So basically it’s a tattoo AU. The future Paladins are born with the ‘V’ symbol tattoo on them that can glow. It’s not a normal tattoo it’s almost like glass etched in the skin. It’s very rare to be born with this tattoo. You can acquire the tattoo later in life if a Paladin dies if you are meant to be the next Paladin. The mark is called The Mark Of The Paladin or Paladin’s Mark and it gives the person one special power. People born with this mark are looked up to and considered the ones who will move the world into a better future. They are out under a lot of pressure and are supposed to be good examples and perfect basically.

•Keith was born with his on his lower back. It went from Red to Black when Shiro died. He flipped out because he didn’t know what it meant. He has the power of fire but when it changed to black it became an ethereal sort of power.

•Hunk has his yellow one over his heart. It’s the most beautiful shade of yellow in the world and it pulses slightly along with his heartbeat. Hunk has the power of healing.

•Lance has his on his right bicep. When he was switched Lions, it turned a brilliant red. Lance had water abilities but they switched to fire.

•Pidge’s tattoo is under her right eye. It’s a very pretty forest green color. She has the nature ability. Like In the original she is connected to all living things and is able to access the “network” of them.

• Shiro did have his on his upper back. It was purple. He had the ethereal power. When he died it became a scar instead. His soul remained inside the lion and he can verbally communicate with his kids- I mean other Paladins

• Allura was originally not born with a Mark Of The Paladin. When she was put in control of blue a pink one had suddenly etched into the back of her left hand. She gained the power of water.
