small update !!!
a few small changes have been made to various pages around the main, but the most important change is that players now only need to be 21+ to join ! muses and faceclaims do still need to be 24+, but players themselves can be 21-23 and join our game. in the upcoming week we’ll be having a more in depth activity check, ensuring that players are interacting on the dashboard as well as responding to our discord interest check. those who have not posted since our last check ended on june 8th will be put on warning, and required to interact within 48 hours. that being said, we hope to see everyone active between now and wednesday to avoid this issue ! we’re also continuing to post about various SHOWS & PODCASTS the website hosts, and just released our SECOND TASK this past thursday! as always, any questions can come straight to the main or the admin on discord. we hope you’re having an excellent week, and we look forward to hopefully having some new applications to review this upcoming tuesday around 5pm CST !

and now, the news.
what and now, the news is a twice weekly video segment, about twenty minutes long, focused on spreading news in easy bite sized fragments. with no specific focus, they cover everything from finances to politics, health to sports, celebrity gossip to world updates. small daily updates come out with weird news, around 2- 5 minutes long, with an emphasis on the unusual or funny. told with a humorous spin, the show has two primary hosts but often has guest speakers and special hosts to focus on different ‘specialties’, and topics covered in the show also usually have an article written to go alongside it by the writing staff for more details. where the hoopla offices holds a news studio, where the show records on a daily basis. we(a)kdays also records on the set, but often as a background for the ‘shenanigans’ they’re performing. who the research team behind and now, the news, is made up of four key researchers who each tackle specific sections of the press and news circuit. the hosts are merely showpieces, and while they take on other responsibilities, rarely tackle the task of researching for their segments. altogether, roughly twelve people operate the segment between research, filming and post-production.

social media task two
when you work for a website, social media is both a requirement and an outlet - for those behind the scenes, it’s a way to showcase themselves beyond hoopla. for those on camera, it’s another fragment of their persona’s hoopla has helped them cultivate. however they use social media, most millennials these days have one, two or several accounts across different platforms, some are public, some are private, and some people just don’t care what they have out there. for this task, we invite you to dive deep into your character’s social media outlook - what they use, how often they use it, etc. !
some suggestions:
go creative ! there are tons of social media templates or websites you can use to make faux templates and show off your muses social media presence.
go developmental ! write out what their views are on social media - are they pro, or con? do they have any opinions on it at all? how does it effect their life outside of work?
go wild ! there are tons of resources out there in general, and we’re glad to answer any questions you have. but this task is all about your interpretation of what you want to do! fulfill this task as many times as you want, whenever you want! there’s no date restrictions or requirements to fill at any time.
as always, tasks are optional and meant to help with development and muse throughout your time here at hoopla. all questions can be directed towards the main blog, and previous asks will be filtered in this tag!

it’s the start of a new workweek tomorrow here at the hoopla offices, so a quick update:
we’ll be performing our first activity check over the course of the next few days. we’ll be posting a call on our discord channel, and to anyone who doesn’t respond there or send a message by wednesday at 9pm CST will be removed from the game.
thursday will come with a new task for players to try out! don’t forget, our first task is open for anyone to try at any point in time.
over the course of the week, we’re going to post about two more shows on the main for further details - while we have a couple in mind, if there’s anything specific you’d like a post about, let us know!
monday is meme day, where we’ll encourage memes and reblogging to help with activity and muse!
tuesday and friday are acceptances and we’d love to bring in some new characters! all current members who respond to the activity check are welcome to bring in a second character if they’d like, but we’d love to have some more people as well. we have thirteen open spaces for you and your muse, so come check us out today!

i hope all ( americans ) are enjoying their holiday monday, and to everyone else, that the start of your week is going well ! the hoopla team has headed to the beach for the annual BBQ superlative picnic - mentioned here - where the staff ( including members of the food court & gift shops ) are welcome to relax on the sand, swim in the ocean, and eat tons of incredible catered burgers & hot dogs until they can’t move anymore. the BBQ also hosts the annual superlatives, filled with fun trophies, kooky titles, and winners in all areas. feel free to claim whatever title you want for your character if you want them to win something! and feel free to use this as a background for threads and headcanons for future interactions. it’s also our first monday here, which means it’s meme day! we’ve reblogged a couple onto our inspo blog, which we’ll do every monday, but feel free to reblog them onto your own accounts as well! send questions to your peers and keep your ask box open if you wish to receive asks yourself! tag all your answers as hooplaspam to keep it all in one location for easier perusing for outsiders as well as new and upcoming members! remember you can answer these when you receive them, or hold onto them and sprinkle them when muse is low and you just want to participate! ask headcanons, send starters, or even reblog creative memes - the opportunities are endless, and we can’t wait to see what everyone does!

award season.
every creator looks forward to one thing more than any other : awards and accolades of their hard work. web creators are no different, and while they may not be eligible for grammy’s or oscar’s, there are a number of top awards designed for content creators of the 21st century.
this spring, hoopla and it’s staff and productions have won a number of achievements, most notably ending with the most famous of them all: the webby award. hosted may 16th in new york, dixie lancaster and a few of the more public faces headed across the country to attend - and win - several awards for the company.
now, with memorial day weekend coming up, hoopla is hosting their own awards ceremony - a company picnic hosted every year, a superlative of sorts sent around to all members of the team no matter their department to vote for things like ‘best dressed’ ‘most kissable’ and ‘silliest concept’ for the past year.
emails went out today to collect their votes - whether employees campaign for their favorite category ( nominate me for ‘best side instagram!’ ) or just allow the fates of their notoriety be held on the shoulders of their peers, everyone’s buzzing about the party this upcoming monday.

interactions are officially open ! feel free to post open starters as paras / face to face interactions, or even as the ‘old fashion’ gif chats as messages back and forth through the office ! the opportunities are endless for you.
while we won’t have an official ‘ballot’ of superlatives, feel free to get creative ! new categories are offered every year, and it’s a time for the staff to get together and let loose, let their hair down, have fun together!
the actual party will take place on monday, may 30th, but will not be an event this time around, as there are still so few of us. however, you’re free to use it in your threads and plotting with other members of the staff !
