Orion knew better than to touch someone’s dog- especially a very large, somewhat drooly looking one. But he’d been walking Jupiter, a senior cocker spaniel who was dwarfed in size by Alpha, and he’d immediately seen another dog and gone sniffing. The 6′7″ paramedic was off duty but still in his uniform, seated on a bench with a hot coffee. He’d wanted to drop onto his bed and pass out… but Jupiter needed a walk. The thing was, the old dog preferred to sniff and take his time. So Orion had grabbed a coffee, taken a seat, and let the old timer sniff. When he got a little too close to a bigger dog, he’d gotten up, walked over to pull him back a bit… and heard a growl from the dog.
The almost smug comment from the other man had Orion raising his eyebrows- this weird, thinly veiled threat about his dog being violent… that didn’t sit right with him. “Well… sorry about Jupiter. I was just trying to pull him back- he’s just old and friendly.” Jupiter was mostly unbothered, but Orion was.. unsettled. A bit. “I would say, though, that if your dog is violent enough to rip someone’s arm off, maybe you should use one of the soft muzzles. I had one on my old dog who wasn’t particularly friendly with other dogs… you know. To keep people safe. And other animals.”Â
For a moment Icarus stood there, bored eyes almost glazing over as the apparent oaf across from him droned on about muzzles and safety and things that Icarus quite frankly could not be bothered to give two shits about. Despite the plain uninterested blankness of his chiseled features, a thin veil of irritation was beginning to wrap its way around himself. “If people are uninterested in being harmed, perhaps they should learn to keep their hands, as well as their opinions, to themselves.” The tone of his words remained the same: steady and even, giving nothing away. Not the irritation nor the desire to let his beloved beast loose on the poor sod across from him who thought it pertinent that Icarus be educated.Â
“For the sake of time let me be very clear. What my dear beastie did was merely a warning to others to keep away. The only way Alpha is going to cause anyone loss of limb, is if I ask him to.” A dark craving itched beneath his skin. All it would take was one word, a small cue, and the large man would be flat on his back, a large drooling beast slobbering to get at his neck. It was an image that Icarus relished in, but one he would unfortunately not be able to live out. This was often the case. What his dark, depraved side of him craved, his rational side put to bed. Going over the thousands of ways upon which such an act could go wrong. Even going as far to explain to himself internally why it was wrong. It was a real damper. With a sigh, Icarus’s eyes flicked up to meet the taller man’s, brows rising just slightly. “I would like to take a moment to remind you, that your dog is the one at large. Were something to happen, it would, unfortunately, be your poor little pooch that was at fault.” A brief smirk curled it’s way up his lip. “Now, are we done here?”
