?
Like the Batfamily, he has bad sleep habits in general
But none of it is the insane ā78 hours+ awakeā that a lot of fans have blown it out to be. In a lot of comics heāll pull an all nighter and be awake for 48 hours but nothing ridiculously extreme
Itās really fun to see other people play this game
Thereās just something fascinating about examining the source of a trope and seeing how it evolved into its modern fandom version. Seeing what gets simplified, what gets exaggerated, what got added is just very interesting to me
Itās like looking at fossil records and seeing the shift as one species becomes another, or going to the Galapagos and seeing how the species became two versions
I think the Galapagos metaphor works especially well with the crossover fandom because not only do we have source material to compare it to but also the non crossover fandoms to compare them to ļæ¼
Tim canonically probably sleeps more than the other bats. It's just all done in catnaps in the most random places (like an actively moving rollercoaster)
The amount of times in comics heās fallen asleep in the most bizarre of locations is countless. Who needs caffeine fueled Tim when you can have Takes Nap On The Roof Of The Batmobile Tim?
