Misery loves company (Reth x Deppressed!Reader)
Reth isn't short of his own issues. He overthinks and often stumbles over his emotions, causing him to get stressed and quite saddened at times.
Despite all of this, he is a very sweet partner. He is sure to check in constantly, be there for you no matter the circumstance, and always bring a level of patience with him when he is helping you with anything.
Even if you've been in a relationship for awhile, he is still insecure that he isn't enough for you.
He often asks you, "You're aware there are other handsome rogues out there, right?" And tells you that "You cant exactly... settle down right now with me."
Of course you tell him, yes you know but you want him, and yes, you dont need to settle right this second if it wouldn't be safe for either of you.
He only stopped making those comments about himself when he noticed you making those own comments about yourself, and how upset it made him.
It may have taken you a while to say something along the lines of, "There are people who are more willing to help with you," or "Some of the other humans have more gold. It could help with the cartel."
Even if nothing was said outright, be hated the implication. Reth didnt care about the other humans like that, and you knew that. He told you as such everytime you brought it up!
It isnt until Reth asks you straight if you dont wish to be with him anymore (because he couldnt believe that someone as gorgeous, fantastic, and awesome as you had struggles with your self-esteem) for you both to have a serious conversation about your own issues with being confident in your identity and depressive feelings/episodes.
In the end, you both agreed to remind eachother to not talk about yourselves in a negative light, and if one of you is feeling down to just come to other so they can remind you just how wonderful you are.
