part 1
Gojo introduced his three students to her. One of them she immediately recognised. Ecstasy filled her eyes as she pulled the dark-haired boy into a tight hug. He tried acting nonchalant, knowing it caught him off guard, and he was happy seeing her too. The brown-haired girl made it clear that she was excited about meeting Y/n and shook her hand aggressively.
“So…” Yuji Itadori clasped his hands before continuing, “…are you two together?”
Nobara nudged him with her elbow and he just looked at her with a big pout. He knew she was curious too.
“Oh god no!” Y/n shot back in an instant.
Gojo dramatically clutched his chest in mock offense.
“Oh, wow, I’m still your little secret?” he pouted before bursting out in laughter.
“Not funny!” you replied.
“You should’ve seen ya face,” Gojo flailed his arms around, still laughing uncontrollably.
The three students were more than confused as Y/n started smacking his arm and pulling on his uniform. How was she this comfortable with him, if he’s just an “old friend”? Y/n wished she could smack that smug grin right off his ridiculously handsome face, but she could barely reach his shoulder. Why did he have to be this tall?
As an apology, Gojo invited her out for dinner so they could catch up. He wanted to hear about her life and, naturally, brag about his own.
He was quick to call Ijichi so that he could pick the teenagers up while he went out for dinner with his old friend.
“We’re going to see you again, right, miss?” Yuji asked and Y/n couldn’t look into his adorable face and disappoint him with a simple no.
“I’m sure you will!” her voice sounded more convinced than she actually was.
⸻
Gojo brought you to the dinner date. It was in a refined restaurant. The guests were all dressed in classy dresses and suits. Y/n felt a little uncomfortable and out of place. The restaurant had bright lights with jazz playing in the background. Expensive colognes lingered in the air, as well as the smell of champagne. That’s when she realised just how rich Gojo Satoru really was.
The server guided them to a table next to the window in a rather calmer spot. Y/n sat down across from Gojo and faced him. He still wore that ridiculous blindfold, and she silently wished he would take it off for just a second to reveal his mesmerizing eyes she hasn’t seen since god knows when.
“You’re staring,” he smirked teasingly at her.
She hastily turned her head away. “No, I’m not!”
“You totally are,” he chuckled now. “So how is your life as an ex-sorcerer? You doing okay?”
“Please don’t call it that, and yeah, I’m fine.”
She was definitely not doing fine. Life was throwing curveballs at her and she felt like a huge joke. But she still managed to force a small smile.
“You know you can tell me the truth. I know when you’re lying. You’re my friend.” His smirk turned into a soft, knowing smile.
“Work is kinda rough, and the people there are really something.”
Normally it was hard for her to open up and vent about these types of problems, but with him everything was so natural.
⸻
Time passed as Gojo listened to her problems. But Gojo always found a way to make her laugh, changing the topic after hearing her out and giving advice. He didn’t interrupt. He just leaned back slightly, listening with an unusually soft expression.
Gradually the conversation slowly shifted into something more casual.
The food was amazing and the conversation went on for hours. Gojo talked about his newest student who ate one of Sukuna’s fingers. Y/n was shocked to hear that the sweet-looking guy really swallowed the finger of a 1000+ year old curse.
⸻
After finishing dinner, he walked her to the train station. It was dark outside and the air was quite cool.
“Give me your phone, I’ll dial in my phone number.”
“Oh, right,” she brought her phone out of her bag and placed it into his hand. “I hope you know that I had to change my number back then.”
“No worries. I definitely didn’t think you hated me and blocked me or anything,” he quipped.
Guilt gnawed at her because she never reached out to him in all these years.
“I’m sorry.” Guilt twisted in her stomach as she looked away.
Gojo scratched the nape of his neck, regretting his choice of words. “It’s alright. I’m sure you had your reasons. Besides, you’re here now, aren’t you?”
Y/n smiled at him a little awkwardly.
He didn’t want to make her feel bad about the situation. It was in the past and he understood why she chose to leave.
When the train arrived, Y/N stepped forward. Just as she was about to board, Gojo gently caught her wrist, stopping her in her tracks.
“I missed you, Y/n.”
Y/N froze, caught off guard by both his actions and his words. He had acted so casual the entire evening.
“I missed you too, Satoru.”
