I have an idea of what happened with jax, ribbit and Kafmo (I probably spelt that wrong) in the winter cabin adventure that we see in Caine's office. I think that Ribbit used to act kinda like Jax when it came to friends in the circus.
Series of events that I think could have happened:
1. Jax takes that photo with Kafmo and Ribbit, the one that's in his room
2. Jax possibly mentions something about hanging out with his friends and having fun
3. Ribbit becomes hostile saying stuff like "did you really think we were friends?" (Kinda like jax to pomni in that fight last (?) episode)
4. Jax and Ribbit have a big fight, and Kafmo doesn't rly know what to do so he just watches
5. (This might be a stretch) Ribbit abstracts, and Jax believes that something he said in their argument caused that. Jax starts distancing himself since he doesn't want to become attached, then cause more abstractions blah blah blah
And that's pretty much it. I did take some of these ideas from others' posts, but this is what I believe the fight between those was

Found a Draw the squad from @draw-the-squad-like-this that PERFECTLY fits both the fandom rn since the Ep 7 clip and my view on Jax' relationship with the two big ships. XD
I don't hate Jax, and I actually do kinda enjoy Funnybunny and Bunnydoll, particularly platonically. But dude is NOT ready for romantic relationships and while I actually think he'd be a queer ally...he's still a lonely hater going through it RN. Plus...he's fun to mess with. XD

so i think zooble and pomni in the button scene were really interesting to cornplate because pomni was stalling time for kinger while zooble is panicking because they're actually scared of caine
(also because i find these two as parallels. i was supposed to post about it but it's still in my drafts... for now...)
also ragatha being as suspicious as pomni about the whole situation because of how abel wanted to outcast kinger the entire time but noticed first that kinger needs more time^.
i also liked the blue of that button being prominently on pomni's face here because we, the viewers, all know that more than anyone pomni wants to get out the most. we're watching in her perspective the most after all. she just doesn't trust what's going on. rightfully.
and zooble, not knowing anything about kinger's clarity in the darkness, would of course be confused and angry at this. "why would you let someone who obviously can fuck this up the most to choose for us? it's two buttons, with a clear answer?!"
and i also love kinger's expression in this. it's not his usual blank stare. it seems like he's slowly trying to understand what's going on...
pomni in 1 and 2 up here is directly asking for more time while looking kinger's way. unfortunately, kinger answered as if he doesn't know what's going on. so pomni panicked. she says "i don't know" because she really wants kinger's input in this. but she knows she cant yet.
i love that zooble here in 1 specifically asked if they're missing something. as if they can tell that there's something important that the others know that they didn't. but because they feared caine as they implied in the spudsy episode that caine can do worse if he wants to, he wanted them to decide which button faster. they even easily dismissed pomni's suggestion of this being a trick so easily when we know them as one of the most skeptic in the gang. (i think zooble may be driven by their strong want to escape as well and the former conversation with gangle of how everything will be alright, blinding them)
i also love how 5 and 6 shows a visual presentation of the conflict by putting pomni in the side of stalling for time with the rest on the other side. But there's kinger at the middle who initially went here not knowing what's going on but he acts like their line here. their division. because even though ragatha is suspicious, i think she wants to press the blue button as much as zooble does because of her being the one to tell Jax, "What did you do?"
(unrelated with this is when zooble said in 2, "We all want to leave, right?" it's so smart that they made them point towards jax, the only person who wants to choose this hell over his real life outside)
also im sorry about the inconsistency in which im placing the numbers in the images. i don't want it to get in the way of important details...
1, 2, and 3 is pomni stalling as much time as she can but the perspective of these screenshots really brilliantly show how much she's willing to defend these buttons and to get kinger's input in it. small body putting herself on the way? always gets me.
I especially love how in 5 she looks at kinger when she said, "and go over everything we know..." as if she's gauging his knowledge. she has an idea at this point that bringing everything they all know at the table would bring out the more conscious kinger and the wisdom that they needed. it was a really good suggestion on her part. a really smart one!!
(because if you remember kinger remembers rules and basic knowledge even when it's bright like the regulatory softball size or how food operates in the circus in the pilot episode. what he loses are his experiences and wisdom.)
and the suggestion of voting also i think is mostly part of the stalling too. and it also can get a conversation going which can help kinger. unfortunately, zooble is still concerned about getting found out by caine. valid.
(also unrelated again i think it's understandable that the voting part was what really triggered jax. it's because it would really make it obvious that he would be the only one who didn't want to get out. and he didn't want to reveal WHY is that.)
these 8 set of screenshots is mostly to point out kinger's seemingly more focused expression than his usual looking straight in front of him dissociation. which i think is because despite the white light, it's actually still a dim place, looking at the darkness on the futher back.
(screenshot 5 is the one where jax fell laughing btw while ragatha's watching him)
(i also love zooble's increasingly pissed off expression from 6 to 8)
even in this set of screenshots, kinger is still so focused vs his usual dissociated stares. 4 is even more focused than usual. i think if jax didn't press the button right then, they would have had kinger's input ready.
plus, POMNI WAS RIGHT!! kinger regained clarity just as caine was explaining the temporary modifiers!! awakened through the power of nerd!!!
also can we talk about how the moment caine said, "it would not end well," the scene showed kinger? i'm actually a fan that he was like this because of caine and this episode, with how abel seems to be planting seeds of doubt and distrust on kinger among the cast, really seemed to show that the most.
just showing this one screenshot from when caine was seeing all of their betrayed expressions to say that kinger is more conscious and focused than ever.
and finally...
kinger's isolated expressions here from that last set just proves that he's still completely conscious and focused... and incredibly guilty. (because i think caine was his responsibility and accidentally gave him too much administrative power. this is for another post...)

I'm starting to think Caine especially likes Jax since Jax always rolls with the bit. Saying that the whole thing was indeed a sick adventure, Caine, through Abel, makes Jax a key player in the whole scheme: getting him involved with the Chinese room, making him get Caine's key to his office, trusting Jax was successful in distracting Caine, and even making him go first in getting to the office. Caine needs Jax because Jax plays along. When the group got antsy on what to do in the main console, Caine pushed Jax too far to make the right choice.
So when Jax stops from laughing and finally tells Caine off of how cruel he is, we see Caine surprised. He did not expect this, especially from him.

Ok I have got to talk about the Chinese Room joke in episode 7 for those who didn't get it because it is so good.
The Chinese Room experiment is a thought experiment that says if you put a guy in a room with a Chinese-English dictionary and instructions, but he doesn't understand Chinese. He can follow the instructions to produce a result, but he doesn't actually understand what he's saying. This is a fundamental argument against GenAI/LLMs - they don't actually understand what they're saying, they're just following an algorithm that statistically predicts the next word in a sentence, with no understanding of what the words actually mean.
Also Caine says "it's a mystery what's behind that door" which I interpreted to be a jab at the black box way that GenAI consumes and regurgitates things in its algorithm. Not even its creators know what it knows or how it will respond to things.
This is such a thinnly veiled jab at the fundamental dangers of misunderstanding GenAI being explained through our beloved fake AI. One minute in and I'm already loving this episode
