So let's begin, my darling dears!

How very cute is Julie and Mildred's apartment? I love seeing all of Mildred's art on the walls and photos of scenery which I like to think they were all taken by Julie! Also love that Mildred made her mum breakfast TcT They're just a cute and supportive artsy lil family!! <3

Also can we talk about how anxiety inducing Mildred and Maud are on the broom?! Like I'm sorry but if my kid was off to an academy you best believe they'd have more training or I'd be one of those parents that flies with my kids to their new school, but I digress. It just scares me how often witches have broom accidents all the time and luckily it's just scraps and bruises I guess!

But let's go to what we're really here for... ADA AND HECATE!!!! My beloved Headmistress and Potions Mistress!! HB is pissed, rigid af, she is not to be truffled with. (That's an Office reference!) Ada, my sweet sunshine!! My smiling and hopeful and favoritest Headmistress!! In a gentle and hope filled voice! "Here they come, the future of witchcraft."

Versus our annoyed and precious HB! She is not fucking around, the sass of this woman on the very first episode. Talking shit about the girls. (Also why are so many of them wearing freaking matching outfits with their parents? For what reason is that but also I freaking love it!! ) I don't blame her for being worried about the witchcraft in decline! (Honestly would love to go more in depth about this world. ESPECIALLY after reading the books?! Like what's up with the decline of Witchcraft? What is The Grand Wizard doing about this? Why do we always deal with that guy when we also have a Witch and Magician that of equal power?)

Also forgot Miss Gullet just strolls up to introduce herself like such a dork, "Health and safety is very important." Like if this is the energy she brings to the staff parties I understand why she's not invited lol. And HB's comment after "I truly despair for the future" me too girl me too but that's why we got sunshine characters like Miss Cackle to give us hope!!! 🩷

We meet Ethel, THE BANE OF MY EXISTENCE! 'm just saying but that pond? That's my home, whenever you need me, I'm there.

Hecate's little doom music when she's questioning Mildred. I'm freaking obsessed with her. And Maud looking over to nowhere smiling at where she think Miss cackle is. Also this convo: "Is it magic?" "Better, It's sugar." Baby you are MY ANGEL. My girl got lemon drops (ONE OF MY FAVE CANDIES IF YOU CARE lol)

Also Maud used to be sooo good at snap backs. Her 'Didn't your mother teach you not to be a bossy old toad?" First of all how dare you speak about my toad brethren, but any thing that annoys Ethel I shall applaud! uwu

Love how Ethel went from leading the other girls to snooping to Maud's and Mildred's conversation in the kitten room? GIRL, GET A LIFE! To be fair though if I was Ethel and some girls strolled up not knowing anything about magic I'd be suspicious/annoyed too. However the way she torments Mildred for YEARS?! Low-key reminds me of post from forever ago where a girl wrote 'when i was 7 i had a crush on a girl and i didn't know how to deal with it so i wrote her a letter just saying get out of my school' lol

AND THE SCENE WHERE THEY'RE IN THE KITCHEN AND WE'RE INTRODUCED TO AGATHA! Maud confuses her for Miss Cackle but like it's okay with me because the way she does that little bob and switches to a gentle voice and less intimidating pose to pretend to be Ada? *CHEF KISS!!!* THE RANGE OF CLARE HIGGINS!! I am too gay to function. Also the Ada and Agatha show down in the kitchen.

Now when we go to the Exam room and I just love Miss Cackle's line: "Don't think about what's not in the old cauldron. Think about what is." She's a good Headmistress!! Yes she has faults but she's a force of good and I will DIE on this hill!!

Now when Ada asks Hecate to take charge. I LOVE!!! Because Hecate is looking over the girls with a furrowed brow but when Ada speaks to her, she blinks and her expression softens for Ada. That's what I love most about them!!! The softness that Hecate has for Ada!? THAT IS MY JAM!!!

Also the way Agatha says she wants to write about the school. Like she's freaking using clickbait tactics for her fake website. '20 things you didn't know about Cackles, number 9 will shock you" lol Like Agatha PLEASE! But let's be real I would so read like an Agatha gossip blog where she's shady about everyone she writes about. Like actually what a lucrative career for her. And she would do great writing about all the blunders of Cackle's Academy. Titles likes "Cackle's Academy falling apart. LITERALLY." 'Decade old frog now teaching at the Academy.'

Anywho I love them. I know Clare Higgins is acting with herself but gosh she's so good at it. And ALSO IT KILLS ME how sweet Agatha seems when she apologizes. Also the way Ada eats that cookie. Inside thought: WISH that were me! Also let's talk about how Ada is like sure you can talk to one of my staff and recommends HB... Girl... That's so mean but also well played.

Also in the exam room there is this moment THAT I'M OBSESSED ABOUT when HB and Miss Gullet step off the stage in sync to collect the exams. It's just a small detail I really like okay and I haven't rambled about it yet!

