It’s so tempting, so deceptive and enticing to want to go back to when she was just a tiny bundle of love, to dream of doing it all again with another baby, especially in moments like this when one of my close friends is about to feel the dear tender newness of a newborn, and the tiny rosebud mouth on her breast, and the overwhelming joy and intensity that comes with the smallness. But we cannot ever go back, and the truth is so much more complicated and challenging than our bittersweet memories of when they were so itty bitty. For me, the question of a second one is a question where time is of the essence, and yet, I know the answer has to come from some other place than looking back, reminiscing, romanticizing. And so even with the days and months and viable eggs ticking by, I sit in the question of it and treasure the opportunity to snuggle other mama’s teeny babes, as well as allowing in the full blazing sunshine of who Brie is now in her sassy, outspoken, creative toddlerhood. 🧡 #mamalife #mamawitchandbabywitch #doulalove (at Kentfield, California)
