Please follow these steps to check and update your email address. If you don't know your password, or if your password is insecure, you will need to reset your password – which requires you to have access to your account's email address.
How do I check what my account’s email address is?
If you are logged in:
Go to your Preferences page (Select "Hi, [USERNAME]!" at the top of the page, and choose "My Preferences" from the drop-down list)
Click on the “Change Email” button at the top of the page
Your email address will be listed on that page, next to “Current email”
If you are not logged in:
Check your email account for recent emails from AO3, such as subscription notifications or kudos and comment emails.
Look at the “To:” field to see what email address is associated with your account.
You will need to enter this email address exactly as it is listed here in order to receive a password reset email.
How do I change my email address? What if I don't have access to my old email address?
You don't need access to your old email address to change it to a new one, as long as you also know your current password.
Log in
Go to your Preferences page (Select "Hi, [USERNAME]!" at the top of the page, and choose "My Preferences" from the drop-down list)
Click on the “Change Email” button at the top of the page
In both the “New email” and “Enter new email again” fields, enter an email address that you have access to
In the “Password” field, enter your current password
Click the “Confirm Email” button
On the next page, make sure that the banner displays the correct new email address
Click the "Yes, Confirm Email" button
Check your new email address for an email titled “[AO3] Confirm your email change”
Click on the confirmation link in that email, making sure to open it in a browser where you are already logged in
Go to the “Change Email” page and double-check that your “Current email” has been successfully updated.
If you still see the banner saying your email change is pending, the most likely reason for this is that you were logged out before you clicked the confirmation link. Make sure to log in to your account before following the email confirmation link, or open the link in a browser where you are already logged in.
I know my current password, but I'm afraid my password is insecure. How can I change my password to a stronger one?
First, refer to the above instructions for checking or updating your email address, so that you can receive a password reset in case your password is insecure. Then:
Log in
Go to your Preferences page (Select "Hi, [USERNAME]!" at the top of the page, and choose "My Preferences" from the drop-down list)
Click on the “Change Password” button at the top of the page
Enter your current password into the “Old password” field
Enter your new password into both the “New password” and “Confirm new password” fields
Click the “Change Password” button
You will be automatically logged out on all devices.
If, upon logging in, you receive a message saying your password is insecure, then the new password you chose was insecure and you can't use it to log back in. You will need to reset your password (refer to the below instructions) and select a more secure password this time. You can use a password generator to choose a stronger password.
I don't know my current password/my password is insecure, but I know and have access to my account's email address.
In a private/incognito browser, go to the Reset Password page: https://archiveofourown.org/users/password/new (also available by clicking the “Forgot Password?” link on the login form)
Enter the email address associated with your AO3 account
Check your email for the password reset email
Click the “use this link to create a new password” link in the email
Enter a new, secure password
You will be automatically logged in on this device, and automatically logged out on all other devices.
If you continue to receive the message that your password is insecure, then the new password you chose was also insecure. You will need to reset your password again and select a more secure password this time. You can use a password generator to choose a stronger password.
I tried resetting my password, but it didn't work. Help?
The most likely reasons the password reset didn't work are:
You are entering the wrong email address for your AO3 account. Refer to the above instructions on how to check what your account's email address is.
Your email provider is blocking emails from AO3 or sending them to spam/social folders. Search for an email titled “[AO3] Reset your password”.
Your email account doesn't have enough storage and can't receive new emails. You'll need to delete old emails, photos, or videos to empty your storage before requesting a password reset.
You requested multiple password resets in a short time period, resulting in either a “Retry later” page or the link in the first password reset email becoming invalid. Please wait at least one hour before trying again, only submit the form once, and make sure you are using the link in the most recent password reset email.
The new password you chose was insecure, so you can't use it to log back in. You will need to reset your password again and select a more secure password this time. You can use a password generator to choose a stronger password.
I don't know my password/my password is insecure, and I don't know or have access to my account's email address.
You will need to submit a Support ticket containing the following information:
your username
your account’s current email address (if you know it)
an email address that you can access and would like to update your account's email to (enter this email into the Email field so we can contact you)
Support will begin the account recovery process with you, which will ask you for further proof of account ownership. Please be patient, as there are many AO3 users who are also submitting account recovery tickets right now.

I have a question... I'm completely supportive, I promise, but I do wonder how polyamory is part of the queer community if being poly is a choice?
Hi there. I'm wondering where you got the idea its a choice. Many polyamorous people do not feel it was a choice for them, myself included. Some do, but you're speaking very definitively.
And, while I mean no offense to anyone asking this in good faith, it truly baffles me that people have a hard time grasping this concept with polyamory. Let me give you a metaphor.
Lets suppose I am dating someone. I enjoy their company, they mean a lot to me🥰, and I never want to hurt them. But something feels wrong about it to me. It takes me awhile to determine what feels "off," and in the meantime I do the best I can to be loving❤️ and treat them right. Eventually, I reach the conclusion I do not feel attraction to their gender. At this point I technically have a choice: I can continue the relationship and accept I will never be fully happy, or I can leave them to date someone of the gender I'm attracted to. I have a choice, but my sexuality isn't it. You understand this.

