Things that also happen on Rosmary and Thyme
- Rosemary “LAURA WE’rE BEING SHOT AT!!!” (rips open the front door of the house they’re staying in and roars into the night) “LOOK WHAT YOU’VE DONE YOU’VE BROKEN THE BLOODY WINDOW-!” (gets yanked back inside by Laura)
- that feeling when your ex-boyfriend, who just tried to restart things with you, fires you from your teaching job via letter, and the next time you see him you punch him
- Laura was very into that, BTW
- Almost every episode has a potential male love interest who is always either Evil or Yes You’re Very Lovely But I Have To Go Gardening With My Lady Friend Bye
- the plots are so stupid someone held them at bow gun point and there was almost death by the world’s slowest descending elevator once it was great
- so many good over the top screams, roars, squeaks and growls
- That time Laura was dangling from a terrifying drop of maybe four feet any Rosemary came to her rescue by grabbing her attacker with a literal HIII-YA!
- First scene of the series is a cabbie impatiently waiting while Laura takes one last silent look at the house she shared with her husband, who just left for a much younger woman after years marriage, kids, and Laura giving up her own career thanks to pressure from him- and you think she’s about to cry… until she picks up a rock and LOBS IT through a window
- Laura’s dad was a farmer and she’s full of common wisdom and sayings
- Rosemary is a admitted bookworm and almost always uses the scientific name for plants
- First episode has Rosemary quoting poetry at Laura, as you do
- Wine. So much wine and beer
- Laura’s struggle with the Landrover which makes some truly distressing sounds “OH” (cracking groaning screech from the gear box) “GOD!!!!”
- That one time a cop was being so smarmy, assumed they with in a relationship, and then said he personally felt that lifestyle was disgusting- and Laura go sO PISSED SHE an ex-cop herself WITHHELD EVIDENCE JUST BECAUSE SHE DIDN’T WANT THIS DICK TO HAVE IT
- That time Laura’s adult son was at gunpoint and Rosemary ran the bad guy down with an electric scooter
- Laura’s story is the main emotional thread outside of her and Rosemary’s friendship and while it’s often sad the theme is that she’s making a new life now that’s actually HERS again and it’s going to be ok
- That time Laura volunteered herself for a small role in an armature play, while they were supposed to be working on the gardens, and she was SO into it and had SO much fun hamming it up on stage
- They’re taking care of a baby they found under a bush (dont ask) and that night Rosemary discovers that babies don’t sleep much while Laura, mother of two, gleefully snoozes
- This is like the super tame version of Xena and Gabrielle the subtext is so strong the nonsense is so high
- Lots of them rushing to the other’s rescue, listening to each other’s drama, being the new family the other one needs
- Also lots of banter and snark
- That time Laura thought Rosemary was dead and it broke her, then the moment she sees Rosemary again she’s just bubbly joy despite the fact there’s been a murder
- Laura waiting next to some evidence in the woods and making OmO faces at the little stone gargoyle she’s sitting with
- Laura excitedly getting them a tent so they can camp out and then crawling feebly out of her side of it the next day, her every move clearly spelling regret. Meanwhile Rosemary, who hated the idea, woke up bright and perky
- middle aged women just living their lives solving murders
- they’re not even like slooths or anything it’s just that they show up and people start dying
- in the early days they would like, at least poke each new body to check for life, but later on its just (brief glance) well obviously this ones dead, even though usually the person's just lying there, could be napping, but nah they're sure 100%
- they are constantly broke and often take ehh jobs because of it
- one time Rosemary goes off on her own to look for clues and leaves a note for Laura signed “love, Rosemary” aww
- At the end Laura’s in a funk because both her kids will be away for Christmas (each one thinks their mum will be spending it with the other) and she's resigned to being alone, even refuses Rosemary’s offer to spend it with her and her mother instead- But the subtext makes it clear by the end that there’s no way in hell Laura’s gonna be on her own for the holidays on Rosemary’s watch
- (she even makeshifts a Rudolph the red nosed reindeer for Laura, out of season, using a donkey plushy, some pipe cleaner antlers, and a grape on a toothpick for his nose, which makes Laura crack up laughing)
- They are literally just a long running pun on a song lyric
- the only thing accurate in this show is the plants and the gay everything else it ridiculous I love it