Also really love the Potions scene when Ethel is going for a level eight potion and she so confidently says only because a level nine isn't allowed. SHOW OFF! The way that Ada and Hecate look at each other when Ethel wants to breath fire? Like I dunno about this.. Might want to get the fire alarm ready lol AND FREAKING MISS BAT she's like oh my word this girl doesn't even know what a sliver of bee's brain is.

Now back to Agatha now presented with the World's Best Potions Mistress!!! LOVE how Hecate says "web-SITE" Like I already love the tension between Agatha and Hecate like GOSH dude... When Agatha says "Well maybe you should be... (worried)" You can see Hecate's chest rise. Life if HB could breath fire I TELL YA! Agatha would be TOAST! I also love how Hecate raises her head understanding Agatha's true intentions.

Back at the potions lab, Hecate's entrance like I've returned stop the joy! Also Ethel as a worm is one of my favorite transformations of hers. That little squeaky voice complaining? Lol I enjoy it so much. And when they're in Miss Cackle's office after the fiasco of Mildred and Ethel. I think it's just so cute how Maud comes in to defend Mildred. Like Maud even talked back to HB. THE BRAVERY OF MAUD!!! SHE IS SUCH A GOOD FRIEND! And how she stares HB down when Mildred is leaving. Maud is so tiny but is like you make an enemy of me this day Miss Hardbroom. Lol

Also Mildred walking around the castle, moping around. IT'S SO SAD DUDE!!! And Agatha pretending to be Ada in the dark MAKING A LITTLE GIRL CRY. Agatha you monster. YOU BEAUTIFUL MONSTER!!! Also when she goes into the kitchen asking for a sample of the food. Ada would do that and that's so cute actually. BUT NO it's Agatha being sneaky and what she did to Miss Tapioca!!! WHAT IN THE CASK OF AMONTILLADO IS THIS?! FREE HER!

Also Agatha making potions and being all evil with her sinister smile!!!! LISTEN, I know she's bad, BUT SHE MAKES IT LOOK SO GOOD!!! Even the way she speaks, like when she says "Mandrake root.. hear it scream~" She didn't have to go that hard but gay little me is SO pleased that she did.

Now jumping forward before Mildred interrupts Miss Cackle's speech there is a moment where she's talking about how at Cackle's they believe that every witch deserves a free education and I like how Esme is smiling while listening. It's another one of those small details I really like! Like Esme taking the time out of her break to help HB and Miss Cackle I find just really sweet and endearing also you can tell that she respects them a great deal which I really love. Esme is a good character and I so desperately wish we had more of her in the show!!

Now HB's reaction to Miss Cackle being interrupted. AMAZING! She's so terrifying honestly. Meanwhile all this is going down Miss Bat is like maybe it's time for a nap? Get you some shut-eye girl we'll wake you up for dinner lol Also Dimity Drill sneaking a bite. I LOVE THAT SCENE! She gives Maud a little wink. Also love how Ada says she's rambled long enough. WISH I COULD SAY THE SAME BUT I'M ABOUT TO RAMBLE A WHOLE LOT MORE!!!!

Meanwhile Mildred is trusting a frog to help make her a potion. I know he's qualified but Mildred really taking advice from a frog? Like.. If it were any other frog who knows what might've happened but we're not here to talk about the questionable decisions of character or writings of the show! We're here for tomfoolery, the buffoonery, and most importantly the sorcery!!

Anywho waiting for Miss Cackle to eat is so funny. Like no one dares to eat a bite until Miss Cackle's had the first bite because of Hecate's instructions. Hecate is about that respect!! She's like no one even takes a bite unless my- I mean OUR beloved headmistress takes the first bite! But she's SO incredibly slow. Let me get my napkin, let me clean my spoon, let me check out my reflection. OH WAIT, can't forget some seasoning! Lol

AND OMG the way Agatha made her entrance. Like, TWAS I THE ONE THAT ADDED A POTION TO SOUP! FOLLOW ME!! And poor Dimity.. AND ASKDJFHKA! Freaking Miss Gullet I swear. "She is under the influence of a total-obedience spell!" It's how she says it like she's just solved the case. And how she nods like and it's a powerful one too. Like quit complimenting the enemy Miss G PLEASE! Also I don't know if it's just me. But when Agatha invokes section 7 of the witches code aka witching duel, it looks like Miss Gullet has a hint of a smile?! Love that about a rewatch! You sometimes notice something you didn't before! <3

And I already rambled about the scene where HB interrupts their duel to get Midred to safety? Like the trust she has to have her back to Ada MID DUEL! The trust I TELL YOU. Also I just love the difference in the duel. Agatha is all offense while Ada is all defense. LIKE ADA DIDN'T WANT TO FIGHT HER SISTER! I'm over here like LET ME SEE ADA'S FULL POTENTIAL! ALL HER POWER!!!! GIMME GIMME GIMME!!!