My sexuality of being bi was personally much easier to accept than my being polyamorous. The process was much the same, but it took me an additional... 8 years or so bwtween saying "I'm bi" and saying "I'm poly". I am currently much more scared to tell people (and banks and jobs and-) I'm poly than that I'm bi.
But broader than that. "Queer" being narrowly defined benefits the non-queers more than the LGBTQIA2S+ [pick your acronym inclusions]. "No hets at pride" and "no kink at pride" people have done me way more harm as a bisexual than... "straight" poly people, or people of no defined sexuality in pup masks, or generally seeing anyone I didn't think should be there. Let our proclaimed friends be friends, the better to break bread and take up arms with.🏳️🌈
And like, I don' like to prescribe definitions of words, but "Straight" comes from "straight and narrow" from the Bible. And like. I don't think many Christians (mormons excluded) would think polyamory is the path to heaven👼, because even when we're "straight", we sure as fuck aren't "narrow!" We're spreading our love far and wide!
As a fellow poly, I'll offer another perspective and explanation: I'll use the ask's exact wording. "I do wonder how polyamory is part of the queer community if poly is a choice" let's go with that if for just a moment. If it is a choice, like a choice to transition or a choice to present or a choice to stay in the closet, are those not also parts of the queer experience? If it is a choice, it is certainly not a choice that is recognized with the same validity or normalcy as hetero- allo- cis- it isn't one of the options on nay government paperwork I have ever seen, and if a husband is found to have taken more than one wife in the U.S. it is something that can get him arrested. If a wife is found to have multiple husbands will that choice be respected and recognized at all social functions? Strangely I have only heard of people bringing a "plus 1" not 2 or 3.
I didn't think of myself as being queer, even though I have known I am poly for more than a decade, because it was so easy to pass. But a couple of years ago I was suddenly single and I tried out all of the various online dating apps. Sure, they let me list it as an option now (mostly) but the number of folks who are very loudly oppossed to the very idea of a conversation with me about it the minute they see it on my profile made me start to recognize some small amount of marginalization. More matches disappeared and unmatched specifically after me mentioning it than any other dealbreaker that got discussed.
So, let me genuinely and earnestly ask this to the asker: if poly doesn't belong with the queer community, where do we belong? Queer is "out of the ordinary" or "different" and I am pretty sure that poly is not exactly the socially accepted mainstream-norm, or at least it certainly hasn't been in my lived experience.

Its TIME for Part FIVE of the Pokedex TCG redraw collab!!
I have a lofty goal to complete the entire Pokedex through TCG redraws! Every Pokemon, every form! And I’ll need YOUR help to do it!
We’re moving on to UNOVA, and everyone is going to pick Pokemon from a spreadsheet!
Some ground rules first:
Absolutely NO “AI” IMAGES ALLOWED. Anything I suspect of being AI will not go into the queue.
Post your submissions here on tumblr as soon as you finish them! Use the tag #poketcgunova so I can find everything in one place! It also helps to @ this blog.
There will be a check-in due on August 31st! If your submission is not posted by then but you want to keep your spot, DM me by that time with a check-in! You do not need to have any progress done, this is just a notice for me that you’re still planning on participating! If you do not check in with me and your entry is not posted, I will be wiping the remaining names from the sheet and opening submissions again. The final deadline will be September 30th, 2026

You can use any medium you want! Photography, 3D, digital, traditional, clay, Lego, fiber, the limit is your own creativity!
You can change the card to be a shiny form if you want! Otherwise I’d prefer the designs stay within canon (An exception would be an old canon design of the Pokemon, like something based off old Gameboy sprites)
There is no application for entry!! Pick a Pokemon and draw it and have fun!
All official cards are okay (Including TCG Pocket)! All full arts are okay! Any skill level is okay!
You do not have to make a full formatted card! Just the illustration is perfect!
Some Mega Evolutions don’t have cards! Any submissions of Megas and Gigantamaxes have permission to redraw a regular card as the Mega or Giga form!

In case you weren't aware, the goal of a boycott is to significantly impact the bottom line of a business to pressure it into stopping some specific harmful behavior.
This means that a disorganized "don't support this" with no clear timeframe, no clear demand being put forward, and no organized effort to reach the actual customers of the business... is pretty unlikely to achieve anything.
"Boycotts never achieve anything" factoid is actually a statistical error. Historically, boycotts have been an enormously successful pressure mechanism for collective action. Boycotts georg, a social media user who launches a million poorly strategized boycotts every day with no thought given to target selection or actionable demands, is an outlier adn should not have been counted.
