I do like to think they had a bit of a mutual crush going on as kids before they grew apart for whatever reason. and after they reconnect they bond closer and closer back to being best friends like before but neither can make sense of the feelings too well and they mutually friendzone. So they both date around have other boyfriends/girlfriends. Noelle dates more than kris, but those relationships eventually end; whenever one is down in the dumps the other is there to scream at the void w them. Confidantes if you will
What you say about not realising feelings are love- yes! I think because it’s not butterflies in the stomach neither realises what it means until one day, years later. So they agree to go on a date, and it’s in many ways more like how they hung out before. They watch creepypasta videos and eat pizza and make out and it’s the best fucking date noelle has ever had.
Shortly after, they decide to start using Big Relationship words (my partner, my girlfriend) and they end up settling down. They act like an old married couple even when they’ve been dating only for like 3 weeks kek
Tl;dr: kriselle endgame- but it takes them time to get there
