The silence that followed was absolute. For the first time, the mask of the perfect student slipped. Tom’s knuckles turned white as he gripped the edges of the mahogany lectern. He didn't look like a politician anymore; he looked like someone who was deciding exactly how to destroy an enemy.

"The budget has been signed, Potter," Tom said, his voice dropping to a dangerous skin-crawling whisper. "If you want to keep your team, I suggest you find a way to play in the dark."
