Cubs bandwagon is ready to hit the road
It’s been real hard for me as a fan to find much to complain about in Cubdom the past few seasons. That’s probably one of the reasons you don’t see me writing much. I’m guilty as charged for being a Theo Epstein fanboy and I’ll make no apologies for that. Yeah the performance on the feel left something to be desired, but the stockpiling of talent in the minor leagues was undeniable. Different from Cubs regimes of the past all the hope wasn’t projected to one or two prospects, the Cubs have a quantity and that’s something I can’t recall. Bringing up waves and waves of prospects is every teams goals. The Cubs are in the midst of one of those waves.
It began last summer with Alcantarra, Baez and Soler. Now Bryant and Russell. In the meantime Theo and Jed have added some veteran pieces and the perfect manager for this team. Suddenly the Cubs are fun again. I’ve been to three games this season and the vibe is back at the ballpark. People in Wrigleyville have smiles on their faces. This season isn’t a march to a top five draft pick. It’s a season full of hope and aspirations for October baseball.
The approach taken by Tom Ricketts has not always been the easy one, but the fact that he was willing to wait out the roofers and wait for Theo and Jed’s plan to take effect should be acknowledged, if not applauded.
So with the new bleachers going up and a Jumbotron “out in left field” the Cubs are relevant again. If you haven’t paid attention to these kids coming up, who could blame you? If you have, you know the treat we are in store for. Get on the bandwagon Cubs fans, now is the time. I have no idea how this ride ends but I’m sure as hell gonna to enjoy it.
