UNTANGLING THE WHISPERNOSE FAMILY TREE AT LAST! we've fleshed out the trio of sunclan's deadbeat dads.
(FULL EXPLINATION BENEATH CUT BC IT GOT LONGER THAN I EXPECTED LOL)
SO. BASICALLY. whispernose has had three mates throughout her life, the first being yellowbelly. He is a bumbling, well meaning warrior who is MADLY in love with whispernose. they have tumbleweed (later bravestar), goosecall, rushpool and newtflower (bravestars 3 new sisters yay! more on them in a sec).
HOWEVER... whispernose realizes part way through her life with yellowbelly that... shes wasting her life away. none of her kits show promise to be a very significant member of sunclan and her husband is a LOSER! MID LIFE CRISIS BREKADOWN! so she breaks up with him and moves on to duststrike, a very serious, very battle ready warrior who she thinks will bare her kits with a lasting legacy, as she finds him strong and capable. she has mudstep and hayfever with him, who turn out to be... slight disappointments to them both, being quite timid kits.
AT THIS TIME... (then) tumblepaw, with a freshly divorced dad, three sisters and a doting mother who was so disappointed in him that she left their family for another mate and kits..... is radicalized. in a very bad way. LOL. he locks in making his life goal to become leader to impress his mother. he eventually becomes deputy, winning back whispernose's affection/admiration, especially after hayfever leaves for dimclan and mudstep is..... still pretty mid.
LATER ON DOWN THE LINE... tumbleweed becomes leader, changes his name to bravestar to PROVE he is better than his father and his siblings, and whispernose is proud of him. meanwhile, she has a fling with smokecloud, a quiet, kind of mysterious warrior who is known to have a slight temper. she has sootkit as a senior warrior, and unable to produce milk for him. so she kind of hands him off to hazelshell who is currently nursing her own kits.
in light of whispernose/smokeclouds lowkey neglect of sootkit, goosecall, rushpool and newtflower (bravestar's littermates as u might recall) take it upon themselves to be present in his lives as cool aunties that try to give him a normal childhood. theyre all awesome and want to be their for their siblings as much as possible, but given how complicated and fucked up their family is, theres really only so much they can try to fix. hayfever still misses them, as she was close with all three of them while she was still in sunclan.
also, throughout pretty much this whole timeline, yellowbelly is still convinced he can get back with whispernose. he is STILL in love with her even in the present day. his daughters love him but are still actively trying to convince him to move on. chudstar wants him out of his life like bad.
OK. THATS ALL I THINK. the whole forest knows about their increasingly complicated family and its become somewhat of a gathering topic lol.

queeeeeestion. What is your opinion on the "Wasia" discourse right now? As someone considered Wasian, I feel very caught in the middle of it.
I'm being told that even using the label is not deconstructing my whiteness, but I feel like I'm lying to myself if I just said I was Asian... It's not like I don't appreciate my Vietnamese half, it's just that I believe acknowledging my privilege from being half white is what feels right to me, and that by claiming I'm just Asian, I'm being untruthful.
I think a lot of the critics of the Wasian community are INCREDIBLY valid, there are a lot of issues definitely have to do with colorism and upholding a harmful racial hierarchy, but I would like to hear from more people about it!
I reference the Elliot Sang video a lot because he's Wasian himself and it does a pretty good job of breaking down the discourse surrounding the "Wasian discourse," if that is what you wanna call it. Now, I am not Wasian so it's not up to me to me to tell you how to feel about your identity. Some people find labels limiting, but I love labels tbh, and this extends into other facets of my life or identity such as sexuality. They're very clear and tell you what you actually want to know very succinctly. That's satisfying to me personally, but that's not the case for everyone. I also don't think every Wasian hates themselves or their culture, it's more of an interpersonal pattern that has been pretty frequently observed, at the very least, online. I don't think calling yourself Asian means you're lying because you are, but I get that from the flip side, calling yourself white doesn't deliver the entire picture. I think something the video does a good job of acknowledging is that because Asian and Wasian struggles aren't necessarily mutually exclusive but trying to represent them as such is kind of untruthful and is often used as an excuse to go back to superficially discussing Wasians in relation to aesthetics. But I also want to leave this post open-ended for Wasians to share their own thoughts!
