i'm genuinely at a loss for words as to what to say. we are on the second to last day of raising money for ammar's injection for the upcoming week, and we didn't even raise enough for the immune globulin injection last week, let alone anything else
the only reason ammar is still alive right now is because a doctor took pity on him and bought him the injection before we raised enough money. the extended delays made ammar have his first seizure.
israel has also been bombing the hospital again, photos on this post - and their planes + drones are still circling the hospital now, threatening to shoot people. ammar, samah, and mahmoud are all outside in the courtyard and will be immediately wounded if they do so
we need to raise $1471 by tuesday 4 pm at gazan time, which is roughly about 50 hours from now. this is for his food, as well as his injection, and the iv fluids. this is now the bare minimum required to be urgently raised
if he doesn't get this by tuesday, he would need an intensive injection that costs $6k+ total alongside the fact he would need extra medicine and this original injection too
i have nothing else to say. donate as little as $3 or $5 for him, or you'll be letting him die. this is extremely time sensitive.
thank you to the people who generously donated, but we only raised $30 today
though the immune globulin injection is not yet delayed, the most pressing issue is that israel is still bombing the hospital
here is a video that samah provided from the latest news reporters, there continue to be airstrikes and the israeli planes have not stopped flying over the hospital
$1483 is still needed to be raised total, $1107 of which will be for ammar's immune globulin injection (and paying for the remainder of last week's iv fluids)
WE NEED THIS AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE SO THEY CAN EVACUATE
THE LONGER THEY STAY AT THIS HOSPITAL, THE MORE THEY RISK DEATH
THE HOSPITAL HAS ALREADY BEEN BOMBED WHILE THEY WERE HERE. THEY WERE LUCKY TO SURVIVE
please take this seriously and donate as much or as little as you can, but donate and encourage all your friends to donate even a small amount if possible - even $3 or $5 helps, because it will build up, but it requires many people to help
the immune globulin injection needs to be taken before 10 am wednesday gaza time, about 20 hours from now, but i am begging you not to wait until then.
ammar's birthday will also be on thursday, if that can additionally move you. please let him return home to celebrate it, instead of being forced to stay in a hospital courtyard, where he might die before he manages to reach that date.
thank you for the donations, but we need many, many more people to help.
please, $1403 more is still needed total, $1027 of which is for the immune globulin injection - i really hope we can get this by 10 am gaza time so that it won't be late, and so that they can go home quickly
ammar's birthday is tomorrow. please don't make him have it at a hospital courtyard where iof drones are threatening to shoot him

coming to the end of my ff13 playthrough and its been a lot of fun!
I'll try and keep it brief but
I stand by the battle system being a lot of fun. Flawed, but good. I like the way it's approached, too. Ik ppl have complaints about how often your team gets split up but I liked it personally. This game has a lot of fun weaving little puzzles into its battle based on whatever limited toolset you have at any given time. They're interesting on their own but also help to slow boil you into the (admittedly kinda confusing) paradigm system. The later part of the game drops this which I thought was kind of a shame tbh.
Really, the thing that ff13 is missing is character time. Time which might've been filled out by towns and more intermittent cutscenes (esp optional ones, like w the cactuar). I saw someone suggest camping, and camping is like the absolute perfect solution to this. They literally have a campsite in the media! you fight Alexander there! I think these guys have a lot to talk about. You can see that they grow to like each other a lot, so it's a shame that you see so little outside of action scenes and a couple more intense character beats. (Funnily enough this also makes this game absolutely perfect for fanfiction. missing scenes abounding.)
Speaking of cutscenes, the cgi movies in this game still look fucking great. I've mentioned some of the choreography (do you use that term in this situation? idk) before, like the insanity of the fall-to-pulse cutscene. Completely over the top and ridiculous, and I lap it up every time. Everything looks so pretty too, It's shiny and smooth, but not plasticky, yk? You can tell that they were really gunning for a kind of semi-realism in that way that things were in the 00's and 10's. Because the technology to do it seemed so close, but proper execution was, and still is, its own separate feat. I think they stuck the landing. But a lot of that might also be because of
The art direction. One of the main reasons I picked up 13 specifically is because I have incredibly strong memories of that games visual style. My mom is a big ff fan, and she played it (and the sequels) when I was young. And even after that, we had the collector's edition guide book kicking around that I would spend ages flipping through, looking at the art. It's a great mix of aero and grungier sci-fi aesthetics, again leaning into that semi-realism that new technology was allowing. The menus have this weird, ethereal water/magic stuff going on, the cities have a mirrors edge-like gleam to them, but this is a ff game, so you are inevitably thrown into a huge scrap heap, ancient ruins surrounded by a dense jungle, battles with crazy, tattooed monsters. It's chic and cool, and also childish and bizarre in equal measure.
