What a freaking beautiful day it is today. Plenty of clouds but plenty of sun and warmth for the first time in forever.
Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die (2025)
Just when I was starting to think they are incapable of making good movies anymore.
As the main character keeps saying, it's a mindfuck.
It's a science fiction comedy about a guy who comes from the future to try and create a different future- think Skynet from The Terminator.
It's a wild ride and although I would have preferred a different ending I thoroughly enjoyed this rollercoaster of a movie.
I really don't know if I would recommend this because it's just so strange, so view at your own risk.
Four out of five spinning triangles.
Happy Aphex Twin day everybody

We went from one of the driest states to one of the wettest.
Cuban Fury (2014)
A cute little romantic comedy starring Nick Frost (who also co-wrote). Chris O'Dowd provides some laughs as the cruel coworker who becomes our hero's rival. Rasheda Jones is the love interest of both.
Just a fun little frothy bit of fun with some Latin beats.
Recommended if you like romcoms and watching people dance (although you rarely see their feet).
Kinda feels like we're on holiday like my tumblr name. Like the time I was on vacation in Texas in August, close to the first time I made this blog.
We're not in Texas anymore. We had to move. Away from some family, up here to be closer to other family.
We'll both miss Texas a lot. It was a great place to live and I love the people of Texas (well most of them). It kinda breaks my heart to leave after 10 years.
We hope to bring some of Texas to our new state.
The Girl With all the Gifts (20--)
Booooooooooo
Absolutely nope!

It was supposed to be stormy and grey for days straight, but today it was fine actually. Mostly cloudy but bright sun, warm and the afternoon was dry.

It's a very rainy day here in DFW. Streets look like very shallow rivers. It looks like we're past winter but not quite at spring yet- although I did see a flowering tree in bloom.
Twlight Zone: The Movie
An anthology movie split into four parts.
The first one is such complete heavyhanded drivel I don't know if it deserves discussing.
#2 fares better, being a lighthearted vignette of old people who find a new lease on life.
#3 takes an idea from the original TV Show and adds new life to it, with some great creature effects/ animation and an ending that I liked, although it was slight.
#4 is probably the best, starring the incomparable John Lithgow, who really acts his brains out on this delightful gremlin-y tale.
The framing scenes with Dan Akroyd are fun as well.
Alien: Romulus (2024)
I'm disappointed. I expected better from an Alien movie, especially one produced by Ridley Scott. The protagonist isn't likable. She seems to want to help her friend Andy the android. I liked Andy.
I disliked the two english "bruvvers" whose thick accent made them at times incomprehensible.
The rest of the crew- who cares?
All of this has been done far, far, far better by much, much better actors with better scripts, better dialogue, better pacing, better sense of when to just END the movie already.
It's a decent action flick. It's just completely overblown, the actors are mediocre, the characters aren't compelling enough, and it's so ridiculous you won't care what happens to anyone.

Well we've finally had our first taste of truly wintry weather here in North Texas. It's cold today- in the 40s, and it just got down to freezing for the first time a day or so ago.
In southern Ontario they've had a snowier than usual winter, and also much, much grayer.
Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992?)
I hadn't seen this movie in a long time and thought I'd watch it again. And, well, I didn't like it.
I've enjoyed a share of Dracula movies, but I found the book offputting, and this one does hew closer to the novel, apparently.
The visual style is the reason to see this movie, at least once. It makes use of very interesting backgrounds from miniatures and stagey sets to lots of light and shadows, lots of scenes of writhing women, many with exposed breasts.
Dracula's castle, the use of dark red colour against the snow in the final scene is beautiful.
And all in all this is a beautiful movie.
It's also pretty boring. Very little happens, and yet there are lots of scenes with blood spatter, but the violence never feels truly scary, and plenty happens offscreen. However, if you're into decapitation, pal, you're in luck.
Winona Ryder is a beautiful and engaging actress, but the forced accent really hurts her in this picture. I always felt like I was straining to hear her.
Anthony Hopkins was really hamming it up, but at least he provided some entertainment.
The rest of the cast was fine.
I just didn't like the movie and I don't like the story.
