seemingly everyone on my mom's side of the family has an issue where you say "I'm gonna go over here now" and they say okay and then they just keep talking to you like you're still within earshot and then when you go "what?! I'm over here now! i can't hear you!" they're surprised and annoyed

not excluding myself here btw. i regularly hear alice say she's going outside, do not process it whatsoever, and continue talking into the kitchen like she's there
