Rowe Family Ranch ♡

a spacious & rustic family ranch located in the rider's glen area.. i went for a darker wood and some green accents throughout the lot, using some items from the new ep also. a big inspiration behind the colour scheme of this build is from @farfallasims.. ms madi always has the dreamiest interiors and i was heavily inspired by her work..

The only times weddings were fun was when you knew the people there. Y/N was lucky she had met the bride—but that was only a handful of times. The bride was her friend, Cillian’s, cousin, and Y/N was simply there as his plus one, seeing as he couldn’t show up alone without his parents harassing him. Y/N didn’t mind, though—if it meant free food and an open bar at the reception, how could she possibly say no to that?

Summary: neither calum nor isabelle wanted to be a teacher’s assistant. more work, less pay, and no power; not the grad school experience either were hoping to have. but they’re roped into teaching intro to public speaking and are handed all the responsibilities that go along with it. students, grades, classes, faculty meetings; but at least they have each other, right?

Dr. Bennett blinks, momentarily surprised by Isabelle’s blunt refusal, before he tries to hide his smile as he leans back in his chair and places his full attention on the girl in front of him. He raises an eyebrow at her, amused by the seeming lack of grace in her answer, and waits as she shakes her head. He watches her fidget with her pen, watches her take a deep breath and attempt to gather her thoughts, before she lifts her head and meets his gaze.

“Sorry,” Isabelle adds, cheeks tinted pink with embarrassment at her outburst. “I just, I thought I made it clear when I came in that I didn’t want to teach,” she explains as she glances down at the bright green notebook on her lap. She stares at the cover, still unopened, before she lifts her head once more. “I haven’t fully decided if I want to get my Ph.D. and while I appreciate the offer, I like my current assistantship. I really enjoy planning and coordinating events, that’s more in line with what I want to do after graduation. I mean, I’m seriously considering going into nonprofit work instead of sticking with academia. It just seems like I’d be taking on a lot for something I’m not really sure of and I’m just wondering what I get out of teaching, you know?”

in where a girl needs food and visits her local 24hr grocery store and Calum just happens to be there at 1am.

HER MUSIC playing softly through her earbuds as she walked into her local grocery store in desperate need for snacks. Alex was sitting in her bed having a Marvel movie marathon with no-one but herself until she notice she didn’t have anything to eat. Alex was already into watching Iron Man 3, until she felt the craving for snacks, so her being her, she grabbed her coat, slipped on her dirty white converses and grabbed her keys and headed out into the crisp winter air of London to go to her local 24hr grocery store. Driving late at night was never Alex’s favorite, but she would risk it all for some snacks.

Walking through the store looking for the aisle she was in need search for, she took in the surroundings around her and notice that she was the only one in the store expect for the employees on they’re boring night shift. Humming along to the song playing on her phone, she found the aisle where the snacks were and look at the shelves to see what immediately draw her attention towards. 

Calum isn’t really up at 1am in his local grocery store, but this was an emergency. He was in dear need of food, one of his guilty pleasures, eating food late at night and since he really doesn’t sleep well, this was the opportunity to just go grab snacks and leave right? It wasn’t that hard for him to do. He walked into the store and he took in the stores appearance, no one in sight but just employees and security watching him, but apparently it wasn’t just him. He walked into the aisle where the snacks are and saw a petite girl, he took in her appearance, her hair up in somewhat of a messy bun, her grey sweatpants loosely fitted around her legs, a grey coat that somewhat made her seem a lil bit smaller than she is and notice the dirty white converses she was wearing. He also took in the look on her face as she was looking around for the snacks she wanted, her lip caught between her teeth and hands placed on her waist looking between the chips she looked like she was debated to get.