Also I know Mildred was trying to help and I LOVE HER I DO, but finding out Ada was prepared with protection spells. Ada then sacrificing herself and the school to keep Mildred safe!!! THE FREAKING WAY THAT HECATE LOOKS AT SNAIL ADA?! SHUT UP!! I CAN'T DUDE!!! To the switch up of "Well let me be the first to congratulate you on your victory, new Headmistress" SHE HAS THE RANGE DARLING!!! Also Miss Bat's "Hecate Hardbroom! After all Ada did for you." And Esme's "Miss Cackle was strong." Like the loyalty and belief people have for Ada Cackle. YESSIR! That's what I'm talking about baby!

And I know I've already rambled about this but I will never get over Maud's line with her little stink face "And Agatha's really evil." Like Agatha took SUCH offense to that and it cracks me up every single time! xD Also so love how HB tries to give hints to Mildred like WE'RE ALL BOUND TO THE WITCHES CODE wink wink. Like I can only imagine what's going on through her head. Like I know called you dumb Mildred but for the love of everything please catch these hints I'm dropping to do something since you're the only one that can. Meanwhile Agatha is shit-talking to a snail. TcT

Now I'm about to go off the handle as I'm sure some of you might've assumed. Like first of all, what a performance from Hecate playing along with Agatha's takeover as if she does not care so deeply for Ada. Like you can SEE the relief and happiness from Hecate having Ada unharmed and her true self in front of her!!!! LIKE I CAN'T GET OVER THIS MOMENT AND I NEVER WILL! I'll NEVER stop ranting and raving about this moment from Selection Day. Like HB has been so uptight, strict and annoyed like this whole time but here she is completely opposite of all that! Her body language, her tone, her expression is so much more relaxed, so much softer and gentle when she's interacting with Ada and this moment where they're using first names, holding hands, smiling together?!!?! Like just freaking ASDJfajskajwlekfj!!! It's my jam!! Like when I seen this the first time I was like OH SHIT! This is for me! THIS IS A SHIP FOR MEEEE!!! And I'll be here FOREVER! BELIEVE IT!!!

Okay so now that's over. I LOVE that we're in Miss Cackle's Office. Something about HB's arm on Ada's chair just makes my whole day! I like to think it's some of that lingering protectiveness from HB. Also I don't know how I feel about people being able to just be transferred without consent lol. Like Ms Hubble was cleaning the toilets but what if someone's using a toilet and they get transferred somewhere? Is this just something I'm not supposed to think about?! Don't think about it too much it will haunt you lol.

Also I know Agatha is in trouble but being sent back home to her mother? That's just cruel... And her finding out she doesn't have powers on top of that... Like it's funny enough thinking she's been there in a ll that soup and didn't once think of trying to use a cleaning spell OR ANYONE FOR THAT MATTER?! THE DISRESPECT! Lol OH and the little gasp she does before she sits defeated. LISTEN I KNOW I KNOW she's done bad but it does make me sad!

Back to Ms Hubble finding out that magic is indeed real and having a hard time processing it. And I love love LOVE HB's "If you need more proof, I'll happily turn you into a pumpkin." And Ada's little: "Hecate." OBSESSED! OBSESSED!!! And Julie's quick "All right, Mrs. I'm So Magical. If you're so much better than me, how about conjuring up some manners." OBSESSED!!! I TELL YOU! The huge grin on Mildred's face, the absolute disbelief from HB and the hint of a smile from Ada. OH MY GOSH! What a phenomenal scene!!

And I really really adore the scene between Julie and Mildred. I love that you can tell Julie doesn't want her to be so far away from home, she's been hit with so much and to only have this like life changing conversation in the time frame of minutes. Like imagine going from seeing your daughter every day and then to magical boarding school?! Like it's so heartbreaking to me dude. I also love that Mildred sees her mom upset/disappointed and immediately she wants to fix that and says 'No, it's dumb anyway I'll go to this school if it's what you want' But Julie sees how excited she is about this school and knows this is such a unique opportunity for Mildred! And for Julie to say "All I want is for you to be happy." UGH! SHE'S A GOOD MOM!!! Oh, wait sorry. SHE'S SUCH A GOOD MUM!!! TcT

Also can we talk about Maud bullying Ethel while they wait for the decision on whether or not Mildred has made it into Cackle's?! AND MAUD CALLING HER A WORMFACE?! Maud is so mean when she wants to be lol.

But back with my beloved Ada and HB. Finishing up their talk with Julie. I will never find it unfunny that HB has the audacity to say "Witches don't really do pink." With Miss Cackle in her jumper RIGHT THERE and her own pink lipstick which actually kind of matches said jumper. Interesting... intriguing... my dear HB lol. And the rudeness of transporting Julie home before she was ready!? HOW DARE!

Now one of my all time favorite Miss Cackle and Miss Hardbroom moments, after sending Julie home. Hecate's sigh and easing of her shoulders before she clicks her tongue and drags one of her fingers down Ada's desk before saying "Still got a good feeling about this year?" LIKE THE WAY SHE LOOKS AT ADA!!!! AHHHH! I love playful banter!!!! Like the tilt of the head and eyeing her Headmistress like "hmm?" Before they look away from one another. Perfection~
