Any correction on here can’t ever be made without being called an apologist of a patriarchal religion. Because the easy answer is always just “Islam bad” so spreading misinformation is fine or “Muslim women oppressed” so “hijab is my choice” is wrong because there are women being forced, instead of “hijab is my choice” is wrong because this choice is coerced through a patriarchal religion.

Some “radfems” on here love to make snide comments and remarks that paint the Middle East and Africa as a monolith and claim to be calling out misogyny while speaking over women from these places instead of listening and amplifying those women’s voices. Curiously, there is never any discussion about solutions or how to help feminist activists in these places.

When I first started circulating on radblr I was happy that radfems called out the misogyny of the word “Karen” or the constant scapegoating of “white women” in any discussion of racial conflicts.

But I find it odd that the recognition of misogyny across the world as being linked by a single thread is now “wrong” because you’re making “false comparisons.”

I’m suddenly supposed to feel grateful that I’m not a stereotypical Muslim girl in a village wearing hijab under threat of being beaten. The trauma of constant exposure to the pornified female body since childhood in the West (and my own personal traumas resulting from that) is dismissed because somewhere in a brown country there’s another brown woman who had it worse than me.

My experience and isolation as a woman who will always be treated differently because of my name and the color of my skin is completely dismissed.

So many on here act like believing in radical feminism or being radical-leaning equates to some sort of enlightenment that racism no longer exists because it’s just that thing black and brown men use to target white women. There seems to be this belief that being a true feminist means erasing race as a meaningful factor in the oppression I face as a woman simply because it pales in comparison to what nonwhite women face around the world.

The point of this rant is not to accuse radblr of “being racist.” But to call on all of you to take note of what you are seeing. What is the true purpose of this comment? Is this person showing the same treatment for misogyny in white countries?

Hello, my name is Waseem Abusafi from Gaza-Palestine. and I am 34 years old, I have a 3-year-old son named Qais, and my wife Amal Asqoul is 27 years old. I worked in the field of accounting for companies and institutions for 12 years. My wife worked as a psychologist in international organizations.

The recent war has turned our lives upside down 💔. Our area, infrastructure, and entire community were destroyed 🥲. We lost many family members, most dearly my eldest and youngest aunts, along with their children and grandchildren, in an airstrike at the same time and place. They were innocent civilians with no connection to the war. We were forced to relocate from northern Gaza to the south, and have been displaced multiple times in search of safety.

What did my child Qais do to deserve starting his life between the alleys of a tent in extreme heat? There is no water, electricity, food, or medicine. We are barely surviving, and it's extremely difficult 💔🇵🇸. The place where we live houses 2 million displaced people in an area of just 5 square kilometers.

Despite the immense grief and loss, we are determined to protect our son and rebuild our lives. We need your help to evacuate to Egypt and start anew. 🙏🏼