The character designs are insane and kind of all over the place. I like the mains for the most part but (besides the women being hot) I don't have anything too specific to say about them atm. I would like to mention that I like Lightning's face sculpt a lot. She's got kind of a bigger nose, pointy ears, a very strong jawline. Some of that might be her origins as r64 cloud, but it lends her a handsomeness that I think is cool. I don't like how they did her face in duellem lowkey. in a similar vein they made serah's nose smaller in 2 and I cannot abide that.
I like these guys a lot also. There's a lot of problems, especially concerning race in this game, but in general I just like these guys. They're weirdos. They're too much, too hammy or ridiculous but in a way where, when the story has to shut up and do drama, kinda just endears you to them more. Everyone is incredibly serious and incredibly unserious. Hope is an excellent example, I love all of these guys but he's the funniest and easiest to explain. He's got a lot of shit going on that makes him behave the way he does, but ultimately the joke of his character is in his name, because he's very conflicted and struggling. But it's not just that he's hope-less, he's completely out of his gourd. He wants to kill a man who was in proximity to his mother when she died. He wants to kill that guy so bad the only thing that stops him is getting fucking blown up. He is seemingly compelled by the idea of being honed into a killing machine inside a weird, ancient, subterranean barracks full of monsters. That's after Lightning tells him to chill the fuck out. He gets hurt one time while carrying coconuts and is so off put by being taken care of that he summons a giant robot god monster. Just the absolute most 14-years-old anyone has ever been, which genuinely makes him endearing in those moments where he finds stability and pets chocobos n shit. incredibly serious and incredibly unserious. i could write a dissertation like this for all 6 of the major characters in this game but I will spare you.
Segway. it's a little sad to see it end! And it really is sad, because for me, I feel like there's so much of this world still untouched. Gran Pulse for one, which we'll probably never get to see in its prime. What did life in Oerba look like, what were Lightning's parents like, what is Sazh's life gonna look like when he finally has a support system and can live happily with his kid goddamnit? I plan to read chapter 0 for the fun of it, but i don't plan to play the rest of the series. I like serah, I like lightning, the other guys show up too (to mixed results) but I don't think the sequels show off more of these characters in the ways that I'm interested in seeing them. I really, really don't want to sound pretentious, but maybe I am pretentious. I found the worldbuilding and general turmoil and interwoven personal conflicts in 13 to be the big draw for me story wise, not like... watching Lightning get thrown around through the most insane scenarios imaginable. I mean she's sick, don't get me wrong, i don't not want her to be a jesus-knight saving the universe, good for her. I was just most engaged when she was being a weird asshole who was so emotionally backed up that just seeing her transition from verbal handwaving to a reserved, serious "thank you" while being helped in battle felt like an achievement. I dunno. I can be convinced, I guess. I haven't played them and know very little besides little snippets here and there, like snow's boss fight and whatever. Maybe they're great. Regardless, I have other games to play (it's between nier and mirrors edge atm) and I'd like to get to those first.
It's been fun. This game has followed me into adulthood and will now be firmly implanted in my brain forever. all because Lightning unlocked my passion for mean women in positions of authority before I even knew what a lesbian was.
Fang is the greatest of all time and if I had any control over anything she would be a ff headliner like tifa ff7. that's all.

When the topic becomes about racism between children you very quickly realise children of colour aren't seen as children but as some other thing that should just take the abuse and then forgive the Real White Children because they didn't know better. They don't understand it but children of colour can and will very early in their youth.
i think the luckiest moment of my life - at least, the luckiest moment i'm aware of & can remember - was when i poured HOURS of wrist-grinding labor into nålbinding baby socks with no pattern & vague measurements pirated off a machine-made baby sock, and they turned out weirdly long and skinny. and then the baby was born with such weirdly long and skinny feet that the only socks that fit him were the ones i made. what a very specific little lottery to win.
Israel's attacks have been relentless since the eve of Eid al-Adha on Tuesday, May 26. Just yesterday the head of anesthesia at Al-Yafa Medical Hospital was killed in an attack that injured three others. Over 50% of hospitals in Gaza are nonfunctional. Even when Palestinians survive attacks, treatment is limited and medical bills are expensive.
This targeting of healthcare workers and infrastructure is the reason my friend Fadel needs to raise funds for medical evacuation to a hospital outside of Gaza to surgically remove shrapnel that embedded in his body during the Israeli airstrike that destroyed his home while he was inside.
Fadel (@fadel-dani) is currently struggling to afford his hospital bills. He is being treated for severe anemia and malnutrition as a result of long term food insecurity and being unable to afford his monthly medication to treat his blood disorder. He suffers from frequent fainting and collapses unconscious, leaving his family terrified that he has died from starvation. Please help him.