Alex was just staring at the cool ranch Doritos and the spicy nacho Doritos, which were both her favorite, but couldn’t decide which ones to get. It was like her mind was playing mind tricks on her telling her to get them both, but she knew if she did, there wouldn’t be any leftovers from both of the bags if she was being honest. She didn’t even feel the presence of someone in the aisle and near her as she is trying to decide. Calum just chuckled at the girl and notice her earbuds and can hear the music that was playing and it was familiar tone of Oh Calamity! by All Time Low, to which he knew every word of that song and would probably be killed if he didn’t know it since he is great friends with the band. Being in 5 Seconds of Summer had so many perks, being friends with musicians he has been fangirling for the longest of time, but being in the band mean’t so much more to him. Him and his three best friends got to go all over the world to places he never have thought of going to and also writing the best music to his fans. He loved his fans so much, it made him so happy that he can bring something to society that truly impacted someones life so much. 

Alex felt someone come up beside her and she immediately turn to see who it was and her breath got caught up in her throat. Her eyes went wide at the tall handsome boy standing right in front of her. She can see him his mouth moving, more like he was trying to talk to her. She immediately pulled her earbuds out of her ears and gave him a confused look. Calum saw her eyebrows furrowed at him and he repeated what he said, “I like the song you’re listening to. All time low right?” Calum mentally slapped himself and felt the heat rise up to his cheeks. He felt so dumb saying that to the pretty girl in front of him, he could have said something so much better. 

“Umm yeah,” She said with a slightly uncomfortable tone. She was thinking why is this tall handsome boy talking to her. He could have easily grabbed his stuff and left, but no there he is trying to talk to her. Her mind instantly went to the idea of him trying to kill her or something, but looking at him even more, the possibility of that happening was very slim. 

“Im sorry if i’m making you feel uncomfortable or something.” Calum brings his hand up to adjust his beanie on top of his head and looked at her as she smiled softly. “Um, no your good just surprised someone else is here at one in the morning.” Calum smiled at her and looked at the chips she has been staring at since he walked into the aisle.

“You know you can just get both right?” She quietly laughed and shook her head. “If I did, I think I wouldn’t have any left, if i’m being honest.” 

The look on her face definitely made Calum laugh because he didn’t think she was being serious, but she clearly was. He grabbed both of the chips and handed it to her. “Just get them, your gonna regret it if you don’t.” 

She holds the bag of chips in her arms and nodded at him and smiled. Calum noticed the dimples that came with that beautiful smile of hers and couldn’t seem to walk away from her, but her muttering a quiet thanks and walking away made him snap out of his thoughts and follow her along. He instantly forgot what he was even at the store for, but was instantly reminded as his stomach made the loudest growling noise in history. It definitely caught the small girls attention as she turned around and laughed at him. He feels the heat slowly rush up to his cheeks and looked up at her as he hears the fit of giggles coming out of her mouth. “Im guessing you’re just as hungry as I am huh?” She said with a smile on her face. 

Calum chuckled, “Eh I guess you heard that.” 

“Don’t worry, happens all the time. All you have to do is get food and may I suggest getting those Doritos or maybe something else?” She said to him and Calum was just in awe that this girl was still talking to him, and not even considering that he could be a murder. Calum nodded and looked at the rest of the aisle to see what this store can offer to him. He thought the girl who caught his interest left, but no their she is silently watching him make his decision, like it was some game show or something. Calum grabbed the sour cream and onion chips he saw and Chips Ahoy! Cookies he saw. The small girl notice the tall boys hands with the snacks in his hands. “Got what you wanted?”

Calum nodded, “Yep, what a man desires in life.” She giggled softly and Calum just wanted to hug her and keep her warm. She was the most adorable thing he has ever seen. Alex nodded and waved and said a quiet goodbye to him and started to walk away. Calum was upset that this little interaction between was over, even though it wasn’t even a full blown conversation, he was so drawn to the girl that he wanted more. He wanted to get to know her and why the sudden urge to just get snacks at one in the morning. 

Calum snapped back to reality and started to go after her. He mentally thanked his long legs that made him catch up to the girl immediately as she got up to the self-checkout section. Alex was tapping on the screen of the computer and scanning her items, until she felt the presence again. She looked up and saw the tall boy from the aisle with the loud stomach. She softly smiled him and Calum instantly return it back. Calum was mentally slapping himself for not saying anything to her, as he took the self-checkout register beside her. He desperately wanted to talk to her more, but what can you even say to a stranger? He didn’t even know her name in the first place, but he felt like he knew her for the longest time. Alex can feel the stare of the tall boy on her as she almost done with her transaction. She cursed under her breath as her ten dollar wouldn’t cooperate with her. She felt the tall boy come near her and saw him tap on her computer screen of the register.

“Hey what are you doing?” She says with a stern look on her face. He ignored because he knew if he told her what he was doing, she was probably gonna throw a fit. He kept ignoring her questions and pleas, as he use his debit card  and paid for her items. Alex with her eyes wide and mouth parted, she folded her arms together and looked at Calum with a pout. 

“You didn’t have to do you know, I could’ve paid for it for myself” Calum, taken back from the attitude she gave him, grabbed her bag from the register and handed it to her. “Well, I just did, what are you gonna do about it huh?”

Alex takes the bag and gave Calum a looked and cursed under her breath because she knew she couldn’t do nothing at all. She walked away from the tall boy and headed towards the exit. Pulling out her keys out of her pocket, she hears loud footsteps behind her. Calum wasn’t gonna let her go, he was determine to get her name at least. This probably made it seem like he was creep and was probably gonna scare her off, but he doubts it.

“Wait!” He says loud enough for her to hear him. She turns around and sees him running up to her. “Im really sorry, if i overstepped I just wanted to do something nice you know?” Alex sighed and looked up at Calum, “Its fine, but next time ask the girl before you make the grand gesture.”

Calum laughed and couldn’t stop smiling. “I mean, it was pretty romantic huh?” Now it was Alex’s turn to laugh and she playfully pushed him. She couldn’t stop smiling, proudly showing off her deep dimples, “You know I never got your name.” 

“Calum. Calum Hood. Yours?” 

“Alex. Alex Roberts.” She says and waits for his respond. He pulled his hand out of his pocket and put his hand out for a handshake. She notice the gesture and took his hand in her hand and could instantly feel how much of a hand difference there was between them. They held it like that for a couple minutes in silence, until he broke it. “I hope you don’t mind, but I really want to talk to you more, but not like this.” Alex giggled and let go of his hand. “Give me your phone Hood,” She says playfully. Calum smiled and it looked like it hurt because he smiling from to ear to ear. He pulled his phone out and handing it to her, but making sure it was unlocked for her to use. Alex grabbed his phone and started putting in her information, but Calum raised his eyebrows in confusion when he say her put his phone against her ear as she was making a phone call and then he heard a phone go off. He then realized that she was calling herself on her phone, so she could also have his number. Clever he thought and he wish he thought of that idea first. Alex pulled her phone out and declined the call, which made his phone go back to a number keypad screen. She looked back at him and handed his phone back. He thanked her and put his phone back into his pocket and then took out his keys. 

She realized that their little interaction has come to an end, but a happy ending since now they had each others numbers. They stood outside in the parking lot near car in complete silence until she broke it,“It’s getting late, I should be getting back home if I don’t wanna die from hypothermia and eat my snacks.” Calum softly chuckled and nodded his head, “Well, it was nice knowing you Roberts, expect me blowing up your phone later.” 

Alex gave him a playful smile, “Right back at ya Hood.” Calum already liked it when she called him by his last name. It easily rolled off her tongue and Alex could get use to it. Alex offered him a small wave and a quiet goodbye and Calum did the same. They went into different directions to get to their cars. As Calum got into his car, and turn it on and waited for his car to get warmed up, he thought if it was too soon to text her already, he just wanted to talk to her more. Alex who was already in her car waiting for it to get warmed up as well was thinking how long would it take for him to text her. Sure she didn’t want a text right away, but still she doesn’t give out her number to stranger unless that stranger was the cute tall handsome boy name Calum Hood who caught her interest immediately. Alex smiled to herself and was excited, but nervous of when Calum would text her. She sat in her car for a couple of more minutes until she decided for her to leave.

Calum looked to see if her car was still in the parking lot, he notice a car driving out of the parking lot and out into the streets of London. He smiled and waited until he got home to text because he for sure doesn’t want to be the cause of any accident if he texted her right now. Calum drove out of the parking lot and onto the streets of London with the excitement of texting her as soon as he got home.
